Setting up a Podofo Wireless CarPlay Android (Chinese) head unit

- This stereo is great for the money, my only issue is I can’t get the wireless car play to pick up my mic. It works completely fine when I’m using the Bluetooth call, but turn on CarPlay and you can just Barely hear anything.
Ok, some things I had to learn - watch my video for solutions:
-my touch screen touch sensing was flipped left and right - it took forever to figure out how to fix this and you kind of had to get my brain to work right that if I touched on the left side, the right side would activate. But I figured out how to switch it and now it works awesome. But, I almost sent it back this was so disappointing at first.
Steering wheel control. If your vehicle uses canbus, you can’t just hookup steering key and key 2. You need an adapter. I used the Metra ASWC-1. Hook it up, set the stereo to radio type 4 (Sony/dual). Then it worked. In my video I detail this more and share how I mistakenly was trying to program it improperly hopefully you don’t struggle like I did.
-as other mentioned, the stereo was bigger than the bezzel for my car, but I just used a dremel tool to open the opening.
-I wish there were a way to use steering wheel control to activate Siri - but I can use “hey Siri” so not a big deal.
Overall, pretty great stereo for so cheap. The trade off with a radio like this is you have to put in the work to make it useable. So, decide if you want to pay through your time, or pay more $$ and get a radio that’s ready to roll out of the box. This was worth it for me.

I'm so glad I found your video. I had the same problem setting my steering wheel controls. I did exactly what you did. So frustrating. So happy that fixed my steering wheel control problem. Thanks for the helpful video.

Thanks. I was frustrated that I couldn’t get the screen brightness lower and my steering wheel controls wouldn’t work. Never thought to scroll down on that settings screen.
@kentopolis do you have a video showing how you installed the head unit?
The inaudible mic was driving me crazy. What fixed it for me was (on iPhone) going into Google maps and turning on mic (icon at right of search bar). Phone works fine now in carplay!
Do you mean google maps in the phone or the CarPlay or the android?

how reset on delivery condition? 1:49 I unintended pushed the wrong buttons and it's now flipped! If I swipe from left or so it doesn't react in my choice. Already cabled all out and connected again but still unuseful control. Help pls

I just bought from Amazon a Podofo Portable Car Stereo with Wireless Apple Carplay Android Auto, 7 Inch IPS Touchscreen Radio Car Play Screen for Car, Car Audio Receivers with GPS Navi, Bluetooth, Mirror Link, Voice Control. It works, the sound isn’t the greatest but me buying a car with no radio, I’m happy. How do I add more apps onto the Podofo screen via my Apple CarPlay?

How did you change the radio to Sony on the swc module mine recognizes the car but I can’t figure out how to change the radio after that
Honestly, I don't remember - I do know I called customer service for the swc adapter I used and asked them - they were super helpful, walked me through it in like 10 min. and it worked perfectly (that included troublshooting)

I recently bought a stereo from the same brand. for a 2006 jetta but it happens that when activating the directions. The camera opens automatically. the same thing happens to you?. What can I do to prevent it from happening?
It’s been a while since setting it up. I know in car settings there were some camera options, but they were difficult to navigate. I will say I’ve reached out to this company for help and they’ve been very helpful

The Bar at the top has an Icon on the right with two Arrows. When you click it the bar will disapear. In 0:54 it is the third button from right
Where is the factory code to use on the radio?
Do you have climate controls? Did you do anything to set up the AC ?
Climate control is not integrated into this stereo

Mine came with the option harness to hook up an aftermarket amp and the factory amp

it should fit most cars that dont already have car play i believe. it connects via aux cord
Have a very similar unit from this company and it only shows the rear camera when in reverse and when I open the "Auxiliary" app. Is there any trick to getting it to open automatically?
Does it not show in reverse automatically?
@@kentopolis Had a shop look at it and I apparently needed to run another wire and use another harness in addition to the RCA cable to get it to work. Works that way now.

I just installed a smaller version of this stereo. I’ve used several navigation systems (Waze, Google Maps, Apple Maps) and each one skips about a second of audio. Have you encountered anything like this? I’m thinking of returning my unit at this point.
yeah, I've had problems with the audio when in nav systems. I will say this, if you reach out to the podofo, they have been pretty good about sending me firmware updates
My music regularly stutters and skips, any advice to fix it?

The issue of the Mic, it's because when you start Carplay, the radio starts a Hotspot connection, dissabling the bluetooth connection and using the internal mic of the radio as input audio, you can enable the bluetooth on the radio again and sellect the bluetooth as inpunt audio during the call, but, you will have issues with spotify, because the radio will not know if set the exit audio via bluetooth or via Carplay... another solution, is buy an external mic and connect it to the radio. I recomend the second one xD
It has an external mic connected to it. Also, once it connects to the wifi hotspot, it won't allow you to choose the bluetooth...
Does it you head unit turns off when you stop your engine?
Kind of... The unit display turns off, but I've noticed the wifi stays connected to my phone for sometime after. Which means when I'm using carplay my phone continues to think it can play over the headunit even though it is no longer actually on

I considered buying the 8/128 version, but it wasn't what I was thinking.
Look for some multimedia with android auto "normal", that connects as soon as you turn on the bluetooth, without needing to use Zlink, this mobile internet route, etc...
If anyone can suggest one I would be grateful.

I just bought this potofo car 2 din and no manual came with it there are a few thi gs I don't understand, like how to put apps from usb, how to use an off line map anyone can give me some instructions on how to do
I had to connect to my home wifi and download apps from the app store. I'm not sure about offline maps - maybe download them into google maps first? I hope that helps. I typically use my maps on my phone through the carplay because using the apps on the radio for maps seemed to lag.

Zlink is only giving me screen mirroring options
Fixed it - there’s an option in setting to change it to link mode I had mine on screen mirror

Why do you title this video setting up CarPlay in Android Auto? It has nothing to do with setting up car play or Android Auto?
Because that's how the radio is labeled on Amazon, I was doing this for people who had purchased this stereo unit
I believe android auto is the system running the radio and you can use Apple car play through it
