We've been renovating an abandoned farm and Stone House in Portugal for the past three years, and our third year here is the one when everything changed. We've made monumental alterations to our overgrown piece of land, and have big plans to build a new stone house on our farm later this year. I found you all over a year ago, while suffering and healing from a hip injury...life has changed over this year and it has been hard to adjust to...but watching this episode makes me cry...but happy tears for your family with all the dear experiences with your children and the challenges and overcoming and blessings that have come your way....watching the growth and evolution of your homestead has been a blessing to me...thank you for sharing your journey with us.

A wonderful year you have had with John’s mum coming and then Tara’s parents coming as well and the two most memorable episodes ever were the 300 year old Olive Tree being planted in your turning circle and the bees coming to your farm. Wow this episode has brought happy tears down my cheeks!! It is great to watch/share your dreams unfolding seeing the hard work you's have done to lay the foundations for your New home. I realised during this episode how much you's have helped me and how far I have come myself after breast cancer surgery August 23, while having my op the entire back of my own home was being knocked out having 5 RSJ'S to support the house as walls came down to extend for an open plan living, kitchen dining room. Discovering your TheNewbys Channel was a game changer for me it helped motivate/reassure me to get up and start doing the decorating and stuff during and after the building works finished, your lovely family/dog/parents and projects kept me occupied while recovering an waiting for radiotherapy. I so much enjoyed seeing your lovely boys involved /enjoying each project you's began I love the bee's and olive trees and wish you all well Portugal is a better country with you all living there!!

For me as a long time watcher of this Vlog the one thing it does for me is remind me of my dad, every time i see John with a hammer and nails in hand i am reminded of him. He was a Builder/Carpender/Handyman like John, and he spent his life in countryside in rural New South Wales in Australia. John reminds me so much of him..........

The transformation is absolutely gorgeous. Three wonderful, happy years combined with some sadness. Happiness when the bees a arrived and the sadness of the vineyard fires. Planting the more than amazing olive tree and the pool. Its fantastic how many hours you have spent on the farm working, designing and put things together. The result is amazing and there are more to come. The design you have done on the new house Tara is just beautiful. And what a blessing for the kiddos to explore and learn. You give me inspiration to do things at my little cottage 😍❤️

It’s hard to believe I’ve been watching this journey for three years. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching you transform this land into your home. I especially loved the episodes for the olive trees and when your family visits. And I love watching John’s projects and Tara in the vast garden. You are fortunate to have people like Mario and his awesome son as friends and in many ways your extended family. I look forward to the projects to come. Cheers!

I started watching you when you bought the farm. What a magical place. John your yard and flower gardens are amazing. Tara, love your garden of vegetables and you learning to preserve it, also great. And two of the most beautiful boys ever. (along with mine of course ). My three children are all grown and I have 5 granddaughters. No more babies for them. Your boys have so much fun and are learning so much. Just love watching your Chanel and all your adventures.

Many congratulations to you both I am stunned by how much you do and how far you have come in that time! Watching twice a week it hasn't really registered just how much you pack into an episode, I apologise. The crowning glory for me, is the wonderful old Olive tree looking as though it has always been there in pride of place. The garden developing, the chickens and Obi, the excitement of the Bee's and what can possibly fill the heart more to overflow than Crusoe and Sawyer together, Crusoe matching his pace on his bike to his little brothers sometimes stumbling gait or popping tomotos into Sawyers open mouth like a mother bird feeding her young? Always uplifting, always a delight. Thank you both so much.🌹

Amazing recap! It was fun to relive the excitement and challenge of it all with you. The farm looks incredible!! You all have done so much work!! The boys have grown so much! Mario is so incredibly good to Crusoe. I think Mario will always have a special place in Crusoe's heart and vise versa. 😊
