Your persistent hanger will be as large as the biggest ship you have bought with real cash, sudden rush to melt ships and buy the biggest thing you can teehee. It's shaping up nicely this year, looking forward to more persistence progress to get us to bases and the Pioneer!
I think this update is really going to make people think about what ships they're using. Ships like the Freelancer Max, Connies and Corsair will be fun to load up manually but on your own with a C2, Cat or Starfarer? Probably will need the automated approach
@XeroCreator Yes, I fully agree that some ships are screwed where they are not updated enough to work with new systems. We can agree that when we get to a "full release," these issues hopefully are resolved. In the meantime, the Carrack is crippled when it comes to cargo.
Curious, if the hangers are instanced and physically overlap. What happens when 2 ships that happen to be overlapped take off? How far away from these hangers does the instanced area extend?
Even until today I was always VERY careful when putting any physicalized object inside my ship. A little box can make the ship bounce around as if the ship had no weight at all and finally go boom. :( Then again, when un/loading your ship outside your protected hangar space, you lack any sort of warning when someone approaches. The first warning you get is when they hit your ship. But then it's far too late to even reach your bridge and react. This forces everyone to work in teams of at least two.
Ships purchased in game will not increase the size of the personal hanger was a real slap to the face. The only ship I could afford to pledge was an arroura but I have over 20 ships in my fleet so great... I won't get to use my hanger for 90% of the ships in my fleet. I was really hoping this game would be playable on a budget but I guess it just isn't ever gonna be.
Yeah, this is troubling. It suggests to me that they intend for the game progression to be a factor of IRL budgeting if in-game purchases aren't as "real." Not "gotta save up UEC for that C2" and instead "gotta eat out less this month for that C2."
This means personnal hangar can only be located on planete ( new babage, area18, ...) ? or if I set my respawn location on space station my personnal hangar will be too ? and soo on if I change my spanw location later does my personnal hangar will be move too ?
really curious if they'll do a full real wipe, wiping in game aUEC bought ships and inventory for a clean slate as if you only pledged a starter small ship, where's the c2 gonna go in the tiny hangers? Hows the cargo gameplay going to work outside of the personal hangers where none of the fancy personalized things are on standby? And why only scale the personal hanger to pledged ship sizes when the plan has "always been" to make all ships avalible some how in the game? Intentionally making over sized ships that don't fit with whatever slightly smaller pad you have far more inaccessible is rather odd... almost encouraging me to just buy a bigger pledged ship or something to not worry about it, which sounds crazy when said out loud.
That would be nice, but somehow I kind like having 100 armor boxes just randomly tossed into the back of my avenger. Some of them always glitch out of the cargo area when I blast off 🎉
@@Justinl12086 yah i think for that sort is fine. I was mostly meaning for delivery boxes and small resource boxes like the drug ones. I just was wanting to be able to use the cargo bay in my 325A for deliveries.
They need to standardise the sizes of those smaller boxes to be 1/4 SCU and 1/8 SCU and then have them snap to the grid along with the 1 SCU (and larger) boxes.
@@Siygess based on the most recent vids I have seen from 3.24. there is a video of a guy placing a hand carried box onto a cargo grid and on top of another box. Both you could see the ghost image of it snapping. I also heard (I think Mike?) mention that weapons and armor will snap to grid as well.
The biggest thing CIG need to do is sort the flow for inventory management and the UI for the terminals. We need to be able to rapidly search for items and filter far better, double click items to have them transfer, and not lose the prior session if the terminal decides to magically log you out in the middle of trying to equip all the gear, forcing you to repeat the whole process. Similarly we need quality of life for vehicles in the instanced hangars: if I have a huge hangar, let me pull out a Carrack plus Ursa and Pisces and two hoverbikes (for example) all spawned and assigned to positions on it like a cargo grid, in a single pull request. Don’t force me to pull every single one, run over to it, park it to the side, go back and do it all again and again, especially when the animation is very cool but incredibly slow (appropriate for large ships and I like that, but so annoying to do over and over). I think the community is going to complain big time at the drop in quality of life and hassle being added here. It reminds me of when they punished players b by stopping med beds fully replenishing your thirst and hunger and accelerating the whole depletion. Now we die in a couple of hours of play from thirst, it’s all fairly tedious and unnecessary. Sure, we get you want the immersion, that’s fine, but don’t stop players from having fun too. The prospect of hours to auto or manually unload cargo also sounds quite tedious if I’m honest, just as all the box stacking in the Reclaimer can be too. CIG need to think this stuff through, because making everything super administrative when the world now automates so much, does leave me thinking they’ve not got a cohesive plan for how to make the game fun.
I'm confused. So the biggest purchased ship I have is the Cutlass Black however I have got the Catapillar in game does that mean I will never be able to fly it again? Will it be deleted from my game when hangers come to the PU?
I'm fine with the _ability_ to manually move cargo. I'm not fine with the _requirement_ of moving cargo or else having any kind of wait timer or fees associated with having them moved automatically. If you want the immersion and investment of manual handling, great, more power to you, but it doesn't feel like it's very respectful of player time to change this so drastically for everyone regardless of preferences. Much the same with the inventory system. The gear storage kiosks can supplement inventory and replace some of the more weird aspects of the current system, but there's no need to fully replace the existing inventory system entirely, especially when you're in a personal hangar or in your ship moving things between ground vehicles and the ship they're stored in (thinking the ROC and clearing its storage to mine longer). The removal of convenience for the sake of immersion seems to go against everything CR has held in the past, that "realism" wouldn't be strictly adhered to if it got in the way of enjoyment.
You said it. Nobody wants to get off from work and play Tetris for an hour moving cargo when it could just automatically load it for you like it does now so you can …. Idk play the game? Also making people wait 5 hours for “ai” to load it??? What is this a mobile game with restrictions?
I agree and ive was thinking about this myself. I just recently started playing this game as a game and not a tech demo when 3.23.1 released and ive finally bought more ships in game. I was surprised thar having multiple ships opens up much faster travel. My corsair takes like 17 min to claim and the avenger is around 5 min. I can do a mission with the avenger get shot down, claim the avenger at my spawn and fly to where the corsair is hangered in less than the 17 corsair claim time. Imagine having multiple cargo ships and using one while the other is loading...I see this as a push to buy more (expensive) ships
This has been the direction the game was intended to go for years now. The balance for earnings is there between the timers for auto-cargo and those teams (or solo) perfecting the loading process. As compared to time for mining or other professions. Heck, even bounty hunting will get similar treatment when you can (need?) to haul your targets to stations for the most money.
@ericwollaston5654 I agree Eric. This new system might seem like an inconvenience, but it's actually about to expand on the reason to own multiple ships and/or crew up
I just had a thought for cargo play. At cost some SCU space a mod for our ships, and maybe hangars, that would help to keep the unstable cargoes, the ones that have a time limit before exploding or going to zero value, more stable shown as some additional time to haul the cargo.
Might have missed something, but it sounds like those who have a base game pack (like a game and Aurora package) but have worked to purchase a ship in game like a C2 for example, will not be able to use it in our “personal” hanger? If so, that really really sucks…
Awesome to see the hangers coming to life. For me that's huge. The way we've been doing it was never fun to me and always felt very clunk and unintuitive. Probably faster than doing it "by hand" in the hanger, but I'll probably take that trade as often as not on smaller cargo actions. Plus, now all that extra stuff some of us have can have a home.
having personal hangers is great but whats to stop someone from camping outside your hanger, like people do now, then sneaking into it or crashing a ship destroying everything you have in there?
I am looking forward to a persistent "home" with possibly a more intuitive interface. It will certainly be fun to try out when it becomes available. I expect of course that there will be issues and features that need to be refined or made more practical. I am honestly wondering how this will feel in terms of "game is realistic" vs "game is fun."
I can’t believe the delivery missions are getting fixed up. I’ve always dreamt of doing more than 0-2 delivery missions before the game crashes, server recovers, or I fall through the ground and lose the mission by logging off and on again
The whole lowering weapons thing is nice but the problem is you never can actually tell where other players are located in the game, let alone if they are holding a gun or not. So, while that's a cool little feature, it's pointless at this point. In my opinion, at least.
What about bugged/broken cargo grids? Once I attach cargo to my grid on the reclaimer I can't remove it. Not sure how I'm going to be able to put It on the cargo elevator to sell it.
I don't get that part about ships bought in game don't increase the size of the hangar... so if you don't own a carrack yet, but you get your personal hangar, and then you buy a carrack, how does it fit in your hangar??
Really looking forward to the hangars! Going to be an interesting change for inventory but much more immersive. I think the cargo loading needs the speed enhancement options with say more NPCs to load or something so there is that sort of cost/benefit option
I want big screen displays for aUEC purchase in my hanger. There could be Star Citizen weekly news and we could watch movies and video call other players in the verse.
Ok so, still confused on the hangar thing. Its based on largest, currently flyable ship attributed to your account? Does this take loaners into consideration?
Remember the beer and soda towers in the grocery store? That's gonna be my hanger. Lol they are bringing the block gameplay to star citizen. What a genre mesh.
Bored Gamer have you tried out the Docking Ports at Stations in 3.24?? 3.23.1A I am still experiencing the Docking Ports not connecting with my Hull C. It really kills the game for me with wanting to use my Hull C.
If ships bought in game do not increase the size of the personal hangar then how will we retrieve ships that we may purchase that are larger than the hangar we have? Biggest ship I own with real money is a connie andromeda, so if I want to buy a reclaimer then how will I go about retrieving that ship?
3.24 bring it on! We need a boat load of fixes in the PU right now - so many issues while playing the last couple of days. We thought XT was at fault, but now that's over, the issues continue to persist and seem to be multiplying. Please CIG fix or update ASAP. Thank you Boring, for the information presented here - keep up the great work.
One thing I worry about, say I'm selling RMC and a locations admin has no demand for the RMC at that location - are you going to be able to know that before unloading your ship or will you have to unload, potentially find you can't sell the items and then either wait or reload the ship to bring it somewhere else? I'd like to be able to at least preview the market demand from the hangar
I posted in spectrum under "Feature Requests" a long time ago about the "Carry Lowered" and keybind (as well as a safety) and caught all kinds of -REDACTED- for it. Apparently I'm asking for an RP thing rather than function. For people who actually use firearms IRL where the same rules for safely handling firearms will keep you from shooting your mates in game ( and remember that friendly fire damage is always ON), this seems like kind of a no-brainer. Cat bumps your mouse and BANG! you've just shot SkizwillikerX in the back . . . pretty sure he's gonna mind.
If the ship inventory is going away, are the storage lockers inside ships for armor and suits now going to actually permit you to store armor and suits there? AND will we be able to put weapons, multi-tools, med tools, etc. in our hands in an armistice zone so that we can store them in the weapons slots on ships?
I am actually excited for the cargo updates the most. I am hoping for point to point (to point) cargo transfer missions. From space stations to cargo facilities to random out of the way places.
I think my only worry is WHERE the ships will spawn in the hanger.. I foresee running a long way to get into my C8 on an XL pad every time I want to leave..
from what I heard cargo loading time is 'stupidly' slow at the moment, but I cannot think CIG can be so disconnected that they can believe having a game loop/action/step that actually makes a player leave the game for X hours (to play something else, while the cargo is loading) is a good idea
What possible justification is there to tie personal hangar size to how much money you gave CIG? So if you spent a reasonable amount of money on a starter ship and grinded for your own (insert cool large ship) you don't get a hangar that can fit it? I genuinely don't understand. I must be misunderstanding this.
its a scummy tactic to try and make those, who are just furstrated with the new p2whangar but invested enough into the game, pay that premium so they can be rid of their 2nd grade citizen status, because they have that money laying around and aren't very financially responsible. and it works every time. people will buy the biggest possible hangar with the cheapest possible ship, that they didn't need and want before, just so that they aren't left out. CiG just started monetising another gameplay system, apart from ships, even though it happens through ship sales, they now monetised hangars and they are purely P2W as you cannot buy them ingame. The whales will argue that you will be able to buy them ingame. For all anyone should care, that feature is not on the roadmap even. And for all anyone knows, it could and probably will be years away. For me, this entire feature has soured the patch and generally the anticipation to play any further patches. I'm even thinking about refunding the game tbh. This is such a p4. th333 ti cc move from CiG. There was no need to go about it in such a scumbag way, especially not since they mde a frickton of money from the last ILW.
Now they need to do some ship updates so you can manually do cargo loading or easier cargo loading carrack for one and the reclaimer needs a ramp at the back it looks like one would be there anyway beside the elevators that will take forever to unload
I guess my question regarding hanger size is if you decide to buy a bigger ship in pledge store after they implement the personal hangers will that then translate into bigger hanger in game?
Do we have word if intersecting astroids will be resolved? have collision meshes? same for some spacestation surfaces? would be more emersive for sure.
This is going to be awesome. Yeah I'm definitely jumping in again for 3.24. I'm excited to decorate my hangar! I really wish they'd handle the hardware periph binding better though. I have to manually edit my keybind profile in a text editor almost every time I turn on my computer. Boot up SC, find out which controller is registered as which input, quit to desktop. edit profile. load SC, load saved profile again, check to make sure I got it right. I"m starting to develop dyslxia...
This is all good and well, but I want to know when I can reclaim lost pledge items. No one uses them because it just takes one random glitch and you lose it. There's a million item kiosks now, but not ONE for our pledge gear??
Based on out pledges, a lot of players have access to multiple types of hangars (industrial, aeroview etc). Does that mean they are getting more than one hangar at their home location?
Fantastic! 🤩🎉 I have a question though. What happens to the tier system for the hangars? Is that still a thing? I'm guessing it is since the ironclad was sold with an industrial hangar. I just haven't been able to find any recent information on it. Thanks for tirelessly keeping us all in the loop 👌
Can't wait to try this out. But I see what they did there. The hanger will only be as big as the largest ship on your account. So having a smaller ship but working towards a Carrack in game will not get you a personal hanger that will fit the Carrack. So if you want that you gotta put out the IRL cash for the Carrack. I would hope that eventually you will be able to upgrade your hanger in game for any bigger ships you buy in game. Or at the very least in full CIG fashion be able to buy a larger hanger to put on your account with cash.. And maybe this will just be a short term problem and in some future patch the game will just give you a bigger hanger when you get a bigger ship in game and that is just not in this patch.
I hope they do something about the backpack sizes. They can’t store anything really useful now. Ideally there will end up being a lot of stuff that fits in there that can be sold. But as it is now if you want to loot on foot you need to carry a box with your space magic beam or drag every corpse out to your ship. Of course now dragging them out to the ship won’t work unless you have the box in there.
Exciting times to be playing Star Citizen! 3.24 seems to be bringing major changes to how we play the game and I'm very much looking forward to all it brings to the game :)
Questions... 1. You said 'flyable ship' so does that mean if you own a capital but only have a carrack or hammerhead as a loaner, you'll only get a L instead of XL hangar and thus have way less storage? 2. Physical inventory would be fine... except ships like the carrack are going to be an absolute pain to load without the rumored 'ramps' on the cargo pods. very annoying. 3. i haven't seen much on cargo missions, but nice to know cargo missions are coming!
With the instanced hangers will we have issues launching our ships, say 3 people request launch as a reclaimer will it still only be one "spawn" point from the planet surface. Will be interesting to see.
They need to fix the keybindings issues for joysticks. When using the trigger buttons they are pushing buttons that one cannot change, then it will stop recognizing your joysticks altogether. Currently using dual sticks, throttle, and peddles.

@@ericwollaston5654 Loading in ships that are 'loadable' manually is fun, but if you have a carrack you're pretty much forced to load them auto :(
@XeroCreator Yes, I fully agree that some ships are screwed where they are not updated enough to work with new systems. We can agree that when we get to a "full release," these issues hopefully are resolved. In the meantime, the Carrack is crippled when it comes to cargo.
YAY!
Been waiting for this video!
Thank You for your undying enthusiasm. ❤
Thanks for watching and being part of it all xD
Curious, if the hangers are instanced and physically overlap. What happens when 2 ships that happen to be overlapped take off? How far away from these hangers does the instanced area extend?
The bugs to come with the cargo will be insane
Not bugs only alpha features
@@SuperGT3.2V6 premium features 👌
Even until today I was always VERY careful when putting any physicalized object inside my ship. A little box can make the ship bounce around as if the ship had no weight at all and finally go boom. :(
Then again, when un/loading your ship outside your protected hangar space, you lack any sort of warning when someone approaches.
It suggests to me that they intend for the game progression to be a factor of IRL budgeting if in-game purchases aren't as "real."
Not "gotta save up UEC for that C2" and instead "gotta eat out less this month for that C2."
Feels p2w imo. Wonder if this will get changed if they ever remove ship purchases.
They’ve already said in future iterations you will be able to rent personal hangers. Those will be for your in game ships. Easy.
@G33ZLY still, best bet seems to be buy the biggest ship for the hanger size. Hmm have to figure out what ship will get me a large or xl
@@G33ZLY when? like in future iterations of the "temporary map" that has been "temporary" for half a decade?
I'm excited for cargo missions. We need the industrial base of the star citizen pyramid to be strengthened.
That, and not running 3-4 different places for 10 boxes just to get 45k xD
I'm just happy that we can finally play with our hangar flairs again, it's been a long time
This means personnal hangar can only be located on planete ( new babage, area18, ...) ? or if I set my respawn location on space station my personnal hangar will be too ? and soo on if I change my spanw location later does my personnal hangar will be move too ?
that mule confidently backing up into the abyss just cracks me up
really curious if they'll do a full real wipe, wiping in game aUEC bought ships and inventory for a clean slate as if you only pledged a starter small ship, where's the c2 gonna go in the tiny hangers? Hows the cargo gameplay going to work outside of the personal hangers where none of the fancy personalized things are on standby? And why only scale the personal hanger to pledged ship sizes when the plan has "always been" to make all ships avalible some how in the game? Intentionally making over sized ships that don't fit with whatever slightly smaller pad you have far more inaccessible is rather odd... almost encouraging me to just buy a bigger pledged ship or something to not worry about it, which sounds crazy when said out loud.
I hope they do!
not super happy about it being sized to your pledged ships =\ hopefully that scales as you buy things
Finally winning a Bored Gamer giveaway after trying for the last 9 years, would be fantastic
🤣
We really need the small handheld boxes to be able to snap to the cargo grid. it would help so many missions.
So... To access larger ships purchased with in game currency players will do what? Use an asop terminal in the lobby still?
Imagine having multiple cargo ships and using one while the other is loading...I see this as a push to buy more (expensive) ships
your comment doesnt feel very respectful of developer time
This has been the direction the game was intended to go for years now.
This new system might seem like an inconvenience, but it's actually about to expand on the reason to own multiple ships and/or crew up
I hope they add more fauna to the game soon so we can get more "Kill Boars in the Forest" missions.
maybe some sort of water fauna but they already proved the concept so no point until beta tbh
I hope they get armor lockers working soon. That should help with the ship storage issues.
I just had a thought for cargo play. At cost some SCU space a mod for our ships, and maybe hangars, that would help to keep the unstable cargoes, the ones that have a time limit before exploding or going to zero value, more stable shown as some additional time to haul the cargo.
Some sort of armour display/storage would be great, especially if it helps them get armour lockers on ships up and running.
Those quotation marks are more appropriate for "persistent".
Going to be a lot of fun just playing around in the hangar, using it to check out the ships without worrying someone is trying to sneak in
What about bugged/broken cargo grids? Once I attach cargo to my grid on the reclaimer I can't remove it. Not sure how I'm going to be able to put It on the cargo elevator to sell it.
I just love the idea of having an easy chair and a tv in a massive ship hanger
great summarize. Love to watch your content. Thank you :)
I don't get that part about ships bought in game don't increase the size of the hangar... so if you don't own a carrack yet, but you get your personal hangar, and then you buy a carrack, how does it fit in your hangar??
Thanks for the indepth video and all the info. I am pretty excited for 3.24 cargo stuff.
Really looking forward to the hangars! Going to be an interesting change for inventory but much more immersive. I think the cargo loading needs the speed enhancement options with say more NPCs to load or something so there is that sort of cost/benefit option
What’s happens if the largest ship in your account is an aurora and you buy a caterpillar in game? Where do you call it to?
I want big screen displays for aUEC purchase in my hanger. There could be Star Citizen weekly news and we could watch movies and video call other players in the verse.
Ok so, still confused on the hangar thing. Its based on largest, currently flyable ship attributed to your account? Does this take loaners into consideration?
This feels like the most comprehensive and succinct breakdown of 3.24 out there! Nicely done, BG! 🎉
I have a premonition that my hanger will end up full of crap
Remember the beer and soda towers in the grocery store? That's gonna be my hanger. Lol they are bringing the block gameplay to star citizen. What a genre mesh.
Poop party?
Been waiting on Personal Hangars for a long long time. Very satisfying to see them almost here.
Bored Gamer have you tried out the Docking Ports at Stations in 3.24?? 3.23.1A I am still experiencing the Docking Ports not connecting with my Hull C. It really kills the game for me with wanting to use my Hull C.
Thanks for the info! didn't watch much, will come over later for more detailed info.
Misc plos
I've been practising with containers since the were available. I always keep a small box of beer, hotdogs and burritos ready for long journeys.👍🏼
does your hanger size increase if one of your now flyable ships come into game and its bigger than your last biggest ship?
Any confirmation on if when 3.24 hits the live servers it will require us to choose a new starting location?
I got my entire hangar planned out! Living area, collections, weapons corner, morgue, etc
Every patch seems to be recreating this game and launching it closer to release. Been a long while but worth the wait
If the ship inventory is going away, are the storage lockers inside ships for armor and suits now going to actually permit you to store armor and suits there? AND will we be able to put weapons, multi-tools, med tools, etc. in our hands in an armistice zone so that we can store them in the weapons slots on ships?
I am pretty excited for the changes. Hopefully we can test this here soon on the live PTU.
who is ready to bet that the stuff not in testing now is gonna be pushed back to 3.24.1?
I am actually excited for the cargo updates the most. I am hoping for point to point (to point) cargo transfer missions. From space stations to cargo facilities to random out of the way places.
I think my only worry is WHERE the ships will spawn in the hanger.. I foresee running a long way to get into my C8 on an XL pad every time I want to leave..
It seems like its never the full patch, which seems to lead to why things added later aren't as well tested and end up buggy for release.
from what I heard cargo loading time is 'stupidly' slow at the moment, but I cannot think CIG can be so disconnected that they can believe having a game loop/action/step that actually makes a player leave the game for X hours (to play something else, while the cargo is loading) is a good idea
The removal of invisible inventory will hurt older ships without weapons racks or suit lockers.
I heard that the ships will keep the invisible inventory just the planet side one will be gone. At this point its all hear-say tho.
Bring on this patch. Can not wait for personal hangers. Thanks once again for all the up to date star citizen news. Oh boy I'm excited.
The way this works there isn't a way to bring up two ships right? Like if I wanted to bring up a Carrack and then a snub to put in it?
This is all good and well, but I want to know when I can reclaim lost pledge items. No one uses them because it just takes one random glitch and you lose it. There's a million item kiosks now, but not ONE for our pledge gear??
It'd be cool to have places to store clothes, gear, and food in our instanced hangar.
I'm so excited for this patch that I haven't played in weeks, because of how impactful the changes are going to be
Big fan of your videos! Thank you for making them, I always learn something new!
What is the total game size upto? (IE doing a total load from scratch) over 100GB but it has been awhile since I loaded it up.. like last PC ago
Forget Covalex, I need starting options for a benys delivery career. Thanks for the roundups and news updates BG and congrats on the move in.
Thanks for the info!!! Looking forward to it, hopefully it comes soon
I’m most excited about storing up goods for a time and selling them all at once when I need something. And also having a big hanger for the C1
So glad we are getting these features! great video thanks for all the updates!
