The prices for toys will go up under new tariffs. There is no scenario where tariffs drive prices for the toys we enjoy down. If demand decreases because of price increases, that means that many third party toy companies will cease operations because they wont be able to survive. We've already been seeing a reduction in the number of third party toy companies over the last few years as demand for toys has weakened. This will just accelerate that process. Even domestic companies like Hasbro may reduce their toy production in the face of tariffs. They've already tried a bunch of schemes to keep prices down like reducing the thickness of the cardboard in their packaging, removing plastic windows, waffling the crap out of toys to reduce weight and materials, etc. Toy demand is decreasing industry wide and Hasbro is already pivoting to be a games and media company according to their CEO. If prices see a sharp increase because materials costs go up Hasbro will likely cut back on the franchises they make toys for, which could include Transformers since Transformers as a dranchise has been in decline for almost a decade now with movies failing to hit targets, weak toys sales, poorly received shows, etc. Blanket tariffs are bad news no matter how you spin them. TARGETED tariffs that hit one or two product categories can be an effective trade tool, but the kind of indiscriminate tariffs Trump is enacting will just drive up prices, causes shortages and overall damage the U.S. economy.

Tell me you have no idea about the subject of this video in 17 minutes or less. Less than 30 seconds, congrats. "Tariff's imposed on China, Canada and Mexico". Then you follow it up with an obviously unresearched but probably quoted from Fox or Newsmax statement. The tariff's are not imposed on the countries, they are imposed on the goods Americans buy and import from those countries. It's collected when those goods arrive in America and is paid for by the Americans importing those goods. None of those funds come from China, Canada or Mexico. The hope/idea is that it will drive people to buy locally and avoid the increased cost for buying imported goods, This is supposed to cause problems for the exporting country since the importing country will not be buying as much of the product. This only works when strategically targeted, and even then it's limited in a global economy where its easy to find alternate buyers. I would also like to mention that your 'proof' examples are not proof of anything. You bought nothing so you only have a estimate which is not a receipt. Final costs on eBay don't happen until actual checkout, and extra costs can occur outside of the transaction if other retailers don't charge them. Long ago I bought a product from USA shipped to Canada. They shipped via FedEx and charged no tax or duty. When it arrived at my door there was a charge from FedEx for a extra $100 in border fees, the product cost less than the fees! As for 'Deflation', what world are you living in??? Never have I seen a company incur a additional cost and then NOT pass that cost on to the consumer. You mention Hasbro laying off workers....did toy prices go down? Pretty sure they still went up. I still remember when Marvel Legends were 25Cad or less. Just last year they were starting at 35Cad. and now they mostly start at 36Cad. That is truth, that is proof

TARGETED tariffs that hit one or two product categories can be an effective trade tool, but the kind of indiscriminate tariffs Trump is enacting will just drive up prices, causes shortages and overall damage the U.S. economy.
Informative and great video
Don't forget about the self deportations.
And now back to toy news😅
Yep back to the toys
Lead by example...... make maga hats in usa ...... not china. Then maybe other will follow. But you red hats first.
I do not have one so I can not look at the tag to see where they are manufactured
Mike, I was just about to ask you about your opinion on the impact tariffs will have on toys.
Almost every video has a request for me to discuss this and although not a fun topic an inportant one
They will go to china not US 😂😂😂
I showed the ways to mitigate
you need to talk better. You stumble a lot. It's kind of painful to listen to you the way you talk. Write a script or use an AI voice.
What you are saying is a real thing. Great topic.
All facts and math but many will get mad at me for laying out the facts
@@tydiriumhanger1320 this is true.
MAGA
The math is there for you
Well, since Canada leads the US in things like education, quality of life and life expectancy, if you want to MAGA, you’re welcome to become the 11th province and adopt our policies!
regardless of where you stand on the issue or what the facts are- somebody on tfw said this in a thread and it's true- if you're a toy collector and these price increases are more than you can afford, you're probably in the wrong hobby. If you're a FT collector at this point, it's already too late for you, why bother losing sleep over another few dollars?
That is also a good way to look at it
Tell me you have no idea about the subject of this video in 17 minutes or less. That is truth, that is proof
ok commie
Oh and all you blue color workers that collect toys, basically all of them he is calling for union workers to lose their job. Those guy making 30 an hour and 9 in benefits get the gas to your house, the water you drink, the food you eat. So dumb
I find it alarming that we lost 10% of union jobs over the past year. I have no control or influence over the situation just showing the numbers
@ don’t run away of what you said you basically said the guys you make $30 an hour or minimum wage workers so you obviously have a ex against unions. I’m not in the union, but I know it pretty much is the backbone of our infrastructure. But thankfully, you’ll be OK and you’ll be able to continue to buy three of every toy.
Interesting, but at least you did mention toys at some point
Hope to mention lower prices on toys one day
@tydiriumhanger1320 oh, man me too. I enjoyed your video, very educational and thought provoking
Thank you for explaining 🇺🇸 🤝
Happy to clarify some stuff
