    Thanks for the video!
This is a really useful feature!
I must point out that it is not perfect - because if I want to extend the end date, the duration will cause the start date to change as well...

Thank you immensely for pioneering the journey into the world of no-code with GAP Consulting. Your vision has not only transformed the way we approach digital marketing workflows but has also made sophisticated tools like Airtable accessible to all. I am sure your dedication to sharing knowledge and developing custom solutions has empowered countless businesses. You and AT have helped me optimize our operations efficiently and cost-effectively to the point that we can triple (or more) our personal production
. The impact of your work is truly remarkable, and we are grateful for the innovation and leadership you have shown in the no-code space.
Warm regards, Bob Rutledge, MicroManaged Media, Inc.

Hi Gareth, great video, as usual... little FYI, i tried to use this new feature in a free plan and wasn't available. might have changed from time you recorded the video.

Nice - will have to see if I can get this to work for our projects

Thanks! I am designing a project management app for my current client and am using the new date dependencies feature. Since I am also using a "tasks template" to auto populate tasks depending on the project type, my old formula fields & automations are now obsolete. I wrote new automations that work, but am wondering if there's a more efficient method. Are you planning a video on this soon? Hope so!

This works well for fixing date dependencies that are illogical, but not for compressing dates that ARE logical but unnecessarily spread out. How do you make sure there's no dead time in the gantt?

    Love this new feature!! 😍
Trying to decide if I want to go back and rebuild things I set up the "old way" (clunky, tedious automations) to this new way. It's soooooo much slicker. But if it ain't broke....? 😆

Just saw this comment. Given our recent chat, I'm guessing you'll let the old ways ride... 😂

nice .. i just wish Airtable would be more Duration/Time friendly .. I have been trying to make a multi vendor multi specialist booking system market place. Can you recommend any videos to watch to solve my problem? I just cant figure out time slots and how they work.
Also, Gareth i really do wish you the best in your life.. you really helped me to become closer to achieving my goals.

I use Calendly, Zapier, and AirTable to do something similar to what you described.
Calendly for booking, then Zapier takes that data into AirTable.

Is there a limit to how many date dependencies you can have set up at a time? We have multiple date fields within the same table. I want to set up 5 separate date dependencies, but they keep falling off when I set up a new one. Any ideas?

This is fantastic. I am interested in doing this but having the duration in months. I'm tracking contracts that might last 12 or 18 months. Is there way to use Months?

I believe duration for this is currently limited to days, but you can write a formula to convert months to days!

Nice! It behaves like a light version of ms project

This is great but still does not consider different dependency types. Finish to Start is the assumed/configured dependency type (Does not allow Start to Start, Start to Finish, or Finish to Finish dependency types). It also does not consider ability to offset the dependency by a number of days. Example: Using row number to represent dependency in MS project, I might enter 5FS+5 days, or 5SS+1 day. All 3 elements of the dependency are in one easy to enter field. Enabling that ability in Airtable still requires formula/automation solution but breaks Timeline/Gantt views (Invalid Dependencies). Airtable is catching up but still not quite there with abilities which have been in other more schedule focused tools like MS Project and SmartSheet for many years.

Agreed. It's a good start, but not quite the full feature I was hoping for. Yet.

How to automatically change the status of a "single choice" field after a specified period of time has elapsed?

    • @GarethPronovost
      @GarethPronovost  11 дней назад

Build a formula to calculate the time that changes output after your expiration. Then build an automation to look at this formula and when it changes, update the field.
Or, you can use a formula to BE the single select so that the selection is calculated always.
