The US car-bike called the PEBL shut down its plant and outsourced to Germany. Organic Transit has a new owner named Sun Micromobility. Stay tuned for new versions.
@@prudencejuris4608 Incorrect, in my experience. I got rid of my car 6 years ago and rely on the ELF for all transportation. Free power from the sun is hard to beat. It has saved me $18,000 so far and the fun, safe way to exercise is great. If you stop the car habit these are a very wise purchase that ends your relentless annual money pit of car ownership. 1000 ELFs were sold and the owners are active in three Facebook groups. That's how I learned about the new owner for OT. The PEBL sold about 200 vehicles before the pandemic made things too hard for that family business. Their design was too heavy at 230 pounds so the Germans should be able to fix that.
@@popeyegordon Plus several thousand dollars to purchase in the first place these toys are only for the very rich they are *way over priced* to start with put 1000 watt motor in them might be worth 250 limit in the EU is absurd
@@prudencejuris4608 Again you ignore the reason for and value of car replacements. There is no "plus several thousand dollars". There is *ONLY* the up front buy-in price to a decade of no car expenses and healthy exercise at your desired pace, and nothing else but bicycle maintenance costs, trivial compared to the $3 to 7K annual costs of car ownership and the lack of exercise car drivers experience. I agree the EU power limit is absurd so we agree on that point but in the US the very similar design which sold 1200 units before the pandemic has the legal limit of 750 watts and has been used to complete two 4000 mile journeys and one 43,000 mile journey that only ended because of a fire. These journeys are documented on the internet with books, movies and videos. The materials alone cost the factory over $3000 USD and there is labor, facility expenses and the right to a reasonable profit like any other bike builder deserves. Plus you are unaware that bullet shaped velomobiles with no solar or e-motor still sell for $7 to $10K USD and they are uncomfortable with very limited cargo space.

Like all of these HPV never get off the drawing board and when they do are too expensive to be effective
