Flow 19 - Sun and Rain Cover Integrated to the Lazzy Bag
If the boom on your sailboat is too low to install a bimini, here is an alternative to integrate a sun and rain cover into a lazzy bag. It's not usable under sails but still provides great protection while at a mooring or when motoring.

The Perfect Tender for a Pocket Cruiser Sailboat - Intex Excursion Pro K2

We very much enjoy Intex's Excursion Pro K2. It packs light and quite tight and yet, is made with quality materials which seam durable. It has 3 air chambers and high-pressure valves for safety. Considering that the kit with kayak, hand pump, paddles, etc... is less than US $250, this is quite a deal. You have the choice to deflate it and store it inside the cabin or keep it inflated and tow it...

Moosehead Lake, Maine's largest lake did not disappoint. Enjoying good winds, the lake offers beautiful scenery, great swimming and plenty of wild mushrooms! We made our base at Dunn Point at Lily Bay State park which has convenient floating docks and a protected bay to anchor at night. Best of all, there is very little boat traffic and you get a real sense of being out there.

    David is a highly articulate sailor & advocate for the Siren17. I have sailed some of his home waters in a 16ft. wood boat. He has some rather expensive gear for the running rigging, BUT less so than a 20ft.or 22ft. boat! Vandestadt & McGruer used to make these boats in Canada...do they still?

  • @FlatlandMando

    Omg, the idea of hoisting the furling jib into position at the same time as raising the mast is superb! Only I see, that for eg., the use of a highfield lever to tension the forestay is very pricey...your shroud adjusters too look top quality & dollars, dollars dollars! What you do have however is a top class single hander on a short waterline. If this was tried on a 20 or 22ft. boat the costs would be exponentially higher...Beautifully done I must say...😅😂

    Thanks for the useful info. I have that motor on my Sage 17. Based on the serial number, I think the motor is 2009 (also think it came as original equipment on my 2015 Sage). Not being EXTREMELY mechanically inclined/experienced, I'm quite pleased that I've successfully replaced the carb, as well as a frozen clutch bearing, over the time that I've owned the motor. I've also been pondering how to attach a tach (I have one pretty much like yours) to the motor. Maybe I'll try your setup. Does it live there all the time?

    I have only been out twice in my Siren - the first time, I did not try to lock the keel, the second time, I could not see the hole in the keel - that must be why... I thought the keel would pivot to a full-down position that would line up with the lock bolt (that would make sense). Now I see that my keel cable is likely too long, and the keel is swinging past the hole! I'll try your trick of lowering it onto the locking bolt, raising slightly, removing the bolt, and lowering a bit at a time, looking for the hole. (or lowering it all the way, then raising the winch a couple clicks at a time until I find it. I'll likely want to mark the cable somehow, maybe a bit of paint where the cable is just leaving the winch drum, when the keel is lined up with the lock. Thanks!!

    • @siren17
      @siren17 Месяц назад

      When I replaced the cable with a dyneema line, I trimmed it to the perfect length so the keel and keel trunk holes would line up with the keel all the way down. That made is really easy to line up the pin. In any case, in light winds, you don't need to lock your keel, only on windy days when there is a risk to broach or capsize.

    • @siren17
      @siren17 Месяц назад

      Hi, our Flow 19 is 19 feet and weights around 1,200 lbs. Hull speed when not planning is 6kt and with the motor at 100% with no wind and calm seas, it moves the boat at 4.5kt so, close enough. That says, you will get the best efficiency and battery life with power set at around 350W. At this setting, the boat will still move at 3.5kt. Below are power vs speed figures. I have absolutely no regrets getting this electric outboard, it's a game changer. Power vs. Speed (No wind, calm seas) 250w 3kt 350w 3.4kt 500w 3.8kt 750w 4.1kt 1000w 4.4kt
