@ Doctor Mix Fun fact: most Japanese musicians, songwriters and arrangers or musicians still uses some of those D-50 presets until today, along with instruments from Logic Pro X, Cubase, FL Studio, Mixcraft and Ableton Live, with traditional japanese/oriental instruments like the Koto or the Shakuhachi flute and percussions sounds like Taikos and Gongs, with pianos, strings and drums and a lot of synthesizer/bell sounds too!
The sound of this synthesizer is highly appreciated in Chile and Latin America because many cumbia bands used it, especially the sound of the minute 9:54 I recommend listening to "mujeres y cerveza" from the band "alegria" there the D50 is used and I think the korgM1 too

The VC-1 "card" of my V-Synth XT and my D-05 Boutique both have a suitable bank of nostalgic sounds... ;) When Claudio was going through the samples I wondered if he'd reach the "Loop" samples... Think it's either "Loop10" or "Loop11" that's really famous on that album...
There were moments when watching things likt Star Trek TNG a couple years ago, also the time I got into old synths, when I'd open my mouth and say: "wait, that's from the D-50 presets!", and similar events like that... :-D
I have the D-05 and it's a great addition, but I don't think the vintage D-50 will appreciate much because the Roland Cloud, System 8, and Zen Core hardware can all replicate the sound exactly, it was digital to begin with.
"Shout" was actually first released as a single on November 23rd, 1984 and was then released as the opening track to Tears for Fears multi-platinum album _Songs from the Big Chair_ on February 25th, 1985. So it's originally from 1984, but didn't become well known until 1985.
Have had mine since late1988, still a very useable synth. Backup battery just died and it dumped internal memory with several collected and custom patches. It’s backed up in three places....now where are those three places 😂

Not wrong !!!
yes and its intresting to know who made the presets
Roland D-50, Korg DSS-1, Korg DSM-1, Fairlight CMI, Synthex, EMS Synthi AKS, OSC OSCar, EMS Vocoder, Dynacord Add-one, Cristal Baschet, Akai MPC60, drum programming, percussions, Vocoder on "Revolutions"
Yeah~ I love my D-50 too. So your video always has value to watch. Thank you very much indeed 😆
31:13 - "Shout" by Tears For Fears (1985)
🔥💥
On this roland D-50 can fly to Mars and back ))
Right but, as you say, "Shout" it's from '85. The D-50 was commercialized in 1987. Unless i'm mistaken, the flute sound it's from a Fairlight.
@@TheRenormalization It was an Emulator.
"Shout" was actually first released as a single on November 23rd, 1984 and was then released as the opening track to Tears for Fears multi-platinum album _Songs from the Big Chair_ on February 25th, 1985. So it's originally from 1984, but didn't become well known until 1985.
Love your jam and your music feelings, love the D-50's sounds, the longuest video but one of the best ! Need that synth !
Love my D50
That’s in fabulous condition! I recall the build quality of Roland stuff of that era was always good...Well done 👍
Still love and use my D50
Have had mine since late1988, still a very useable synth. Backup battery just died and it dumped internal memory with several collected and custom patches. It’s backed up in three places....now where are those three places 😂
I have two D-50 and one D-550, I love this machine, an iconic sound 😉👍🏼
Very good ! Only the songs by J.M.Jarre from the album Revolution were missing
and Enya :(
@@F-Andre He played a bit of Orinoco Flow when demonstrating the Pizzagogo patch (albeit in a lower octave), which is what Enya used on that track.
I finally got around to watching this one. Man, there are some really nice patches in this thing. That would be a great edition to my Roland JX3P and Ensoniq ESQ-1.

In the 1990 KTCA ending theme and 2021 Kesimpta commercial, the Roland D-50 PN-D50-00 patch "Metal Harp" was heard.
The one keyboard I have I'd never sell.
Don't sell it
That synth is hella precious so don't sell it.
This Synth is one of the holy grails, if you sell that, you maybe never become a D-50 back or you must pay a lot of money to get it back. Maybe not that expensive like a very rare Jupiter-80, but a D-50 has also a bit of a price. And why should you sell it?! The D-50 is still a great device nowadays, with great sounds to produce or make live music or just to have fun.
Love it Dr Mix, I still own my D50 and love it to bits. Way beyond the factory presets I have a library of over 14000 patches and some of them are superb. Great deconstruction of the synth.

Procol Harum - A Whiter Shade of Pale
Going to look at a used good condition Roland D-50 for under $200! I always wanted one. I remember it as part of Nick Rhodes 87 touring gear. Thnx for posting this. Love the channel🇺🇸
There is no such thing as too many synthesizers.
True! =D
Indeed. It's not a matter of too many synthesisers, but rather one of too small a house/studio. Let's get our priorities right.
I have too many and not enough.
Just checking this vid as I've recently added a Roland D-110 to my Acid House live rig, absolutely loving it, had a track prepped and got it sitting in a treat almost straight away. Always been a fan of the DX synths, had the 100 for years and now own the 21 but I'm really kicking myself for having ignored the rack mount Roland LA synths for so long. Love your channel btw, always great content!

Great! Awesome! Claudio, your playing is alway so inspiring. Many thanks!
Do a similiar thing with the Korg M1
i agree!

Yes! Family member got this and has no clue on how to use/programme it 👍
Yes, but they have their own soundscape.
Love the D50 - recently got a Roland JV-1010 so I could get a hold of some of those classic Roland presets :-)
Man, Selena Quintanilla used that synth on almost every song she had
I still have my original D50 that I bought upon release but I don't have all of the original presets, it was nice to hear some of them again, yes they have aged but they are still usable sounds in the songs I am playing these days.
I have all of my own patches backed up on multiple media and so I might restore the original presets back to the internal memory.
Toccata and Claudio in D-50 minor.
I own two D50 keyboards , one for spares and I use the other with a Rolland Rd 2000. I have two MIDDI Cables plugged into the MIDDI in/out .I can play the rd 2000 same time as the D50 the sounds are both mind blowing .
Claudio: I'm not a piano player.
