    Thank you so much! I made my granddaughter one last night and she wore it to school today.. she was so happy with it that I was trimming the fringe as she was walking out the door ! Shes 4 and I used Red heart with Love metallic with a 5 mm hook and ended up doing 12 rows . I will post my pics on your Raverlry page. I am making another one but going to use 4.25 hook to make the shells a little smaller..again thank you for sharing!

    Hi there - I have just made my first poncho and as I am in the UK I followed the toddler size using a size 5.5mm hook and Aran yarn . I found that 14 rows gave me 112 in length, but following your tutorial using the same size hook and the toddler size you stated that you did 18 rows/round which look a lot longer than 10". As this is my first one I am unsure how long I should make it

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  10 лет назад

    Omg thank you! I have been looking and looking and looking for a poncho/cape/cloak pattern I like for a cosplay and every other video I've watched is absurdly complicated, or lacking information, or the creators have accents that I can't understand so I'm completely lost. I stumbled upon this and boom! I'm in business. Not quite the stitch I was hoping for, but its worth it to finally have something that doesn't look like a pile of yarn barf. Do you think you could do another poncho in a tighter stitch?

  • @teresarace3851
    @teresarace3851 4 года назад

    First let me say thanks for the pattern. But I would suggest as with all granny squares, turn your work after each row. I did not and wished I had because of the curving point of the poncho.

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  4 года назад +1

      hello, the poncho does not have a curving or curling when I make them. may I suggest a looser tension. that can tend to make projects curl or curve. the granny stitch should lay completely flat when working in the round like this or with a granny square.

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  2 года назад +1

      hi Basabdutta Pal, the 72 chains should be enough for a 3-year-old. if you are worried about it not fitting, you can always go up a size. they grow so fast that they should grow into a larger one in no time. Happy Crochet! Here you can find the written pattern. www.crochetwithclare.com/granny-stitch-poncho.html

    Wondering if you could help I'm wanting to make a toddler poncho. I will be using 100 gram double knit baby yarn, and I was wondering what size hook would be best to use as well as would I need to chain more chains when starting to do the poncho.

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  9 лет назад

      You should use the hook that gives you the best tension with that yarn. Also I would suggest following the Child size pattern seeing as you are using a smaller weight yarn.

      TO make the project smaller you can use less chains
      You need to subtract 8 chains for the starting chain and for every 8 chains you will have 1 less group of 3dc's
      Hope this made sense

    I'm a little confused the pattern says 10 ply yarn I use red heart Super Saver worsted weight yarn so what yarn do I need to use the same for me if I'm using a smaller or bigger size

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  5 лет назад

      worsted weight and 10ply are the same thickness of the yarn. it is just called different things in different areas. the US calls it worsted or 4ply and the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as other European countries, call it 10ply. Yarn is just different in different parts. 4ply is more universally known as sock yarn

      bobwilson123 Hello ... Actually I don`t understand the meaning of DK , 8ply or 4 ply ...etc !! I usually hearing these idioms in the English videos but I don`t get what you means ! As I am from Egypt & we don`t have these definitions on the yarn label , we have the Turkish yarn is very common here but no definitions too except it is 100 or 50 gm & the recommended crochet or knitting needle size ! But now I made a search about these definitions & I think the yarn I have id DK :) So I should to follow the child size pattern . Thank you dear & sorry I wrote too much !!

    how come i followed your same instructions but my poncho does not fit through a 7 months old? i followed the toddler tutorial

    • @KnikittaRunes
      @KnikittaRunes 10 лет назад

      7 months is not a toddler... You need to make one much smaller for a 7month old.

    • @CrochetwithClare

      Hi The toddler video will fit about a 2 year old
      I would not recommend it for a baby because of choking with the tie up
      The toddler is the smallest pattern

      The Potsmith I meant to mean that i was making this for a toddler but it was too small to fit through a 7 months old head, what did i do wrong?

      Stella K. C ohhhhh that changes things :) Can I ask you what yarn you are using ? If you are using thinner yarn or a smaller hook of what I used in the video - your poncho will come out smaller
      I would suggest using the larger size video - child size - if you are using the thinner yarn s:)
      Hope this helps you, thank you for watching

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  9 лет назад

      +laura gankiwicz hi, you may be placing your first stitch in the wrong space, your clusters should be worked into the free spaces of the round below it and not in the stitches of the round below. you may be either skipping a space or placing the first cluster in the wrong space. also make sure to count your clusters after each round.

      yes where you join in the round the stitches should be worked into the same stitch where the round is joined.
