As a florist (mostly weddings) I can totally agree with all of these being fails for me advertising as well.
Thank you for this awesome information. It's nice to know that by default I've been doing this the right way. Well meaning friends and family have suggested the things that haven't worked for you. I haven't been able to do them, and almost felt like I wasn't putting my all into it since I didn't. But hearing from a professional like you that those things didn't work really set my mind at ease!
I’m so glad you found this useful. Wishing you the best, Brenda!!
Thank you so much for this advice. I'm actually experiencing this now with registering at small pop-up shops...spending tons of time and money to prepare...and not making any sells. So frustrating.
Pop up shops are super super tricky for sure!! Hopefully you can boost sales a bit! 💕
These are so helpful. Thank you for your compassion in sharing so we don't waste time and/or money
Thanks for the encouragement and tips!! ❤️
Such great and valuable advice! Thanks so much for creating this video and sharing your insight.
You are so welcome!! 💕
Thank you, Ashleigh! Love your pink hair! 💕
You’re welcome, Kimberly! Thanks so much 🥰💕
This was very helpful. Thank you!
I would like to start a home baking business.... So i did enjoy your video... And thanks for the advice
That’s awesome! I wish you all the best with it 💕🥰
Thank you for this info as I’m just starting out on my home bakery t
That was excellent! Good job 👍👍💯
Thanks, Eva!!! 🥰🥰
Loving the hair!
Thank you! 💕💕
Thank you for sharing your experiences! Also love the hair! Do you have videos in which you talk about delivering cakes/treats vs having customers want to pick them up? And if you charge for delivery?
Thanks so much! You know what-I surprisingly don’t have a video specifically about this yet (I mention it here and there). I will make one!! 💕
Yesss! This would make an amazing video! The pick up and delivery process is still unknown to me as well 😅
Maybe also include the professional way to package baked goods for customer pick ups as well? Like should we just hand customers a box of treats or should it be in a box in a bag etc can’t wait for this video ❤️
Thanks for the advice love the hair 👍
You’re welcome! Thank you! 💕🥰
your hair color is gorgeous !!!
Thanks, Kevin!
I’m inspired by your journey and I still have a long way to go.
So sweet of you to say. One day you’ll look back on where you started and be amazed with yourself❤️🙂
Aww. I really hope so, Thank you 😁

I’ve gotten back into a home based bakery for a few months and I love watching your videos. Have you made a how to on fake cakes?
That’s fantastic! I’ve surprisingly only ever done one, but here it is: ruclips.net/video/GDFw_WT7qX8/видео.html . I’m planning on making a fake cake for my niece so there will be another in a few weeks! 💕🥰
@@SweetDreamsBakeShoppe I’ll check it out! And look forward to your next video!!! If you want to check out my stuff, my baking name is A Frosted Life 🥰
@@dbee30 is it a RUclips channel or insta? 🙂

I just started the video, but this is like the second time you talked about a farmer market, what you discribed, where I am is usually held on the weekend before the 2nd Monday of each month, Called 2nd Monday Trade Days. Where any and everyone can trade their goods and or Service. Surrounding counties usually have a different day/weekend every month.
Set up so Farmers etc could set up and sell their goods, and buy things they needed. Still going on today but more towards homemade goods.
An actual Farmers Market, is produce, canned items, honey etc. I read up on starting a home bakery here and under the Cottage Laws we are not allowed to sell at a Farmers Market, but we can sell at the Train Days.
It's really weird I guess.
Last time I went there was only a few ppl selling similar items to a Home Bakers items. None were doing very well at all.... One was an actual Home Baker. His set up was amazing, the cakes were beautiful little bunny cakes, and his flavors were so awesome. But, his prices were kinda high for this area. I am sure he makes a living and has a group that buys, but the general public here is just not going to buy fancy.
I am fixing to donate a bunch of baked goods to a bake sale fund raiser, I hope they sell. It such a dicey game here. I am already expecting to have to drive to Denton, Ft. Worth, Dallas areas to sell my goods.
Thanks for sharing this video! bringing baked stuff and other goodies to work is what I’m known for, lol. Knowing that this is just a hobby of mine, how would I price a cake order for a coworker reasonably?
It depends on your level and what they’re asking for. Hobby or not you still need to cover your time and supplies so it’s really up to you on how you want to handle that. When I was still running my business, I charged my colleagues the same way I would anyone else 🙂
@@SweetDreamsBakeShoppe good to know. Thanks much!
Great video🥰
Thanks, Jessica!!
@@SweetDreamsBakeShoppe congratulations on almost 13k subscribers!🥳🎉
@@enriquezj4 thank you so much!!
Hi! I have been watching your videos for a while now and you have some amazing advice! I am creating a pricing guide, kind of like the one you recommended in one of your videos, and I would like to know, how much would you suggest charging or what would be a good way to charge for sculpted cakes? There's hardly any bakeries or home bakeries that do sculpted cakes in my area, but I want to do it bc I think it would be a fun and unique way to be noticed. So how would you suggest to charge for a sculpture type cake? And would you charge a quinceñera/wedding cake the same as a regular cake? Thanks! - Yessica H
So glad you’re enjoying it! Here is a pricing guide on sculpted cakes: ruclips.net/video/YNHfXlwwVC8/видео.html
What do you think about business cards? Do they work?
Thank you I’m in a pickle, I’m am a baker/ artist but sometimes I come across these cakes that I know I can do but they are very tedious I have to come up with a price tomorrow morning for someone and the cookies have over seven colors it’s a Mexican theme so imagine shoot they want that painted royal icing in a design on a two-tier cake I have no idea how much to charge for this but it’s not going to be cheap that is really all about time it’s only for 25 to 30 people which is an 8 inch and a 6 inch tier or a 10 inch cake, any suggestions? Help!!!
You mentioned posting on free wedding websites. What are they and how do you post for free?
That’s strange that you didn’t do well at markets. I live in Washington and I’ve only seen one person sell organic quality desserts out of dozens at 6 different markets others just use basic ingredients
Maybe it would be different now!
This is so true, its so hard to get followers on instagram for a small business :(
Keep at it!! Social media is very much a marathon than a sprint 🙂
Hey! I just want to share that I’m just starting out on Instagram and I’m slowly gaining followers. Mainly because I’m using a ton of hashtags relevant to what I’m posting. Definitely use the hashtags to your advantage :)
Are you open to doing a one on one zoom chat to get personalized advice on my home baking business?
I’m a little busy to find opportunities to do this, but I’m happy to answer any questions you might have!!
It would be paid of course!
Mostly just more advice on pricing! Also details on weddings, do most bakers do both dessert tables and the cake, pricing on both, tips on delivery and policies!
@@KwincyS oooo when wedding season nears I will definitely keep these ideas in mind!! Hopefully there’s more of a wedding season this year than last year 🤔
Sweet Dreams Bake Shoppe i think there will be. I’m trying to do party planning on the side and always see leads for weddings. Guessing they will just be smaller cakes but more detail (hopefully) and maybe more individual maybe even played desserts?
@@KwincyS oh so fun! I’ve always thought wedding planning would be exciting.
What about starting a food truck that provides baked goods such as cakes and donuts? Would that be a moneymaker?
Ooo that sounds delightful. I think something like this definitely requires location based research!! I know in the downtown areas, this does well around here.
did the wedding fair increase your social media following ?
Not really…maybe slightly? But nothing so significant that would be super noticeable! I think nowadays though more people are on the up and up with it so a quick follow when they’re at your booth is totally something I could see happening.
I never buy cakes or cookies at the Farmers Markets. I am already eating kettle corn.
Seems to me like you started out blind without doing research.
