Elizabeth John I think it’s loosely based off the last kingdom books and there is 17 of them, it’s like 2 seasons per book. I don’t think he dies in the books because there wouldn’t be no books nor show without him.

Finan is everything. The funniest part of season 4 was his reaction to when they found the people dying from the sickness on the road. He was ready to abandon everybody. He had me crying laughing when he was pouring water over Stiorra's hands and side eyeing every time the little girl coughed.

Skye H honestly, that’s the reason why I love this show so much and why I love Uhtred. He doesn’t judge people for what they choose to believe or how they choose to live. He respected Alfred even through all his faults and (I think) loved him like a brother. Beocca was a surrogate father to him. His men are his brothers no matter where their beliefs lie. This is the type of loyalty that this world needs more of.
They always talk about actors' chemistry when they are playing love interests but the chemistry between Alex and Mark in The Last Kingdom was simply stellar! Such a joy for male friendship to be portrayed as brilliantly as it was in this show!!

I don't think Utred meant it that way. More like lost everyone from his whole life, since he was a child, the people who raised him or grew up with him.
He also lost his best friend on the slave ship where he met Finan. We can't forget Halig. They were brothers. He chose to go with Uthred to be a slave because he wouldn't abandon Uthred and he died tied to the front of that slave ship. Don't get me wrong I love Finan, but Halig was just as loyal and true, and Uthred mourned his loss

I thought that same thing repeatedly this season. Everyone wondered what happened to Uthred's kid, but I screamed at the TV what about Sitric"s wife. He was away for so long and never even said a word about her but they did in the last two seasons

It broke me when he hugged Uhtred. Uhtred is always there for him men, to lift them up, and keep them standing. In that one moment he needed his men to be there for him, and Finan, his loyal second in command, needed to be the one to answer that call. He rose to the moment perfectly.
Most of my friends who watch LK like the brotherly relationship between Uthred and Ragnar, but I like the brotherly friendship between Uthred and Finan. Love Finan, a true friend, and he has been with Uthred through thick and thin. I will be very sad if he later dies, I really hope not. His encouraging words to Uthred when he lost Father Beocca, just so heart warming to hear 😉
I am really scared when the moment comes and the writers decide to kill Finan and Sctric. Maybe Uhtred would die as well but that would be in the last episode of the last season. Also I would feel bad for baby monk if anything should ever happen to him.

Thank you for making this ! I only started watching this series a month ago, and now have watched all the episodes and went on to read book 9-12. Uhtred is a great warrior. But what really keeps him going and help him out of a lot of trouble are the loyal men/friends around him...and Finan is number one on that list. This becomes even more apparent in the later books. As Uhtred gets older, it is his Finan and his other loyal men that gets him out of a lot of impossible situations. Anyhow, thank you again for making this wonderful video and tribute to their friendship!

Uhtred is a mighty warrior but he is the oldest of the group and yeah in the books Uhtred is the first to loose his prime but he's still well impressive he's still first and up front in the battle when he's well into his 60s when he's old and grey.

I have been watching The Last Kingdom and I love it. Finan is one of my favorite characters. He was very good for Uhtred after Father Beocca was killed. One of my favorite moments was when Uhtered buried the cross that Hild had given him a few episodes earlier to have melted down and used as material for bribes but never got to use it and Finan came up to check on Uhtred and told him that Father Beocca was at peace and then hugged Uhtred and let him cry on his shoulder when he broke down and cried.
They became brothers for ever beginning in slavery and I hope they will finish together, if season 5 comes out I can only pray they stay together till the end. 😣
