man hung back all year watching ricky rudd and dale jarrett fight for 2nd in points and stole it for himself in the end. he was ready to get that check and GTFO, lol
Still my favorite driver ever. So funny and entertaining, a great competitor, a successful team owner. I love Smoke. This interview didn’t age well for Krista, though. 🥴
wow what a comment; "thats going into the retirement fund so i can eventually get out of this series." back when ol Stewart had a promising INDY career?
Smoke, my favorite driver of all time. I miss this mischievous man. I know Tony is single. Did Yocum get married? Always love the interviews with Tony.
I almost forgot Stewart finished 2nd in 2001. Outside of the Sears Point/Bristol wins and his spring Bristol brouhaha with Gordon, I don't remember much from Stewart that year. Amazing to think he managed to chase down Rudd/Jarrett/Marlin for #2.
+Chris Kreager Tony Stewart had a crazy year that year, he kind of capitalized on Dale Jarrett and Ricky Rudd's free fall in the points after Jarrett injured his ribs and the Yates team as a whole struggled in the second half of the year. Tony also had the yellow line controversy at Daytona, where he was the first to get caught for that violation, at least the first major driver anyhow. But by the time Tony got to Jeff to challenge for the title, it was too late. He got the title the next year, but it was a very controversial year. Tony made up for it in 2005 which was a great year for him, and of course 2011 was the tiebreaker title.
He's won either 3 or 4 in his career, he's quite amazing actually. I bet you didn't know Robby has won in every type of race he's ever competed in. He's also a very nice person.
That was the postponed race because of the terrorist attack on Sep 11,2001.I was at that race and when we got there, the seats were frozen over with ice.Pretty damn cold,I think it was in November.
this is what i love about nascar drivers. There so down to earth and have so much personaltity. They are all fun and like to have fun , and thats what nascar is about to have a good time. F1 guys are nothing like this..
It was actual suppose to be a compliment, You don't normally don't see a nascar driver these days wear a beanie. All i was trying to say was that he was fresh with the Beanie and jacket combination, is that better Mr Sensitive
@HomeDepot20TS yeah i didnt get to see that either...i was up there freezing my ass off at the race lol...genius of nascar there putting the race day after thanksgiving in new hampshire where it was 20 degrees lol.....best part of race was robby gordon spinning jeff gordon to win the race
Tony's pretty funny. You know, it's kinda crazy, 'cause Tony finished the 2001 season 2nd in the standings, and the next year, he won the championship.
LOL I had to ask myself the same question. At least he's a fun/happy drunk! lol He's probably not even intoxicated, we're just not used to him being...nice.
Yep. Down to zero. I used to have one of those 1989 The Winston posters on my wall as a kid and kept track of who was on it. Got down to 0 a few years ago. How things have changed
@14JohnnyRed14 I think tony sees the big picture and knows that by racing the sprint cup he can give the young guys a good start in racing. He owns alot of property involved with racing.
he punted jeff gordon into ryan newman, gordon slid up and got rf damage from hitting newman and newman spun; robbie gordon holds off the field on the restart
fans are funny the confuse a drivers passion to win, and their disappointment with not winning, with someone who accepts losing, show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser
These two are actually really good friends outside of being on TV.
I can believe that...
I had dinner with him in Philly and he was the biggest f’ing dick I ever met.
Tony Stewart 13 years younger and 50 pounds lighter
*100
God the entire sport should have that kind of attitude. Just chill and fun that's what racing is.
The look Tony gives him right at the beginning when Matt says "Second straight 5th place finish"....lol.
Really
Retirement fund so I can get out of this damn series one day. 😂
He was so relieved the season was over.
Exactly what I was going too say lol…complete relief
man hung back all year watching ricky rudd and dale jarrett fight for 2nd in points and stole it for himself in the end. he was ready to get that check and GTFO, lol
Still my favorite driver ever. So funny and entertaining, a great competitor, a successful team owner. I love Smoke. This interview didn’t age well for Krista, though. 🥴
Didn’t age well at all. 🥴
Robby Gordon won this race. Wow. It's been a while.
And Robert Pressley finished 7th!
@@stephengiles8428 And Brett Bodine 8th!
I love that interview, smoke always a character, and good luck to him on his recent retirement, thank you for the great years brother.
that race was the day after thanksgiving rescheduled after the 9/11 attacks
wow what a comment; "thats going into the retirement fund so i can eventually get out of this series." back when ol Stewart had a promising INDY career?
Didn't he leave Indy a few years earlier?
Smoke, my favorite driver of all time. I miss this mischievous man. I know Tony is single. Did Yocum get married? Always love the interviews with Tony.
Matt Yocum and Ingrid are now married. You’re welcome. ☺️✌🏼
AJ Foyt once said 'If you show me a loser, I'll show you a guy who don'y know what winning is like.'
I miss the JGR days Tony Stewart
I almost forgot Stewart finished 2nd in 2001. Outside of the Sears Point/Bristol wins and his spring Bristol brouhaha with Gordon, I don't remember much from Stewart that year.
Amazing to think he managed to chase down Rudd/Jarrett/Marlin for #2.
Chris Kreager He had 15 top 5's and 22 top 10's so I'd say he had a pretty good year that year!
What about him flipping to start the season, I find it hard to forget that
+Chris Kreager Tony Stewart had a crazy year that year, he kind of capitalized on Dale Jarrett and Ricky Rudd's free fall in the points after Jarrett injured his ribs and the Yates team as a whole struggled in the second half of the year. Robby Gordon.......won........a.......RACE?!
He's won either 3 or 4 in his career, he's quite amazing actually. I bet you didn't know Robby has won in every type of race he's ever competed in. He's also a very nice person.
>He's also a very nice person.
I beg to differ.
This is why tony is my favorite driver!
wonderful foreshadowing smoke lol 😂😂😂
That was the postponed race because of the terrorist attack on Sep 11,2001.I was at that race and when we got there, the seats were frozen over with ice.Pretty damn cold,I think it was in November.
Just days after Thanksgiving if I remember correctly.
i was at that race 10yrs ago...it was freezing my 2nd ever nascar race...love that track
smart guy
358k to retirement
no bentley, jag, jewelry
Woah woah woah... Robbie Gordon won?
Ikr 😲🤣
This reminds me so much of Dale Earnhardt.
So I can get out of this series eventually……buys four car team
Then next year he blows an engine at Daytona finishes last and wins the championship
this is what i love about nascar drivers. There so down to earth and have so much personaltity. They are all fun and like to have fun , and thats what nascar is about to have a good time. F1 guys are nothing like this..

sorry you are 100% wrong, this race was postponed because of 9/11 and they ran thanksgiving weekend
Same beard somehow everyday.
@crookhunter why do you say that? you may think Rusty is a cry baby. buit he had a reason to say what he did, he was not crying for no reason
@jordanashelin18 Hey, you forget in 2002 Sterling Marlin could've won the championship if he didn't break his neck.
Tony stewart is one of those guys who earns shit loads of money and still doesn't act like a spoiled brat
One of my favorite racers from Indiana. The other is Scott Goodyear.
NASCAR's biggest crybaby ever.
Tony's pretty funny. You know, it's kinda crazy, 'cause Tony finished the 2001 season 2nd in the standings, and the next year, he won the championship.
hey he said he has a ring, think he'll marry ME?
And then he wins the championship next season
LOL I had to ask myself the same question. At least he's a fun/happy drunk! lol He's probably not even intoxicated, we're just not used to him being...nice.
I see Smoke got his teeth fixed since then.
Old school Tony.
Worst title EVER.
tony tha shit.....
what are they talking about?
that was a good interview looked fun.
@QuickN1ck lol
That was too damn funny.
TONY IS THE MAN!
Look at the unofficial results folks. In the top 10, 6 of the divers now longer drive. The 4 others are with other teams.
Marshal Jim Duncan and now of all of them, as of 2017, only one races.
And now, no one's left. Gordon and Stewart run elsewhere.
Yep. Down to zero. I used to have one of those 1989 The Winston posters on my wall as a kid and kept track of who was on it. Got down to 0 a few years ago. How things have changed
@RamSST He's just an all around good guy. I've talked to him a few times at the chili bowl and at a race and he's fun to be around.
What the heck are they talking about?!
girlfriends
Was Mike Wallace, not Newman. Newman's '01 car was No. 02, Mike took over the 12 after Penske dropped Mayfield after the Kansas race
@HomeDepot20TS about as classic a moment as you will ever see
i remember this race ...when robby gordon won i was shocked at that
ChevyChevelle48 he only won cus he wrecked Jeff gordon
@14JohnnyRed14 I think tony sees the big picture and knows that by racing the sprint cup he can give the young guys a good start in racing. He owns alot of property involved with racing.
he punted jeff gordon into ryan newman, gordon slid up and got rf damage from hitting newman and newman spun; robbie gordon holds off the field on the restart
Mike Wallace was driving the 12 during this race. (Replaced Jeremy Mayfield near the end of the season).
@USALeadsTheWay actually when he left childress they wanted him to stay really bad but he started his own team anyways
Kevin Ward!
is dead because he was careless
was high as hell and walked into traffic. just plain stupid.
Who? Oh yeah, that idiot that killed himself back in 2014.
He did wreck that years champion to do it.
i fucked up the first time so i have a second try i took it back. lolo
Damn Tony Stewart with just one chin. The good ol days
Is T Stew intoxicated??
Oh, Tony.
:allears:
I included the race page for this race in the description November 23, 2001
were they talking about Krista Voda? lol
alexrex20 no
Yep.
epic not a smoke fan but that was cool
fans are funny the confuse a drivers passion to win, and their disappointment with not winning, with someone who accepts losing, show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser
Haha I never got to see this, our TV was out that Friday.
lol, no now he owns a team, he's all in at this point
The biggest crybaby since Rusty Wallace
@rowdyeverylap show me a good loser and ill show you next years winner!
Robby gordon won that race? now that pisses me the fuck off
hahahahahahahaha!!!
@thekswervedirt he owns his own shit in the series he can leave anytime
@14JohnnyRed14 tony is by far one of the best as fasr as giving back is concerned he throws so much money back into the sport to help the little guys
he didnt beat yocum...
Amazing!!!!
Please tell me he had to wreck somebody to do it....
\
Tony Stewart is a Richard
I was sure (erroneously) that the Louden race was in the first part of the season.
@bigdctherock nah but people from the south, even people from the north who move to the south, find our cold to be a little unbearable.
I dont like Tony Stewart at all but I still laughed at this interview.
my oh my how things have chenged since then :0) thank god
This was several months before 9/11.
you should see how he won that race
That's Tony
well that figures
lol he's been tryin to get out of the series for 10 years.
Hes so hot!!! and Im glad hes not married...lol yet....
were they talking about ingrid jeff gordon's wife? lol
But uh..
Tony looks like a Thug. #ThugLife
Tony Stewart, the only driver to kill another driver on the track and get away with it.
He didn't kill anyone. He did the world a favor
You're still on this? Lol.
Go fuck yourself.
The kid was on drugs and got himself killed when are you gonna understand that
He didn’t kill anyone. The kid killed himself
I hate him.
