But that feeling of evading a Guns Akimbo, then, in the tail end of it, winding up a Braver, and landing it the split second before Reload is about to end - plunging his entire stagger bar from 0% to 100%, and then paying him back for ALL THE BULLSHIT HE JUST PUT YOU THROUGH for 75% of his life bar was arguably the most satisfying gaming moment that game delivered in 180 hours. Oh hell, who am I kidding - arguably the most satisfying gaming moment in at least the last 5 years any game has.
I KNOW, I don’t understand how out of all the songs to remix, they did this one and somehow it’s not worse. They literally perfected it here, it’s the perfect battle theme imo
The way you reacted when he showed up... I was like you, waiting to listen to his theme once again and it didn't dissappoint. I couldn't even focus on the fight because of how epic this version is. Pressed the dualsense touchpad and enjoyed listening to the music before proceeding with boss fight, lol.😅 😅
@@firetools Ive had a theory for a bit that they might incorporate the original scenario's ideas for Cobalt 14 and Indigo 15 in part 3 just to give Red more story content since his arc kinda ended in this game. Would be cool to have a 2 v 3 with Cloud and Red vs Rufus and the new dogs.
One thing I really like about Rufus in Remake/Rebirth is that it's utterly clear he's just an ordinary man who happens to have inherited an insane amount of money and political/social status. Which, by itself, isn't that impressive. But he's also depicted as a powerful leader in his own right --- and to top it off, he's actually quite dangerous. He and his dog make a pretty formidable team, especially if you don't know what you're doing. Rufus and Cloud have an interesting dynamic too. I think on some level, they genuinely respect each other as opponents, and it's almost like they fight as though they have something to prove and just relish the thought of besting each other for the mere sake of it. They've had very little shared screentime, but whenever they do, it always feels deeply personal.
Rufus is one of the cases where the Remakes really improved from the original. In the og he was just another cartoon villain like the rest of the Shinra board yapping about ruling through fear or whatever. In Remake/Rebirth he has so much more personality and became that much more interesting as a result
They're similar in a few ways, too. They both are living in someone else's shadow (Rufus' father and Sephiroth) and believe that they have the world on their shoulders. I think they see that in each other, at least a bit.
They definitely respect each other and just want to duke it out. There's absolutely no reason for Cloud to make their fight a 1v1 in Rebirth, but he does it anyway. There's also no reason for Rufus to put himself in such a vulnerable position in the first place, but there he is just wanting to test his skills against Cloud fully knowing he's going to indulge him. Really love their dynamic and can't wait how it plays out in part 3.
Holy shit. This entire time doing the fight, I thought it was a recycled track from Remake (no issue with that, OG is dope). But no...they somehow made an underrated banger into something even more epic. The crowd cheering adlibs in the background really accentuate the whole rivalry fight in a giant colosseum. So fucking badass.
I thought the same and i was still happy with it and then I noticed a bit of difference until i realized how different it was and I loved it!!!!!! I just fought him and was 2 levels under and it was challenging and it wass funnn
I was thinking about this earlier and while that's true, he's able to do this because he has access to infinite money, technology, and does not have to worry about stability or commitments to others so he has the time to practice gun-fu while secretly having a finger in every pie. That's a big contrast to our heroes who largely have struggled for survival (or maybe in 'cait sith's' case via Reeve, struggled to preserve others' survival?). So you're right, Rufus does 'fight his own battles' and displays skill doing so, and I think a part of his evil vibe is that this is a nepo baby styling on us.
One thing I love about ff7 remake and rebirth is that despite being in a world of magic, monsters, and sephiroth, somehow the preppy trust fund kid with a gun and his pet dog is one of the harder fights
I absolutely love the alarms in this song that just adds to the absolute idea that Rufus is such a dangerous foe in more ways than one. One wrong move and you could end up dead.
I love 1:18 and 3:44, it’s like the music is telling you the devastation Shinra has caused but since you’re in the middle of battle it’s like a sad part of the Shinra theme but sped up and with drums because now you are faced and battling with the man who’s doing all this. Bravo Nobuo Ps I know it’s in the original Remake version too but the extra drums add to the intensity here.
I really notice that in Rebirth, the core theme for most songs is Aerith's theme or Tifa's theme, mainly Aerith's theme, which I love, but damn did it tear me up during some aspects, knowing full well to what you're going torwards to.
Rufus showing up at Gold Disney Land to fight in a WWE style grudge match is ridiculously out of character to the point of complete ludonarrative dissonance.....I loved it
I disagree. The whole point was making up a show for long enough so Cait could give them the keystone. As he says it himself when you beat him "enough with this farce".
Nah. Rufus is lowkey a troll. If we're going off of his stunt in Advent Children, him telling his Turks he has "an idea" without any further elaboration is definitely on point for Rufus. Dude lives in extra and flashy-ass appearances LMAO. 😂😂😂

I also expect us to go back for Dyne's weapon during some Barret sidequest or during the return to Corel mission and it might actually be his Missing Score.

The official theme of missing the Reload window by one second and getting a faceful of bullets instead

Rufus is so cool In this remake
