Yes, you need a NMEA to Simnet cable to connect the Vulcan 7R to the Simnet hum. Simnet is basically NMEA 2K, just a different plug. Tomorrow, I'll post a video specific to using a tiller pilot on a small craft. Standby...
@@dvc4you It's so easy to install and at a very reasonable cost, I'd definitely do it. It will somewhat change the way you sail especially when going out solo. The main drawback of tiller pilots is that they need to be physically disconnected once put on standby. I wish someone would make a tiller pilot with some kind of clutch system that would allow manual steering with the pilot still attached to the tiller. Nice boat by the way!
Hey I have a siren 17 1974 the sails are original and wornout I love the black sails can you tell me where you got them and how do you order them whats the sizing for the siren main sail and Jib
Sails were made by Precision Sails in Canada. Cloth is ZZ Contender. They already have the Siren 17 sail plan but you'll need to measure your boat rig as there could be slight differences in stay length that would affect the sails design. You can replay with your email and I will send you measurements for my sails so you get the idea.
I notice you added lazyjacks, do they help with lowering and flaking the sail over the boom? It looks like you loosen them under way to give the sail better shape and less chafing?
Thanks for the info. Always appreciated.
Very well done and instructive.
Merci Claude!
How did you connected the Simnet connector from the Simrad TP22 to the Vulcan 7r ? With NMEA 2000 adapter?

Thanks, the reason for asking is that I want to have the same setup in my J/24

Yes, it helps if you have a new main made from laminate cloth. Not needed if you have an old Dacron sail.
