@@theBFactor Not true. An app on your phone can't measure the peek recording as it doesn't sample at a significant rate to measure the loudest part. It might measure at half way to the peak noise on one shot and 3/4 of the way on another.
Those db counters that rely on cell phone mics are notoriously inaccurate… I’d recommend getting a proprietary db meter w its own mic… if you really want to kniw
Howdy! Buy a legit decibel meter not an app in iphone, unsuppressed 556 should be something about 160 dB - 170 dB, suyppressed 130 - 140 dB, suppressed 22lr should be something about 113 - 119 dB.

I have a Porq Chop on order, and it’s in paperwork jail. I’m hoping to have it by October.
8.6 black out is a necked up 6.5 Creedmoor to fit the .338 bullet. Not sure if its a .338 Lupua or Norma. Its on my list of guns to get. Love the Sigs in the video. I have a similar spear but in 6.5 Creedmoor and 300 blackout MCX Tacops. Both really fun guns.
I’ve been looking at these 22 air rifles. They’re very cool! Was your pressure high enough to break sound barrier? Or was this set up for sub? I dont think I heard a subsonic crack, but mics can be funny. As for using your phone’s mic as a decibel reader, your numbers give a fair enough comparison between guns as long as it was positioned same distance every time, but your numbers overall are very low. Next time you should try a ballistic grade decibel reader and see your numbers all go up 20-30 decibels. I’m sure the sound dampening in your range bring them down some, but if you have mic near muzzle, that 300 blackout, for instance, I believe should still be in the 130-140s, and that should have been quieter than all of the SuperSonic rounds you shot.

To me I have heard alot of different suppressors, that cost alot,few years ago seen one homemade on 556an there was nothing except sound like a little air!? Explain so to me they are not all the same period, makes a difference to each one individual on the same firearm, that is a test needs be done,p.s. Big fan 😊
300 BO needs to be 200gr up for subsonic. 8.6 BO is 286gr and up. I think the 8.6 round is a 338 bullet in a .308 casing and the 300 round is a 7.62 bullet in a 5.56 casing....I think.
You're comparing a bolt gun to semi-autos. The bolt gun most always will be quieter than the semi-autos as the action noise may be recorded by the meter also (especially the standard AR recoil spring). Saying that and the other criticisms noted it was still enjoyable to watch as everything was fired under the exact same environmental conditions.
I appreciate your attempt, but an app on a phone just isn't accurate when it comes to decibel readings. The mics on phones aren't designed to pick up the type of noise that guns produce. They get overwhelmed and don't give correct readings.

Matt, I’m going to do my best to explain in the context of this video why so many people who want to love you are irritated by you. It all comes down to respect. 1) Captions with random words in them (instead of objectively accurate descriptions) make the videos look like they were edited by an AI instead of a person who knows at least as much about the subject matter as the average subscriber. 2) Statements that bely a basic understanding of how guns work are insulting to the audience. The idea that an intentionally subsonic round would have equivalent muzzle velocity to an intentionally supersonic round isn’t an oopsie. It’s one of hundreds of data points from this channel which tell your subscribers that you don’t actually care about the topic about which they’re passionate. Similar is lack of note of port pop or the nature of the rounds being shot (supers or subs). 3) The idea that you could get away with a video whose entire concept is sound measurement, by purchasing a ten dollar app. This is wrong on so many levels. It’s disrespectful to your followers who know the data is crap. It’s disrespectful to the other RUclipsrs with less money who still put the few hundred bucks towards a proper meter even when sound measurement is only a small component of a video. The end result is a video which is more infuriating than entertaining. I know I’m under no obligation to watch. I’m trying to help.

As everyone has said, those readings aren’t close. That first SBR is likely closer to 180 decibels.
While the metter was not certified accurate, it is exactly the way all of us would measure it, and it did show everyone that each round got quiet

Suppressed bolt guns are much quieter than suppressed, semi autos.
Phone sound meter is useless. Even cheaper sound meters can't accurately measure high levels of db's.

You're shooting semi auto, so the DBI reading is coming from the ejection port not the business end.
Why put music behind the shots, I think it would have been better for the audience to hear the actual shots.
