  • Well.....I've been at it again and buying crap lol! I had been watching these saws on FB marketplace for a while and finally decided to make an offer on them! I'm glad I got them and I'm looking forward to getting into these in the future and seeing if I can get them running. For now I'm on the hunt for info and parts for at least one of them! Thanks for watching! Like and subscribe, drop a comment, ask a question! Stay safe.

Nice! I haven't seen the copper oil lines before! You would be a beast to carry either one of those all day! 💪

That says 1/2 pint per gallon, not 2 pints.
The recoil is just a piece of rope with a knot in one end and a wooden handle on the other end. You put the knot on the outside of the pulley and run the rope through a slot in the pulley, and wrap the rope around so it holds the rope in the slot. Always hold the rope tight, or it will just pull off the pulley without turning the engine over. Once you get it figured out, it works pretty well. It's much cooler than a recoil on those old saws.
Thanks for the videos, and God bless you!

No recoil needed, just a rope. Own a old Lawnboy with that same setup, and used a old Bolens Tractor from the 50's that needed a rope pull too. Just make a knot on the end, and a wooden handle for the other end. You will figure out how short really quickly, as I did with the Lawnboy. Cool Find My Friend

Thank you for the tip and thanks for checking out my video!! have seen this done and I will be doing it to try to get it fired for sure, but I'll still be on the hunt for that recoil lol. The rope trick that you are referring to......the entire rope comes off after you pull correct? Like its wrapped around, kind of catching on that knot, you pull and it all comes off while turning over the flywheel?

Many old engines from the early 60's and older come with just a rope. They always spin clockwise too. The old Lawnboy mower I have is a perfect example, no recoil on the cooling fan...lol. Even my old Wisconsin 10hp has a rope pull backup, and even my Evenrude outboard motor. I bet it never had a recoil system, as the rope pull pulley is large, where a backup setup is very skinny and hardly usable. I can't blame you if you convert it, but rope pull isn't so bad if you have a place for the rope after its started.

@@SuperMag357 Very interesting and excellent info here! I had no idea that was the case about older engines. It'll be good to know how to use a backup at least as well. I'll go with the rope pull for now and if a recoil that fits comes up at a reasonable price I'll snatch it lol.

@@SuperMag357 I'll be making more videos about these in the future also! If you're interested in that hit that subscribe button! lol. Also I'll go ahead and do a how to start an old motor with a rope video and it'll be a "tip from the viewers" clip. I've got a few of those I'm going to do at some point. Thanks again!
