Dbz was the first tcg I played competitively I was a kid then, so I remember asking my mom to drop me off there. I was blown away that the people who played would buy entire boxes of packs all at once lol. My collection was just begging my mom for a single pack or deck whenever we checked out at target or Walmart Those early days of the game were so crazy. Saiyan saga cards were either bonkers good or completely useless. This was around the time that new episodes of the series were finally coming stateside, so we were excited to get our hands in anything and everything With some practice I finally won a tournament and still have that tshirt Great memories
I used to play competitively. First time I played I didn't know what I was doing, maybe 11 or 12, and half way throughh second game the guy running the tournament was like "did you just play two different dragon balls?" To which I said yeah, can you not do that? And he was very chill about it. Loved these cards
oh man i have a ton of nostalgia for this card game! fellow kiwi here so i didn't really get to play in any major events or anything, but distinctly remember picking up cards and trading them in intermediate xD wish i could find where i put them now D:
In 2000/2001 I traded three Magic cards for a level 4 Super Saiyan Goku first edition from the Frieza Saga. Always thought that card was fake as I never saw anything like it. It is real, and minty! My LGS never ran events for it. I probably played less than 10 games ever, and I totally scuffed on when to play non-combat cards. I always got destroyed by Namekian Toki-Wazu decks. I was a blue anger deck.
This was the only card game I played besides Yu-gi-oh. It was the first one. It was just as crazy as Yu-gi-oh ended up being upon release. Just a crazy wave here in the states. Love it! Which they would bring it back revamped.
As far as the rarities go, to clarify a bit more: 1-star was common, 3-star was uncommon, 5-star was rare, and 6-star was super rare. (Ultra rare?) 2-star denounced it was a "promo" card, they varried in availability by card, and weren't normal parts of sets, hence the set numbers starting with "P." I remember there were these "sensu bean" booster packs for $1 that only had 3 cards in them, and one card in every pack was a 2-star "King Cold's Sword Trick," iirc. 4-star meant a starter-deck exclusive card. And tbh, I didn't even know that 7-star cards existed, lol.
I've collected these since I was a kid! I just recently pulled mine out of an old shoe box that was completely filled. I even found some of the Showdown, Hero collection and other cards that came in the DBZ Gummy snacks from Sack N Save. I finally put most of them in binders for safer keeping. I never did get to play it with anyone, but I'm looking into it now!
I remember getting so many of these but my main issue is I lived in the middle of nowhere and my mom was one of those who didn't feel like driving into town.. like ever.. unless SHE had to. So I RARELY would get to play.
These cards were my life after pokemon cards. I stopped collecting pokemon to collect these when I was in 10th grade. We would play every morning before class in the school library. I just started playing this game on Gameboy Advance 2 days ago
Played this game when it came out in high school. Just me, and a couple of friends in California. Even after years of not playing it, it's still one of my favorite games ever. I stopped collecting after Buu Saga, as the best of the game seemed to have come, and gone. My two friends also had already moved on. I wish there was a stronger/bigger online community for it. I still have all my cards/decks. Might teach my son someday then I'll have another partner to play with lol.
Lovely video, it really took me back. I miss the old game and I miss the Panini version as well. Hopefully, they can try for a third time and maybe you'll be able to enjoy it if it ever comes around again.
Sheeesh ! LOVE IT ITs been a while i have seen recent video of this. AWESOME ! Also subbed. I showcase DBZ CCG from time to time aswell.. Awesome memories of the past
i remember getting them from deka and toy world back in the day. still have my cards but i was only around 10 when it was big but pretty much every kid in Taranaki was playing this until yugioh came out
amazing video! I still have my massive collection of 2000s DBZ cards from that time, such great memories, the dbz cards are Underatted as hell... people only talk about pokemon cards
Just moved and have been going through my old card collections and re-sleeving a few cards. Great memories of destroying friends with my Red Tokui-Waza deck. Had an orange anger sword from a tournament but threw it away after someone stepped on it and broke it. Should have kept it!
I played since saiyan saga but same situation where i was the only one in my area to play, I've sold off my collection (more forced by an ex) but kept my tournament deck and my Ultra rare limited freiza saga Super Saiyan Goku just because it was in iconic card.
I had friends and cousins that gave me their cards back in 2000 none of us ever tried to play it. But I've been collecting and building decks for almost 24 years now. Does anyone still play this game?

That's such an awesome memory! It's funny how broken the original Saiyan deck was haha!
@@unboxingthepast Dream Machine Battle will always be one of the most WTF cards in any game.

That is awesome, a really cool card too!
This game was amazing. Me and my friends had so many, even had all the wrapper redemption cards.

I played in the Georgia tournament and went 3-3 . I was sad because I thought Id do better with my Cell Namekian . This game was alot of fun.
Excellent vid!
Thanks dude! :D
Was thinking about this game recently! Played magic as a kid but had a collection of yajirobis lol just for fun

awesome t shirt man where did u get it man that,s cool dude
Just from ebay, I did have to search a while for it but they do pop up now and then :)
Awesome I need one so badly do they have others or any different ones

This game not being on a phone app like magic & pokemon tcg is criminal.
I mean it's a dead card game that died nearly 20 years ago
Not as big a crime as... Well you already know what I'm gonna say. But it was the only real way to play it on a screen...
There is a discord that people like myself currently play this game
I loved today's video I'm watching it from Brazil ❤
Where did you find that tablecloth/table cover? Was it an official Score Z licensed product?
Do you sell the score cards ??
I so prefer these over the new DBS cards I guess it's just because of nostalgia
Yeah I feel like the new ones just have way too much going on haha!
@@unboxingthepast yeah totally agree. Same with other card games
