The only thing that I have against all these versions of April is in my mistress face, is that none of them pronounce July properly. It should be pronounced like Julie..
The fact that that's the word people always go to as the one to pronounce different is odd to me. This song is from the 1500s, if we're aiming for accuracy and authenticity, there's a lot that probably needs to change.
@@JubJubtheWonderHippo Quite possibly true -- but it's not about authenticity. Many words in the song may have changed from Morley's time, but "July" is the only one where the modern pronunciation conflicts with the original stress of the music. Pronouncing it "ju-LY" makes it sound like Morley messed up his setting of the words, since the strong beat is on the first syllable. Pronouncing it "JU-lie" reunites the stress of the word with the downbeat in the music. That's why people tend to object to the pronunciation of this word in particular (in my opinion).
The facts that this is so underrated, it's so beautiful ✨
Wir (meine Freundin und ich) haben Euch gestern Abend beim Young Euro Classic begeistert verfolgt. Es war großartig!
Very nice rendition, very beautiful voices.
