Kobe is a 4-time champions, 1-time MVP and 1-time Finals MVP with many more records and accolades. He'll be remember for much more than his 81-point game.
@0:07 You can see a slight difference between student and teacher. The teacher knees are going away from his defender pushing in the direction of the fade. The studen'ts knees are straight, so when he jumps he will go straight up while the teacher will fall away as he jumps
actually there was one game where mj did a turn around 3 carrying him out of bounds (it was at the buzzer) it went in but time had already expired. MJ has the range he's just athletic and smart enough to not jack up fade away 3's
Jordan fans are just sacred when someone threats to be better then Jordan but they should rejoicing seeings people striving and training to become better then Jordan. Thats what we are seeing with todays basketball generation never say. that no one will ever be better then Jordan because someone will be on day.
for the record, mj had 10 scoring titles...still, the stats don't lie but you also have to keep into consideration the different styles played. michael was the Bulls only star and zone defenses were illegal...im not saying that kobe could've done anything like mj did back in the day but could you imagine michael playin next to shaq in his prime...think about it
i would rather be handchecked than double and trippled team every night. Jordan got most of his points off of isolation. The zone was basically non existent in his era.
Zones were non existent in MJ's era? Oh really? ""[Zones] were also used [frequently] before they were [legalized] as well. One example, the 80s Celtics were known [users] of it & always got away with it. These are the same Celtics Jordan destroyed from an individual standpoint." -- NY Times, Feb 29, 2009 "Last season, Jordan had to [overcome] the harassment of [zone traps] and [double & triple teaming] to win the scoring title by averaging 37.1 points a game" -- NY Times, Nov 4, 1987
Wow i cant believe u guys r pointing at the littlest differences and arguing over who is beter... Kobe's idol is MJ, hes following his footsteps and hoping to be a bigger legend, y do u ppl gota hate on him..?
so who cares thats a duplicate, can anyone else able to do what Jordan has done? Its not easy to duplicate those moves or in fact, master it. Its a great move by the way.
akajackbauer, there is no denying what your saying. i mean, MJs stats and accolades speak for itself, but i just dont understand why NBA fans today dont realize that. its unfortunate that there are kobe haters because he's the best player TODAY, but there are jordan haters with todays young fans, so it goes both ways. todays fans just never witnessed all the Bulls' MJ games. as for this clip, atleast MJ played better D.
No, you don't need air to fade away, but getting height and distance on the jump helps to clear a defender that might have read your move properly and is challenging the shot. The fact that a 40 year old Jordan gets as high and has as much hangtime on his fade as a 24 year old Kobe is amusing.
uhm it might as well be! name someone before him that has consistently used it in their bag of tricks. The fade away is such a advance move that most NBA players don't use it cause they haven't mastered it. Face it Jordan patented this move and no one can do it better. This vid shows Jordan at his age elevating and distancing almost the same of a young Kobe. Theres a glimpse of Michael in Kobe but only at the latter stages of MJ's career still good though
the difference is that kobe didn't even try and contest jordan's shot cause jordan knows how to feel the defense with his feet. He basically locked kobe down when he posted him up. Atleast bill russell was able to contest the shot. amusing ain't it
We have to be realistic, the idol of Kobe is michael, he was the child that goes to the playground after bulls game and try to copy all the moves of michael, then when he release that can play in the nba and be compare with the grestest....Now he dont want to admit that michael is his idol because the EGO.
"MJ's vertical leap was measured at 38" coming into the NBA draft" vertcoach . com/highest-vertical-leap . html Go see what MJ's vertical is listed at. It's NOT 38"..you're about 10 inches too LOW..
I don't think kobe will only be remembered for 81 points, but i think that made him overrated... also, no great player ever tries to completely emulate another player
The height on the fade-away stuff is kind of a stupid thing to point out...effective is effective...why jump any higher than you have to? Do you honestly think MJ was as athletic at 40 as Kobe was at 24...of course you don't, so what exactly was the point?
it's amazing how many excuses there are for why Kobe does bad in games. Did you know MJ actually played consistently well in any game? Look up the flu game in the NBA FINALS vs the Jazz. Wade is actually pretty good
That my friend is a false theory. Mj has unlimited game. It wouldn't be a good matchup let me tell u why. Mj has watched the old school players. Kobe hasn't watched all of them I can guarentee. If kobe copies jordan, jordan will still have the advantage b/c jordan knows his moves well and moves of other old school players. Plus Kobe can't possible win 6 championships. THat ain't gon happen!!!
@tmz888 they're uncomparable right now, as mj's career is over, and kobe is still young, but ROFL, watch the space jam movie? your ridiculous, if you didn't have wikipedia you would know NOTHING about basketball, lmao space jam is where you get your info from?
Blah blah blah... this proves that Kobe Bryant is tryin to copy MJ. He's jus doin a betta job of it. To prove it, wait.. this is proof. And ask Kobe who's his #1 favorite player. (i bet u its MJ and if he doesn't say that he's lyin)
RIP kobe, we love and miss you 💛💜

kobe is already the top 14 players to ever live sonny.. and you're telling me he will only be remembered for his 81..
People really don't know hard this shot is to imitate, let alone make it a regular part of their game. Insane amounts of skill by both.
actually there was one game where mj did a turn around 3 carrying him out of bounds (it was at the buzzer) it went in but time had already expired. MJ has the range he's just athletic and smart enough to not jack up fade away 3's
I didn't notice this the first time I watched. Look at Kobe back away when Jordan turns around.
He's like "I already know." LMAO
Kobe = MJ!!
Mike, Magic, Kobe, Bird, Russell, Kareem, Wilt, Dr. J, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor = Greatest Players of all time.
say wat u want but dee down u kno da truth
Jordan fans are just sacred when someone threats to be better then Jordan but they should rejoicing seeings people striving and training to become better then Jordan.

you do not need air to fade away.. lol
If you took out the two years Kobe didn't start and didn't play much at all, their stats become very similar in all categories except for FG%.
jordan da giovane era più esplosivo nei movimenti di kobe, anche se a guardare velocemente può sembrare uguale
i meant brian russell
i would rather be handchecked than double and trippled team every night. Jordan got most of his points off of isolation. The zone was basically non existent in his era.
gilly arenas dropped that 60 on #24 head
Zones were non existent in MJ's era? Oh really?

Just because someone is your idol doesn't mean you have to learn your game from them. What if your idol is a center yet you're a guard?

He was all over him.
He was actually fouling MJ, had pretty good position, MJ just had better pivot and separation.
lol.. you're right
Mj's separation >>> Kobe's and its clear by this vid. Even at an old age, he could create that separation. At least in this clip its the case.
sono assolutamente imparagonabili... W Michael Jordan e basta
the difference is that kobe didn't even try and contest jordan's shot cause jordan knows how to feel the defense with his feet. He basically locked kobe down when he posted him up. Atleast bill russell was able to contest the shot. amusing ain't it
MJ's was over Kobe, Kobe's was not over MJ...
wtf wow.

Bill Russell, he?
when people think of the g.o.a.t they think of michael jordan....
when people go for a shot they think kobe no one thinks mj !
they dont look equal defending and this is old mike! where was kobe on defense

lol Jordan at age 40 gets as much air on his fade as Kobe at 24.
it's amazing how many excuses there are for why Kobe does bad in games. Did you know MJ actually played consistently well in any game? Look up the flu game in the NBA FINALS vs the Jazz. Wade is actually pretty good
kobe should get his own game and quit copying mj
That my friend is a false theory. Mj has unlimited game. It wouldn't be a good matchup let me tell u why. Mj has watched the old school players. Kobe hasn't watched all of them I can guarentee. i personally think kobe is better because i think mj was the most over rated athlete(notice i mean from all sports) ever
You do realized MJ had bad games too right? Going 7-25, 9-31, etc. MJ is the GOAT, but he wasn't Perfect.
WTF??? ROFLMAO!!!
mj fading away against kobe......kobe fading away against some nobody.
