Wow, your nail gun finally has an "undo" function!
I just thought of a great use. For putting up the braces when you frame a wall and stand it. Real quick to put in, yet easy to get back down. It would also be great for the blocking nailed to the floor for the braces. Thanks for sharing Izzy.
Good man
OK, I've been in the trades (carpenter) for over 30 years and have never seen these before. I'm going to have to find some and give them a try. Thanks for the info and keep those video's coming.
Dude they been out for at least 15 years....
Corona has chocked off the supply
Scrails
My dad used to nail on cabinet back panels with screws, this was in the 1960ies. His comment, when asked why, was
"better a nailed screw than a screwed nail" ;)
Nope,just lazy
My dad did too!!
Cameraman: "How about aluminum?"
Izzy: You're a sick man. Let's do it."
My attention went straight to that shirt.
That would be a great slogan for a tee
Was thinking the same thing
What a great way to start the day ... Izzy, thanks for the smiles!
LOL Izzy - your shirt fits so well with this application!!! Never knew they had screws for the nail gun. I have the same framing nailer. I'm sold on this idea!
Glad to see you WALKING around the shop. The nail gun trick is cool too...
That is such a cool product! Awesome video Izzy. Seeing your reactions to the screws going through the walnut and whatever brazilian oily wood is pretty funny.
Such a simple, clever idea. It's amazing that all it really took was a change of angle of the thread to achieve such an effective result.
Absolutely fantastic to see you on your feet again good sir. Love and respect for your tenacity and creativity as always..
This is definitely cool enough for one video. Stuff like this is 100% why I've been a sub for years. Thanks!
I work at a staging company and we make loads of one off decking for various shows and productions. I have often wondered if I could do this to speed things up. We primarily use 1" maple ply and sometimes 1" Baltic birch ply. Seeing it go through the aluminum is all I needed to see for me to try it. We're only push 2" screws so I think it'll wolr like a charm, Thanks so much for this Izzy!
When I was an apprentice and we were crating jobs, a journeyman told me that the slot in the head of the screw was only to remove it. We never dreamed of such a cool way of pounding them in. Also we were using a brace to drive screws back then. Thanks Izzy for informing us of things that we wouldn’t even think of to look into.
Awesome video Izzy. Love these short ones :)
Excellent video, I appreciate the straight forward nature of this video.
DUDE!!!!! How did I not know about these?!?! So Awesome! Thank You Izzy
These would be amazing at work for building shipping boxes. we gl through a to of nails and the guys are always pulling them out.
Legend says that you should be able to use the nail gun to unscrew them by connecting it throught a shopvac 😂
You know all u have to do is put you comperser on reserve?
@@51-FS Better yet maybe hook it up to your leaf blower then just switch it between blow and vac.
Izzy, you are the man. Keep up the cool my man.
That’s effing game changing. Thank you for this.
Absolutely love your videos
I use to do furniture showrooms and built tons of temporary walls.would have made money on the demo for sure.
Thats crazy man. Love it. Big Thumbs Up
COOL! Those are awesome, thank you, Izzy!
i actually remember a "ask this old house" where Tommy went to help with a deck install and used nail in screws, he just didn't give any product descriptions
That's Crazy Brother... I Love It👍
THAT SHIRT IS EPIC!
how on earth...this might be the coolest thing ive seen in my life!!!
WOW!! I will be getting some screws for my mail gun. Thanks for the tip Izzy
I like it. Got to get some. Thank you, Izzy.
Wow! That's really impressive, Izzy! 😮
And I agree with the other guy, perfect t-shirt for the video! 😂
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Nice set if flat saws behind ya. I just started using flat saws and It's become one of my favorite saws.
thank you. You the MAN Izzy!!!!
That's awesome, I will definitely have to try that out
Izzy’s next video: “You can drive a framing nail with a screwdriver!”
Does my sds-plus hammer drill count as a screw driver?
MrNoobed Absolutely! As long as it’s not plugged in, of course.
Hey, I think that's the same framing nailer I bought for resheets. It's a great little gun! It might not get as many shots on a full load as the coil style paslode or hitachi but I think I prefer the clip style. You can fit as many clips in your pouch as you want to carry and they reload super easy.
I like the idea of shooting to leave them a little proud, and then following up with impact driver to finish them off.
so cool!!!! Got to try those!!!!
That is going to be so awesome for temporary installs (pop-up markets, show stalls, etc)
Great video. BTW you look great (back pain wise)
Great idea!
Love that I now know this!!! Thanks!
Yeah that's awesome I need to check it out
Wow, that's cool, never would of thought.
I've never seen these... Definitely going to look for some scrails next subfloor or deck I do.
Do they make them in 1.25" so I can hang rock with it??!
I would use these for my shop projects. Shop projects are something I always want to build super quick but I want them to last too.
You definitely chose the right shirt to wear while shooting this video!
I’m amazed thanks for the video
I was with you until you shot the walnut. That hurt my heart man.
Its just walnut. The monkey pod was way more valuable and beautiful
@@izzyswan You say, "It was just walnut." How dare you?
In the name of science
I found you last night and I am having a ball looking at your stuff. I did send in a question for help and I think if it can be done you are the person to tell us how.
Izzy, thank you!
Now I know those are a thing! Thanks!!!
Gotta love that cackle!
That looks cool.
I'm wondering how well these grip compared to the standard nails and similar sized screws. Oooh, maybe a job for Matthias Wandel?
@projectfarm
Yeah that's what I wanna know.
I'd like to see high speed of the screw as it's being driven by the nailer. I want to see how much the screw thread forces the screw to turn.
@@Tfaonc I agree, Matt. How many pounds of pressure does it take to pull one of these screws out? Project Farm did an experiment with fasteners and a deck screw required over 1000 Lbs of force to remove it. I've checked all of this companies Ads and their website and have found no specs related to this. It appears their main talking point is the screws can be adjusted and/or un-screwed after they are driven in. I have also found no consumer reviews on their product, which I found rather strange. I would love to use them in my nailer, but at $200+ per 1,000, I need some unbiased information on them before taking the plunge.
Great Video. Thank You.
Scrails ROCK!!!
I used to hammer (yes, claw hammer) screws into pine framing...split a few in the process, but worth it since i could easily disassemble them afterwards.
That was awesome Izzy ! Would it would for sheathing onto framing?
Totally awesome.
That is AWESOME!
Izzy, you are a NUT! Never change! 💕
That's insane! I've never seen those!
Great find.
How well do they hold??? That is the question. Do they just spin with impact or do they bite?
I wonder if the material under the hardwoods were also the hardwood it it would have worked as well? The 2x material took the bulk of the screw and it is the soft wood. Curious....
Good question
Good point. But still, I’m super impressed with these.
I imagine it would bog it down
This is the reply of an engineer. No insult intended - always question! you learn more that way.
Amazing! I wonder how much the screws rotate when they go in...
Dude that is the craziest thing I've ever heard or seen! Awesome!!
Keep the great videos coming!
Thanks for sharing and God bless
I agree. Awesome
That's hilarious. I love it. I'll have to get me a box
this is so not what i expected but i'm pleasantly surprised. Had no idea this was a real thing that existed!!
I worked with a guy in the early 80's who always said that the heads on screws were for taking them out. My first project with him involved setting a door and he used a hammer to put in the screws on the hinges.
lmao
That's badass. Hope it works in my Senco!
Fantastic!
I'm in my 60's and I don't think that out of 7-Billion other maniacs, that I will ever find anyone whose medication dosage can travel to where you brew these ideas.Never stop thinking outside the gallactical box buddy!
Optimist= Glass half full
Pessimist= Glass half empty
Mr. Swan= Glass is twice the size that it needs to be!
Izzy Swan = Why not put other things in the glass, too!?
Engineer - what glass?
@@perrymurphy4100 Obviously, you're not an engineer and don't know engineers. An engineer would say, "You have the wrong size container." You fix the problem correctly...
How dose it work ( for lack of a better word ) the in end grain of plywood
How well do they work for framing? I have a shed to build this spring these wood be awesome for.
Izzy wow that is awesome. How do they hold VS nails
I'm surprised this hasn't gone viral yet.
These has been out for over 15 years
When I worked in factory furniture manufacturing we ran into a shipment of poplar that was so hard if you tried to shoot two pieces together with a framing stapler it would fail to drive them all the way and just fold them up against the wood after driving them in about 1/4 inch.
It did it with multiple guns on multiple lines and shifts.
If I remember correctly we had to use that wood elsewhere in the plant or just sell off the rest because it was just to damn hard to use at speed.
What psi are you set to? Have and splitting issues or problems into end grain?
I want to know how the tensile strength of the joint compared between the air nailed screws, the conventional screws and barbed nails.
How suitable wood these be for flooring and sub floors? Would they prevent squeaking like standard screws, or at least minimise it?
I have used it here in Sweden for a deck, I believe it was a Paslode with gas. I'm just curious how it will last compared to normal screws.
Is it possible to buy these in Australia? It doesnt look like it but I would love to have a go!
thanks it is educational, what about the quality ?
Izzy will a cordless Milwaukee framing gun 21 degree shoot scrails? Preferably 2-1/2" x .113 Coarse Thread TX15 FasCoat
Izzy swan. Unavailable at this moment. These would work better than the screw in guns for subfloor. Would you suggest them for that?
Heh, I'm doing production work picture frames right now. Lots of mortise and tenons because I refuse to cut a mitre joint and have it fail ^^
THAT IS COOL!
Just checked the Amazon link and it says they are out of stock and don't know when or if they will be back in stock.
Can nail guns be converted to different degrees? Like 31° to a 22°
Nice Izzy
Wonder if they would work in my bostitch f28ww framing gun.
Izzy Is it possible the screws enter in the wood by high speed turning?
I tried out a pneumatic that spun in drywall screws at the Max booth at the International Builders show in the mid 90's. AFAIK it never came to market.
NEAT!!! Thanks
Can the screws you took out of the wood be put back in the plastic strip and be used again out of the gun?
With a metal connector precise nailer, this would be awesome for door hinges.
