Good Day Dean and Shalane, I have enjoyed this video. How special that you were given a guided tour. I found it extremely interesting. I love hearing from someone (Becky) who knows of details about certain quilts history and expresses their excitement while speaking.. so nice! Thank You for Sharing. 🥰❤️🥰 Chris-Raleigh NC
Soon to be showcased at the National Quilt Museum...Travel Montage Memories Quilt by the duo, GrassRoots Living!! One never knows! I really appreciate the antique quilts the most...and that photo turned quilt...WOW! Love one of my past Darryl and now Otis! What a great place! Very much appreciated! Take good care now and have yourselves a wonderful weekend! Bruce and Otis
LOL 'Soon to be at the National Quilt Museum....GrassRoots Living'. However, like you said, 'one never knows'. (Although I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it to happen) ;) Thanks and you have a blessed week!
Fabulous. Thanks for this touching and beautiful experience. Start quilting. Smaller is good for small spaces. Do it and don't be afraid. I taught quilting to 4th - 8th grade kids. I know you can do it.
Hi guys! When you see something beautiful, then you try to take it inward. Even though this is not my thing, I'm just completely breathless out of all the creativity and beauty.
Wow, I have always had a fascination with quilts. I had no idea there was a museum. Thanks so much for sharing! I will be on the lookout for one on our travels 🤗 PS… it was so great meeting you guys! 🤗🤗🤗 (Cindy)
You would love this museum if you love quilts. :) It was great meeting you as well. Hope to meetup again with you on the road. It would be great to talk one on one. :)
The quilts are so beautiful and amazing. Please don’t get overwhelmed by them, I’ve been quilting 20 years and just do pieced quilts and that makes me happy it all depends on your talent, some people just have a gift.
My sister and I love to look at the quilts that are so artistic, but we make simpler ones that you can wrap up in, stay warm, and form memories with. We all have our own journey! If you want to see antique quilts go to the quilt museum the next time you are in Lincoln Nebraska, it has 13 quilts from my former piano teachers husband, as well as one my Mom helped make.
I was so touched by the 9-11 quilts. That was an amazing thing those ladies did to remember all who died that day. I will never forget it. I am also amazed at all the beautiful quilts on display there. Talented people for sure. I really enjoyed tagging along with you. Thanks!💚💚💚💚
I have REALLY wanted to visit this museum for a long time! I was enthralled! Thank you SO MUCH for bringing it to me! I was so emotionally affected by several that they left an imprint on me. A trip to Paducah KY is moving UP on my list!! You are so blessed to be able to travel to the places you go, and you bless us by sharing it! ☺️❤️☺️❤️☺️❤️
Oh it is hard to not touch. I'm headed to the Houston International Quilt Festival and you have me geared up to see a bunch of great quilts! And oh the shopping..... I know it won't be as big this year, but still it will be fabulous! Guess I will have to run over to the Texas Quilt Museum in LaGrange to get a fix before heading to Houston....lol. Thanks for taking us along.
It is so hard not to touch. ;) I didn't know there was a quilt museum in LaGrange. The next time we are in that part of TX, we will have to check it out. :)
Fantastic! Was able to go there this summer on my big road trip. It was early July so some different quilts were on display. The 9/11 quilts weren’t there yet which is probably good for me because I would have been too emotional. That flag quilt captivated me the same as it did you. Amazing. I spent an easy 10 minutes just examining it closely & then moving away, then back close again. You have to do that with so many of them. The detail in those quilts is so amazing. The urge to touch & feel was almost overwhelming sometimes. With some of them I was looking so closely at the details that I felt like my nose was in the way. I like to hand quilt sometimes but I could never do the fine detail work those artists do. I also thought the Lemur quilt was painted at first. And those Baltimore Album quilts were incredible! I spent over 2 hours in there & could have stayed longer. I am drawn more to the vintage quilts like they have at the Missouri museum but the sheer artistry and the heart & soul that goes into those modern artwork quilts is inspiring.
I don't think that we could have said it any better ourselves. :) We spent over 2 hours in there but we could have stayed longer. It was just amazing! Thanks for commenting again. We love to hear from you. :)
thanks for this video. We were there at the end of May. Becky gave me a tour as well and I did a video but mine won't be up probably the end of the year. She showed me other quilts that what you saw. they are all beautiful.
Simply amazing quilts. Thank you for sharing. The 911 touch a place in my heart that will always remember the tragedy- yet the sense of togetherness from that day.
Beautiful quilts! Wow I would be in overload at all of those amazing quilts! So much heart and soul goes into making a quilt. I just wanted to touch them all and run my fingers along the fabric and seams to try to put myself in the heart of the quilter. Thanks for sharing!
Amazing talent! I’ve got a long way to go and so much to learn! Love the 9/11 quilts. Love the pleated quilts. I know Yukon Hamada from when we went to the Tokyo quilt show. Ok even if you don’t want to do it yeah I’m gonna be behind the camera oh yeah norito has the most beautiful Quilt and Waggs East Class Barbi Largest Fresno Bandit Bar I don’t have that kind of talent like that. I hope we get to visit this place one day.
I bet as a non quilter this was so over your head...I know it would be even for me as a quilter...someday I hope you try a simple quilt. Yes you still can in a trailer! Its therapy at its best...becareful tho its habit forming lol. Plus if you stay around Jenny it sure will rub off on you...what a great teacher she is!!
Just thought I’d let you know that I’ve been quilting for over 10 years and my seams are hardly ever 1/4”. It doesn’t have to be, you just need to be consistent. Get close and find a spot on your sewing foot that you can easily line up for your seam (close to 1/4”) and just be consistent. Jenny Doan does this too. I never stress over it. I’ve found it’s very forgiving.
Harvest host is an organization that hooks rv travelers with places to stay other than rv parks. Museums, farms & ranches, other places. Membership fee is reasonable. Short stay only, overnight or maybe 2 nights. Just room for a few rigs at a time, no hookups, but you stay for free. You are expected to purchase something from the gift shop or some fresh produce, whatever, as a means of thanking your host. I would have done that a lot this past summer but needed electric to run the a/c in my trailer. Heard about them from my sister in law. They have a Class A motorhome so have a generator. I just have a 20 foot travel trailer so no generator & it was too hot to not have cooling at night.
Another place for the bucket list. Thank you!!
Our pleasure! It is worthy of a bucket list. :)
The museum was wonderful. Thank you for taking us through it with you. The flag was exquisite! The artistry and talent is extraordinary.
