I want to thank the THREE OF YOU for championing this team, this sport and this culture in Canada. I have been a fan of all three of you for years, and look to you for guidance on my journey as a lover of football. I vote for a Rhian/Carm tag team Head Coach takeover.
Whoever takes over for Bev, as I'm not sure she'll be able or wanting to return. I'm sure she can find many non hostile environments to play for. But who ever is the next coach, please makes sure they have the mandate to determine ALL staff and not the CSA. I'm not saying that just because of this scandal, but there are some blatant skills or lack of development with the coaching staff. If I had a dollar everytime Clare points it out in her broadcasts, I'd be a millionaire by now. Now yes Canada isn't a football nation, but how difficult is it to find a coach to teach proper technique/strategy to maintain possession on throw ins. I swear Canada loses about 70% posession on throw ins.
@@deliman7203 Bev got a slap on the wrist from FIFA and the players ended up suffering the most from her shady actions. She and Mander should have received a multi year suspension.
The extra-extra time seemed like a lot in the moment, but when I rewatched it was actually appropriate. The goal celebrated was rather extended, then the VAR review on top did justify the extra addition
Yes kudos to the French fans for not taking advantage of this scandal and booing or harassing the Canadian team. But I guess since quite a few of them had/do play for French teams, these womens have a connection there.
So love all your nuanced perspectives on the situation. Yes, so right, Vanessa deserves a whole show! As does Janine. Was hoping you discussed more on Jade's incredible performance in the France game. Next time. The three of you are the leaders the current team emulates--thank you!
Crazy results… with a win (🤞) Canada, at worst, finishes 2nd in group. Hard luck, for the team that faces them in the quarterfinals… win your group and face an undefeated, motivated, team defending their gold medal. Win, ladies 🇨🇦!
Seriously, that's a terrible idea. Your thought is to put a member from the CANWNT as the flag bearer to represent Canada at the closing ceremonies. A team that has bathed themselves in a cheating scandal and placed a dark cloud over the entire Canadian Olympic team. The women aren't even out of the group stage, their cheating appears to have gone on for some time and they haven't won anything. I could go on and on about what a terrible idea this is. Meanwhile, Summer McIntosh is turning into an Olympic superstar who has already won a Gold medal and still has 3 more individual events to go. She absolutely dominated in her race this morning to win the gold. Then there is Christa Deguchi who won Canada's first gold medal in her Judo match. Neither of these athletes are in the midst of a cheating scandal and they both have reached the pinnacle of their sports by winning gold.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this very uplifting podcast in support of our women’s team. Please, no offence to the fellows who are often on here, I would like to see greater balance in the female to male ratios talking on the pod. My heart sank after I first discovered you and thought it was a female oriented podcast, only to discover that most of the time it’s one woman, Amy with all the rest being men. We need more of Amy, Clare, and Rhian. Your focus on Vanessa was so well placed. I’ve also seen her gather the Lyon women together after a goal, and she was only there on loan!
I appreciate your positive thoughts about this podcast being uplifting but then you make an unbelievably sexist remark for all to see. Yes, offence taken and you should be ashamed of your sexist remark. The play by play announcer at CBC is female as is the color commentator. The CBC prime panel consists of 1 female host and 3 others of which 2 are female. And outside of Andi Petrillo, who I think is an excellent host, they are simply just okay at what they are doing. If I were on here commenting that we need more male representation and less females, there would be outrage. This is a great podcast for the insight they provide, not for what sex they identify as. Truly ashamed that I had to read this crap here.
If 2nd match day both ended up with draws, we'd have had -2, while france got 4, colombia got 1, nzl got 1. That's when we'll try to beat colombia on the last game to get 1 point, while waiting for france to beat nzl, to help us advance with only 1 point on goal different, lol. But colombia beat nzl so we must beat france (and we did). Either way , we're gonna have to beat colombia. Let's go girls, we're proud of u , and never stop believe in. Great comments about leadership within the team. Would love to hear some discussion around the appropriatness of J Flem's captaincy within the team. As a huge fan of her's, I feel that the role of front person and spokesperson for the team is not something that she does naturally and as a result 'Not well'. Relieving Jessie of the role that she doesn't enjoy and let her just focus on the responsibility of being the best player and absolute engine ofthe team on the field. There is enough vocal leadership within the group now, let someone else fill the role better suited. The quiet leadership that #17 brings will still exist without the formal title. Just a thought even though it maybe an unpopular one. Love to hear what you guys have to say...
Fleming was the best pick, no one would argue against that. Even when Sinc was on the team, she was not always the spokesperson for the team. Fleming has the drive, football intelligence, and leadership the team needs on the pitch.
New Zealand wins games against Pacific island nations and those in Southeast Asia. They struggle against everyone else in the world. Very unlikely that the Football Ferns can beat Les Bleues, the #2 ranked team worldwide. If CANWNT ends up Group A runner up, Germany is next. If they end up as one of the two third place teams to advance, Group C winner 2023 Women’s World Cup champion and the current FIFA #1 ranked team Spain will be be their quarterfinal opponent.
Possibly. If they are the Group A winner, they would face either Brazil or Australia next. If they are the Group A runner up, they would get Germany in the quarterfinals. If they make it through as one of the two third place teams to advance, they end up going against Group C winner 2023 Women’s World Cup champion Spain, currently #1 in the FIFA world rankings.
Rhian and Moscato for Team Head Coach CANWNT. The team and individuals on the team can/should/need to interview coaching staff and bluntly ask these questions regardless of who put these people in these roles of authority. Determine if you can trust them, don't assume you can or have to because they were honoured this job. Why isn't the coaching staff also the same nationality of the national teams?
Im just really curious to know -- the Canadian team is clearly talented. So why did they find it necessary to cheat? When you cheat, anything else ceases to matter. Such a shame!
Yeah ok, because FIFA with their game fixing scandals, and the Olympic Committee, with its Satanic, Opening-ceremony, Bacchanalia, exposing innocent kids to naked perverts painted blue, are above reproach. Why not penalize an entire team of young ladies, who worked most of their lives towards their Olympic dreams, for crimes they didn’t commit? Who have nobly risen, like Phoenix from the ashes, overcoming outrageous fortune, with 2 courageous comeback wins, when most lesser mortals (Like you?) would have sulked and quit. I'd call you cognitively challenged but that would be unfair to innocent autistic kids subjected to some 2 dozen neuro-toxic vaccines, according to CDC scheduling, by age 2, not one of which has ever been properly tested long-term, with double blind studies employing genuine placebo. Don’t you have some virtue signaling mask to don? Some booster jab to take? Some Woke meeting to attend? Some Mad March for ClimateGate Science Fraud to Cheer On? Oh holier than thou one?
@@notanothershrubbery Yes, clearly the organization being fine is absolutely appropriate and severe action being taken against the coaching staff is also appropriate.
