Thanks Rob.......... tried to give the viewer an idea of what to expect if one would think of taking this hike. The majority of hikers go just to the 2nd lake and a some go to the 3rd lake and stop there and then go back down. But to get to see all 3 lakes at the same time you have to hike all the way up to the glacier. My son and I were alone up there and that is where you get the best views. Also it is amazing standing next to the glacier which all those hikers that day did not get to experience.
I hope that weather changes don't make this glacier disappear, it really is amazing standing next to it and you cannot appreciate the size of the ice unless you are right there. I am not trying to sell you a vacation Rob. :)
Glad you liked the video, to keep interest I recorded video when there were people around me on the trail so that might make it look busier. Start early and go all the way to the glacier, that is the only way you can see and photograph the 3 lakes. The glacier was the highlight for me, thousands of years old. We drank the melting glacier ice and it is good and refreshing. Have a great time when you go and send a post of your hike when you are done.
Hello Marie-Line, thank you for your question. Yes indeed bring your dog. There are basically 4 parts to the Joffre Lakes hike. 1st is from parking to the 1st lake. The 2nd part is going from 1st lake to the 2nd lake and the 3rd part is going from 2nd lake to the 3rd lake. The fourth part, which is a more challenging part, is going from the 3rd lake up to the glacier. Going from the parking lot to the 1st lake and from 1st lake to 2nd lake is no problem because the trail is managed (graded) and a very easy hike. But going from 2nd lake to 3rd lake the trail is "as is" and you are walking over existing land without any management. You are walking over rocks, tree roots etc etc, so more of a challenge but still can be done. From the 3rd lake up to the glacier it is a more challenging climb, a steep climb, and you may very well end up carrying your little dog, or maybe not. It is a very beautiful and rewarding hike and yes I can confidently say bring your dog with you, for sure to 1st and 2nd lake. If you watched all the video you will of noticed that I purposely used my camera very up close to the pet dogs that owners had brought with them on their hike and some of those dogs that you see in my video are actually little dogs. So once again Marie-Line I can honestly suggest to you to bring along your dog and enjoy a beautiful day ling hike. I hope my response helps you with your question. If you do go, I hope you do, please post back with your thoughts as I know they will be positive. Bye for now.................... Michael.
That is my fault, for interest sake I purposely recorded mostly when people were around me as we hiked up. I thought it would be boring just seeing the trail as we walked up. By the time we got down off the mountain and started our way down we were by ourselves as hikers had left the trail already.
These photos are so pretty
Great stills! What a memory you have captured!

It looks as though at one time the glazier extended right down to the lake below. Beautiful scenes!

Wow! I'm planning to go up there soon. Good to know that it's busy and not some backcountry hike.

Can it be an appropriate place to bring your little dog there ?

I guess you have travelled from "welding to wonder"...LOL...LOL
:) Time flies by Rob, get the adventures while you can. :)
The crowds ruined it somewhat, much nicer on the way back, serene!
