Fascinating o see nature reclaiming the place and I didn't notice any vandalism. That tree in the boardwalk was only recently cut down; the exposed area didn't look weathered and I think there was sawdust nearby. Did I see a coffee mug in that machinery room? Tike Trek keeps finding Christmas decorations and as I watch videos I keep seeing hangers in the closets and coffee mugs in various places. This is one of your best videos, Adam, I especially liked this one.
I was just there a couple of weeks ago and saw that!! Was super creeped out by it. Then returned home to Memphis and suddenly have a newfound penchant for creepy and abandoned amusement parks and attractions... and this is how I discovered you. Already a huge fan, and you're also the current crush at the top of my list as well. ;) Keep truckin', Adam.
I rode that in the early 90s. It was disheveled even then. It was only me and my family on it and it got stuck when we were over the deepest point. Terrified me. I'm not surprised it closed
My first video I watched about the Smokies and my first Adam the Woo video. So nostalgic... Years later I'm making videos from the Smokies. You never know where life will take you.
Addictive viewing Adam, always interesting movies, great work fabulous locations and my tag from over the Pond in Sunderland England, ' I've Joined you, Aint I ? '
I dont know what year this attraction closed, but it was in operation as late as fall of 2001. I rode the chair lift and the bumper boats. Another ride, the one with the swings and you go in a circle and as the ride spins it raises up about 50 ft? Anyway I think that may have been near the end of its existence because most of the people seemed very unhappy!
I rode that chair lift way back right before they closed the park.Long ride to the top just for you not to be allowed to get off and have to ride straight back down again.Fun mountain at that point was nothing but the chair lift a arcade and the mini golf course.
@@annieoneill4437 Wow! After seven years I get a response to a comment! As a child and even early teen my parents took my younger brother and I on "alternating years vacations". One year it would be to Myrtle Beach while the next year it would be to the North Carolina and Tennessee mountains where there a number of tourist attractions (traps?). My personal favorites were those spent in the mountains with Gatlinburg being the best in my book at least. I have very fond memories of the chairlift and the attractions at the top. As a young adult I returned to Gatlinburg on my own vacations and relived, so to speak, my childhood by taking the chairlift to the top and enjoying many of those same attractions. I think I was in my mid-forties when I visited Gatlinburg with the intent of once again taking the chairlift to the top and enjoying the attractions but alas, on that trip at least, the chairlift was not working I was told then by a local resident that the entire operation had been shut down due to low attendance and maintenance problems. Needless to say, I was disappointed, but I did enjoy my stay in Gatlinburg and the surrounding area even though I felt like the visit was not as "complete" as I had hoped it would be. Oh well, like they say, you can't recapture your youth.
@@annieoneill4437 I think it was in the late spring of 1992 or maybe 1993. I do recall going to the top of the tower there in town and using binoculars to get a look at the top of Fun Mountain and could make out the top end of the chairlift and a building (painted yellow if memory serves me correctly) behind and slightly to one side of the chairlift. Since it has been so long since I was personally at the top of Fun Mountain, I don't know for sure what that building was. The last time I was in Gatlinburg was in 2000 and the chairlift was shut down and really looking kind of forlorn and getting pretty rusty. Writing this I do recall from back in the early 1970s what a big deal it was when it came to taking the chairlift to the top (and back down for that matter) after dark. Long strands of bright white lights really made it a beauty to behold from ground level. It looked kind of like something out of a fairy tale. I did not see anything like that until I was in the Army and stationed in what was then West Germany (Bavaria).
In all reality Adam. Sewers aren't very sanitary at all.. Hahahaha.. No matter what you do, you always seem to brighten my day up with a smile and a laugh.
What Adam didn't share was the reason why the park had to close. One day a strong wind picked up and the chairs on that sky ride swayed wildly and someone was impaled to death by one of those tree spikes!
I used to live about an hour from Gatlinburg. I know where this is located. Someone else did a video from here and it is possible to get to the top. At the time, there wasn't anyone living along the route to the top nor at the top but that doesn't mean someone hasn't bought part of the land and built something....or could be squatters.
Next you should go to the shut down 6 flags/Geauga Lake in Cleveland Ohio. It was shut down a while back and some of the rides are still up but are kind of rusted and some are gone. Would be awesome to see whats left of it now
Why are there so many abandoned places in America, in England you would never find an abandoned place older than 3 months as they are rebuilt/ repurposed almost immediately.
what I was hearing was a lot of amusement parks was owned by timeshare people and a lot of con artistsso what would happen is they will ask new people to invest in their amusement park and then these people would take their money and run awayI was hearing there's about a thousand or more amusement parks.are abandon in the usa
Cause there is still plenty of available land here, and it costs more to tear down and remove old structures to reuse the land, verses building on new ground.
Adam, do you ever take piece of any of the abandoned places you visit as a keepsake? Or are the videos enough for you? I'm sure you've come across some pretty cool pieces of history.
That is what I do every year when I go to fun mountain when I first discovered it was 2014. 2021 was when I took a tile from the concessions and write the year on the back
Ahhhhhh I thought you were afraid of heights?? I was nervous just watching. Not sure whether you're brave or out of your mind to pull that off by yourself. But...Thanks for getting us a good view from above. 😃
anymore adventures with Co-D anytime soon? I miss those, Co-D is so damned cool, even if you don't get to him anytime soon, I'll still watch the videos and love 'em. P.S. Adam, you're also so damned cool!
In the Six Flags amusement park the lost and found pile of phones and a GBA are still in the exact spot on one of the equipment storage roll up window shelves.Still there in the same position as the day the park was flooded by Hurricane Catrina for 3 months and abandoned.there are about 50-60 old phones lost there
I have a question what did the chairlift path look like I mean the ground because now it is completely filled with trees. So was it like flat grass like somones lawn
that place did look creapy along with the tunnel how do u find out about places like this and have the cops ever stoped u? i would do something like this
As a chairlift operator for ski resorts, I've never heard them called anything but chair lifts, or funiculars. So sky ride sounds pretty silly to me. Also That looks an awful lot like a Riblet brand double chairlift. The standard in fixed grip funiculars here in the US
That happens due to how the chairs are attached. The top section of each chair has a fork that is woven into the cable. Move one chair, and it transfers the movement down the cable to other chairs.
There's some kind of creepy whistling in the tunnel at 1:05. !olleH Um, that's just an old ski lift. It kinda sounds like a voice at 2:54. "Raise the pay!" ??? Maybe no one told her the place is closed. She's still clocking in, wondering why everyone's always avoiding her. You pushed the button and a guy says "Going up!!" at 3:50. That's probably not a "Help me!!" at 5:24.Just my imagination. Yeah, I'm not hearing that. Just my imagination. Can you imagine if you fell from way up on top of the pole and landed dazed in the grass, and the jungle people came and ate you alive! Boy that would sure suck. Wouldn't want that to happen. No sirie Bob. Hey, as always, Thanx for exploring.
+70's greatest rock bands / another Doctor Who fan very cool. I think this is a helpful tip to better hear the EVPs (ghost voices captured with the audio equipment). You can click on the scroll bar at the bottom of the video right at the time the EVP is listed to listen right at that spot of the video where the EVP is heard. You can click on the scroll ball as many times as you like to listen to the EVP repeatedly. This gives you a better chance to hear the ones that are harder to hear. Thanx take care.
A creepy fun explore, Very WOO-Hitchcock'esc "The Birds" Crows will peck at your eyes first, then steal your soul!! Unless you have eaten a tin of Spinach :)

Wow here’s an oldie but goodie. Adam you were a trip back in the days. Love watching the old one too. ❤
"Get away from the abandoned sky ride, tree branches."🌲🌳
LOL😸
I rode that in the early 90s. It was disheveled even then. It was only me and my family on it and it got stuck when we were over the deepest point. Terrified me. I'm not surprised it closed
I was on one is Lake Winnie in GA and usually when you get stuck it's someone misbehaving on the lift or a disabled person
ANOTHER GREAT SHORT MR.WOO...LOVIN IT...THANK'S ADAM...
This is so amazing. That the only ride left there is the Sky Ride. I love how the trees and bushes have grown over into the rides.
One of the best RUclipsrs I know, Respect and Greetings from Germany
I would love to see some drive in video's. But wherever you go I'm sure to watch. So have fun doing you, Mr. Woo;)

Reminds me of the old skyride at the elitch amusement park in Denver, CO. Ah, memories.
I dont know what year this attraction closed, but it was in operation as late as fall of 2001. I rode the chair lift and the bumper boats. Another ride, the one with the swings and you go in a circle and as the ride spins it raises up about 50 ft? This is a dumb question on the concrete slab there are pipes on there so did the have bathrooms on there
I rode that chair lift way back right before they closed the park.Long ride to the top just for you not to be allowed to get off and have to ride straight back down again.Fun mountain at that point was nothing but the chair lift a arcade and the mini golf course.
Worked there for 2 years and operated every ride. Good memories.
Hahaha the part were ***** climbed up the ladder and made that funny face 😂 awesome place
Love your videos Adam :) keep on the great work, been a fan for ages! Love looking at abandoned places and you make it so funny :)
I live here in East Tennessee, almost in Gatlinburg. I could've showed you more lol. I remember riging this one, but now we have a new one.
This was my first Adam the Woo video! :)
Once upon a time that was one the top attractions in Gatlinburg. Rode it many times a both a child and an adult.
What do you remember of fun mountain

You have gotten a lot better with your vloges. Would love to see more abandoned site's with the steadier camera you have gained. Still 😙 old vloges.
Excellent job as usual Adam.
Tunnel Looks like "The walking Dead" Tunnel when Maggie and Glen were stuck in the Rocks.
Omg yes! I love The Walking Dead and when he walked through it I thought the same thing xD
The tree root looked like a shoe
+i love ticci toby Yes , it looks boots .
I parked my car outside of the creepy tunnel but the valet never came to park my car. All kidding aside - LOVE THIS!

Hay Adam, at 6:23 there was another cart moving by itself behind you. I don't know it was the wind or the cart that you pushed moved it.
