Vangelis part (18:00) brought tears to my eyes! May he rest in peace!
1980’s definitely the most diverse era for music creation. We will never see the like again. So glad I was in my teens and twenties during the 80’s.
I think the 70's were more diverse, but regardless we are very lucky that we can look back at such great music.
i think the 70s were more evolutionary and the 80s had a more established set of styles...the styles evolved in the 70s and diversified in the 80s
Yes I mean I still mainly listen to music around the 80s because I absolutely love that area so much. Loads of iconic musicians, technology and music came out of it. Wish I could have been there 😂😐
What? LOL
1000% agreed
He got the planet rock voice FX down!! Well done that man
He killed it
Thank you very much! To me it sounded like a very wet delay with a very short delay time and a high feedback setting, so that’s what I made. 🎛️
That planet rock was awesome 👍👍👍👍👍
"The Bounty" by Vangelis is absolutely sublime.
not gonna lie, teared up during the Vangelis tribute. the only man I miss dearly but never knew or met, his presence through his music was so so powerful.
Even Now after year of passing of Vangelis, YES one can still teared up, Very sad that all the good people seems go!! Died: 17 May 2022, Paris, France R.I.P Vangelis We still Love you where ever you are and your music will still live on......................
Thats the population of the earth minus a handfull that never met him. What a weird comment
That Vangelis track brought me to tears. Extremely well done!
Nearly 45 minutes I didn't move, mouth open, cold shivers running down my back... 🤤I'll start making music again right now. Doctor Mix = Life changing experience. Boooom!
1. Turn on a DX7
2. Select ANY preset.
3. Play a 7th or 9th chords
4. Done under 10 seconds.
Doctor Mix you have no idea, no idea how very fantastic this video was. So full of energy, great audio ideas and execution. Also full credit to you/your video editors as that must have taken ages to compile even after watching the submissions. Obviously a work of dedication, I award you an afternoon off in the garden with a chilled bottle of bubbles. Maybe a little background music as well. Thank you C & co. 🥂👍
" Contests are for horses, not for artists" , you know what, this is the best words i've heard this past months. In fact I hate when someone organize à competition to see "WHO IS THE BEST ? " , and guess what ? he thinks himself as a perfect musician to say who is the best.... a$$hoIe !
But what you did is respectful with all of us, WE ALL LOVE MUSIC and synths, everyone of us is an artist, we do our best to share love thru music
Thousands THANKS Claudio... WE LOVE YOU sooooooo much
"Contests are for horses, not for artists".
We need to hear this more often. Love you, Doctor Mix!
That kid is The Bomb! Seriously, you MUST make a colab video with him! 😍
Probably my favorite creator Gattobus. Been listening to his covers for YEARS. I always come back to them.
When I saw the 2 twin rockets land, in the montage, I knew I was among friends. I salute you, Ronald McNair. Your saxophone can be heard in every corner of the universe forever.
👏👏👏👏👏❤️ I agree!!! I loved that
"Competitions Are for Horses, Not for Artists" - Béla Bartók
Well remembered ;-)
Loved the tribute to Vangelis. I aspire to think up music like he did, and to have the gear that made such sweet sounds in his creations, and the imagination to use it properly.
What is the title of the Vangelis song please?
@@dk_rd3899 Bounty Closing Titles
The greatest 80s night of all time 🍺🍺🍺🔥🔥🔥
This should become an annual event 👍 not one missed target 👏👏👏👏
Not a CHALLENGE but a JAM SESSION!! Absolutely loved this!
more of an advert for the Phantom I think tbh...
I have always felt a certain hauntingness (if that's a word) about the Bounty theme.
And there were a couple very familiar Italo tunes too!
God, I am smiling right now !
This is what music should be about, making people happy.
Thank you all for this wonderful surprise !
I didn't dare enter as I assumed you would have 1,000s of entries from musicians who knock out '80s classics for breakfast while I sit here half blind thanks to my strokes trying to get my 22-year-old Evolution "master" MIDI keyboard and my Jupiter 8 VST working in Cubase, both of which I haven't used in over a year. If there were only 100 entries I should have gone for it!!! Oh well, maybe next time eh 😂🤪😜 Personally, I think the guy @16:00 with all that classic gear deserves a medal, just for holding on to all that CLASSIC and INCREDIBLE gear from over 40 years ago - what a LEGEND he is, and how the hell has he got both a Jupiter 8 AND a CS-80!!!! Respect to him, superb stuff 🤟🤟🤟
Always been a guitar player but the eighties made me acquire lots of synths as I just loved the sounds. Now 60, kids left home and determined to get a synth den for them all to play in. This whole channel is a massive inspiration. Thank you !
never too late! let's inspire the kids!
Dont you think this guy is a twat? watch the video again and look at the keyboards the winners just happen to be playing. They are all Rolands latest model. This is a marketting campaign pretending to be a competition. Unless all the winners just happened to buy the same brand new keyboard
Thank you so much @DoctorMix for this powerful and very lovely challenge ❤ I love your music. also a big thank to everyone who took part, it was very cool! I wish you all good luck and inspiration in music! I love all
I like how almost everyone used the fantom
I was going to bed … the best 45 min of the month !!!! Back to the basement after this incredible moment … thanks to you doctor and to all contributors
it just hits ya after listening to all this ,how rich the sounds of the 80s music are ...
Thank you for featuring my cover!!!
Time to rock with the 90’s!!!!!!
The Vangelis one really hit home. I've been loving his music for such a long time and only recently I found out that he passed away. That saddened me so much. 😢
Vangelis was a demigod walking among humans. Humanity will miss him for all eternity. Such an immense loss.
Dude you know souls come and go a few life cycles and have interim places they wait called the 2nd heaven. Vangelis is now in the 2nd heaven.
Got goosebumps with the Terminator track! ❤
I'm soooo happy someone finally played Koto! My childhood music! Thank you Guillmero (36:43) 🤩
I had such a great time watching the entire video with the revived sounds of the 80s! It truly transported me back in time, and I didn't get bored for a second. Such a fun and enjoyable content, well done Dr. Mix.All talented musicians from all over the world, you were all amazing❤
Claudio, your vlogs definitely affect people and inspire them. Even though i can't play a lick, im tapping my feet and smiling ear to ear!! I wish i had 1/8th the talent of any of these entries.
Thank you and your team for continuing to lead and inspire others.
God bless all those who read this and keep working to be of service to others! Also, those who posted to the 80s in under 80, fantastic job!!! Brought back many great memories.
Your a LEGEND Dr Mix, bringing all this musical talent together. Love you loads !
And everyone seems to have a FANTOM, and I am still stuck with my MODX - boo ;)
This challenge was SO much fun to do, and I especially enjoying listening to how others built their songs. There is just so much talent out there, and thank you Dr. Mix for this challenge. Looking forward to the next one.
15:07 The moment I recognized Pet Shop Boys - West End Girls
О величайший из великих светил музыкальной науки Doctor Mix Очень рад снова видеть.
Jose Evers 💖💖💖 knocked it out of the park. Everyone else did an amazing job. 😁
Thanks for the nice compliment - I do feel a bit guilty versus the other ones…I didn’t get the part of the 80 sec…just jumped into it when I read ‘80-iets’. Txxs @DoctorMix for including me anyway!
@@josesvintagekeys You're very welcome! And please, there's no need to feel guilty. Recognizing your work doesn't take away from others' accomplishments. Everyone's journey and contribution are unique and worthy of acknowledgement.
This is the youtube community when at its best! I am greatful to be a part of it. 🙏❤️🎶
I'm completely amazed in the Vangalis Tribute Segment in the video.
It was quite amazing to see you slightly worked up in seeing the synthesizers that the compose used.
You acted like you we're seeing old friends that you haven't seen in a long time.
Enjoy the video..
Keep up the great work that you're doing.😊
Claudio, proof that music really is the international (universal) language. you are responsible for this marvelous phenomenon. I felt your emotion for Vangelis, which was my trigger in 1975, for daring to create music, the greatest happiness of my life. I hope you continue to make us love and produce, despite everything, music to beautify the world. Thanks Claudio L-O-V
Seriously, you guys ALL ROCK!! I know this sounds naïve, but I didn't realize that there was so much synth in all of those songs.
The number of Fantoms used here is totally amazing!
What a surprise. This video was sponsored by Roland! I love Roland but variety, too.
@@Thomas-ij7ki I didn't notice, but now I understand better ;-)
And this makes me laugh at all the bickering idiots who keep complaining about Roland not making analogs anymore and how the digital versions are crap. 😅
Kudos to the kid! When he said “I’m real emotional now“ I too was holding back the tears.
Is it because he was really young? Or that we are really old?
Awesome Challange, was fun to participate. 😊
So many cool Musicians. 🔥
You need to do this type of challenges more often @DoctorMix 😉
Really enjoyed that! Thanks to everyone who put the time in. 😊
I am 49 years old and I listen to music from the 80's & 90's. Excellent from Argentina
WOW! I didn't even know you were making this! Hopefully you can make another one so I can particaptate1!
It's remarkable how many times I thought they were about to play Blue Monday. 😆
9:35 hahaha come on Doctor Mix. I don't think that is a Polish name. SHY GUY MUZIK maybe? lol
Aw man this was a tonne of fun to watch, every single person did great! 🔥
T Kis AMAZING job at Chronozon! I literally jumped out of my seat!,
It was very fun to take part of this challenge! So nice to see so many other people doing it too! Thanks Dr. Mix
The 80's were plenty of amazing music!
Hello Doc, thx thx vidéo excellent merciiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii :) (france)
These are AWESOME!!! Gotta love the ‘80s.
Hello Claudio. I want to congratulate you, not only for this last beautiful initiative, but for all the work you do on your RUclips channel. Certainly you (and your sponsors 😉) can be satisfied with the success of your initiatives. But I want to say that your credit goes beyond that. In fact, in my opinion, you contribute to connecting people around the world (even in Italy !) people who are passionate about electronic keyboards, a kind of exceptional instrument, but which usually doesn't give much visibility to those who play it. Continuing as you are doing, I think you could really become the soul of a community of musicians who could finally "find a home", get to know each other, and, who knows, participate in live events in the future, in countries where there are more - of course we need that you will organize those live events 🤩. Thank you! - Daniele Roffy from Italy
SUPER challenge! You can hear even the TANGERINE DREAM! Respect for the VANGELIOS (RIP), SANDRA and lots of italo-disco hit covers!
Much respect to T.Kis Szillard (42:32) for a great interpretation of Tangerine Dream
This is how he got inspired :)
ruclips.net/video/yI_KZNAOPn4/видео.html
Highly agree! More TD please
That electric guitar patch on the Fantom is outstanding.
Hahaha GREAT!! 19:20 Guy played Roland with DX7 Shirt LOL🤣🤣🤣🤣
Well done to everyone. What a great initiative, dude. 90s next, right? :)
please another 80 for those who just didn't know or get in in time.....Just saying.
Thanx a million for your nice words about my channel Doc’ I really appreciate your mention ❤
❤️
The depeche mode covers will always win my heart.
Piano version of Get To France gave me the chills ❤❤❤
At around 18:47 this guy plays the Minidexed DX7, that is 8 DX7 instances in a Raspberry PI!
Loved the surprise entries of Marvin Gaye.
Also ‘80s + synths = Tangerine Dream
Watched the whole thing, and well done to all. I really wish I'd have had the confidence to do my own.
Props the the kid playing Rick James too. As a kid who started DJing young, I love seeing kids learning early! Well done lad :)
As for the best...I couldn't possibly pick one. Highlights were both who did Ghostbusters, the guy who did Jackson's "Another Part Of Me" and, ultimately, the Terminator 2 theme was epic!
All together, they were all truly inspiring! Well done everyone, hopefully I'll do my own next time.
wow so cool!! so much submissions, and so much talent here!! thanks everybody, do that again some time...
Thanks a lot Doctor Mix! Yes, your videos do affect people 🤩! I still see the 24 teeth of my son smiling😁...
Really nice video! All musicians are awesome! 👏👏👏
I'm agree!
This was fun to watch, great editing!
07:39 while you too rarely sing in your video, it's for an imitation of Simpson's Grandpa?! 😂Very good by the way.
I'm sure you can sing , please share with us a ballad, a lullaby...
Thanks for gathering so many good vibes, such energy with everyone 😊
Man this video is quite the dose of nostalgia! Momentary time travel! Thanks for the ride Claudio!
first..........I love the 80's 😁 I'm old
Nice to see your emotions Dr. Mix............you make so manny people happy.
Doctor Mix yet again saving the world with the use of a synth. Can't get enough of your vids!!! Greetings from Scandinavia
Claudio, plz do a video where you rank your favourite rollercoasters
18:52 - when your synth buying addiction gets so bad your wife makes you build your studio outside in the back garden - kudos. (EDIT - classic 80's TOTP live set, that Commodore 64 isn't even plugged in!).
It is such a joy to see your enthusiasm, engagement of the community and how quickly you catch the right tunes.
Everyone did an amazing job! 👍👍
Love Planet Rock! Freestyle baby! 👍
Absolutely fab jam session!!!!!......I am very impressed by the majority of the performances!!!
So much talent. So many toys!
To be honest, this is the best video ever. So many emotions, so many cool guys with passion to music, to 80s, to old gear. Brilliant video.
I hope when I get my Fantom I can jump in on this challenge!!!
Oh yes absolutely agree, let’s get out of this contest mode! Fantastic videos, really inspiring people! Thanks Dr Mix, love your channel, Cheers Dave
doctor mix..the almighty keytoucher ... :)... please do a vangelis tribute episode..you are the right guy
Super inspiring to see what everyone has done. The positive energy is infectious. The clip of Vangelis following that remarkably luscious cover may have brought a tear to my eye as well. Lovely stuff.
This is brilliant. Especially having you fill in the other parts as if your in a jam session with these other artists.
The Amount of Talent in this video is incredible!
Wow, so many great musicians. Well done to all of them.
Amazingly how so many of these involved the flagship Fantom. Roland really made incredible instruments. Of course they weren't the only company doing it but what a legacy they have
Awesome homage...to 1980's kudos to you Dr. Mix for incorporating the challenge...
So amazing! Please keep doing these. It makes my soul happy!
That was absolutely superb, cracking performances from everyone. Many thanks
Это просто восхитительно! Я бы хотел увидеть ещё подобных челленджей, уважаемый Доктор Микс.
I enjoyed every single person that did a song, what a wonderful mix! That was a reward for the ears, thank you again
What is so cool about this challenge other than getting to see and hear everyone... is to use the video to lean some new songs! Love it!
A whole lot of these classic 80s tunes performed was in the originals produced by the amazing genius Rupert Hine, who passed in 2020, also to be remembered.
This was amazing, many thanks to all of you.
Rupert produced and played the bass guitar and synths on Tina Turner's "Better Be Good To Me", my absolute favorite of her 80s hits. He doesn't get the publicity that guys like Trevor Horn and Daniel Lanois did, but he had just as much impact on the 80s.
