- Welcome To Episode 2 of the ASYMR Podcast! Sadly it's the end of the line for Evil Dead: The Game as we won't be getting anymore content developed into the game. In this episode i'm joined by OldHeadGaming! & we go over some very interesting screenshots I received from a dev who worked on Evil Dead: The Game at Saber Madrid which basically exposes Saber and Tim Willits with all the lies they gave us throughout the course of the game.

This game breaks my heart so much. So I met Oldhead about two years ago while streaming DbD and became one of his mod team few weeks later anyway during that time he introduced me to the world of Evil Dead so I was very excited when we got this game and it delivered on the gameplay at launch. We had an ASyM we don’t usually see where the survivors actual actively fight the killer side. Usually in ASYMs you hide, you do objectives such as in DbD working generators and escape if you run into the killer your option is the run or die, but Evil Dead we got weapons and we fought the demons and their army Ais. And they had most of the actors reprise their roles for the voices most notably Ash Williams himself Bruce Campbell. I feel so bad for Bruce too he really went to bat for this game and marketed it for them. While I won’t be playing CoD if you ever seen me play any game that requires quick reflexes you know why, I am happy Bruce is getting his likeness out there cause this is on Saber not you Bruce Campbell. You nailed it on this game you brought all the charm and humor of Ash Williams in your voice acting. I do hold the game in high regard for that which is why it hurt so much that Saber refused to support this game. I will never buy a game made by Saber ever again.

The ground floor developers who actually worked hard and built this game clearly cared so much for it and the franchise as a whole because of how good the actual game itself was gameplay wise and all the fan service, but the high ups at saber, the suits and the people making decisions, just did not give a single fuck about it and just wanted to get their money from release and the dlc and greenlight their other projects from that and get out. Never buying another saber game ever again.
Exactly how I feel. The guy i was in conversation with at Saber Madrid held a lot of passion for the game. Would even tuned into some of my DBD streams before the game came out and seen I was playing Ash and would ask me about adding these outfits to the game. I really felt like he wanted to add them but was just stopped by the higher ups and IP holders.
I'd like to thank you and Old Head and hell even Middi for keeping the game fun to watch and play until the very end. Tim can scream from the mountaintops that "He cared" but his actions proved otherwise. As someone who loves asyms, its disappointing to see yet another great game meet its demise due to the developers not listening to their playerbase. Evolve, F13, now Evil Dead, and most likely TCM by how they're handling things. Unfortunately these games are lightning in a bottle. The biggest thing I've learned from all of this is to not support Saber. Thank you for putting this together! Hope you have a great weekend!
I will defend the F13 devs here. The whole lawsuit with the F13 series kind of ruined everything they were planning for that game.
Evil dead was fun but once everyone mid maxed their classes it lost its casual fun and went into tryhard sweat territory.
Even then it could still be fun competitively compared to other Asyms, However no matchmaking just created steamrolls.
I don't know if it's possible at all but hell we gotta save this game with that petition going on.

What makes the Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed comparison even more hilarious is that every DLC thing they’ve released has been 100% free. Over the course of a year they have released content for The Real Ghostbusters, Extreme Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters 2 and Ghostbusters 2016, multiple cosmetics and even went super niche with them and made cosmetics based on old Kenner toy lines and shit, retooled their character customised, planned a story expansion and three new ghost types all off of the money from the game sales alone. No DLC, no season pass, no micro-transactions. Meanwhile look at Evil Dead the game fucking dying in just over a year and not being able to even release their content in the actual order it was intended
Absolutely pathetic it really is. A reality we have to live in where Ghostbusters is still going stronger than Evil Dead in a game.
They ended up making more money than expected, and that made the game useless for them going forward, almost an anchor. Now they can try and make a new game and make that much money again. DO NOT BUY GAMES FROM SABER INTERACTIVE. This is clearly how they intend to operate.
They essentially pulled the scam from The Producers

This we could have bought: chet, brandy, coogie, Kelly's parents, the knights of sumaria, the pyro demon from the militia episode (Gary?), the evil dead rise pack, apocalypse map, Jacksonville map, ashes home town, the asylum map, the "among us" style play mode, tons of skins including possessed Pablo.
Yeah I agree 👍 and Lem was the militia pyro demon. Just imagine how cool his units would of looked including dropping Pablo with the militia disguise gear

Anger inducing moves from the start, but out of Evil Dead The Game I found 3 top notch content creators in Middi, Old Head Gaming, and Pixelz who haven't let me down like Saber. So that is how to end it on a positive note, hehe.

Oh it definitely was a big well thought out Cash grab. Look at the epic deal they made first then put it on steam once it basically was in a zombified state.
Thanks again Pixelz for not letting up on scummy dev tactics like this. Saber and other companies like illfonic need to be held responsible for their hubris.
The lies and just straight up mockery we all received from them is extremely annoying.
Taking the game away from the developers who were the only ones capable of adding new content into this game.
Not to mention that it was their plan all along to cut production on this game shortly after its launch.

I will always appreciate the support especially when I know it's never going to be the same game that brought so many people to my channel and I respect that even more!

This is the only multiplayer game that I got heavily invested in since the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer back in 2012. Even started spending A LOT of time making RUclips videos about Evil Dead. I had such a great time coming to streams and hanging with the chat. I'm pissed and sad that the potential of this game has been cut short. It's a damn shame. Appreciate all of your hard work Pixels.
It's a real shame. But it's clear to me that the game panned out exactly as they intended it too!
Really appreciate everything you did for the game. It’s such a waste of what could (and should) have been the 1# multiplayer horror game. I got blocked by Tim Willits yesterday on X/Twitter, apparently he is blocking a lot of people for calling him out about the way they handled Evil Dead: The Game. If only that could have been an rare achievement in Evil Dead: The Game. “Blocked By Tim Willits”😅
Yeah i seen all of them obnoxious replies he was giving people...weird how he all of a sudden wants to talk about the game to us when we got completely ignored by him for almost the entire life span of the game being out...he is a coward and he didn't even reply to my response to him because he knows himself it was true about taking the game away from the capable studio and handing it to mobile developers

We had this conversation in the classroom about video game, designs, about evil dead game. The money, and time it would have took, to make new stages and to add content. Would have took way too much resources. This is why huge games make DLC content before the game is released and set on it. The game came out on May 13, then the DLC first one came out on July 13. They should have set on it to the end of the quarter it. It takes a lot of hours and programming to make sure the game run smoothly and also investors for the DLC contents need to get returns every quarter. Investors don’t get their returns back every quarter. The game is dead. I really knew that this game was struggling when they gave the game out free and the game was going to end soon. If they would have put the game on game pass. And have the servers up they would have made a lot more money on the DLC content. what they really have should have done, was waited a full year to make DLC content before they release the game. have better, DLC, Contant, then charge more for the DLC content.

It’s very sad this game failed because it is such a fun game and very interesting gameplay, hell I’m still going to be playing it until the servers get shut down (until the wheels fall off) truly. I think with a more supportive team this game could have been more amazing than what it already is and it could have made even more money than they’d imagined.

Why I wanted evil dead rise content I was so looking forward to it that month.
Such a shame. Literal goldmine and they ruined it. The good news is killer klowns from outer space looks pretty similar in terms of both sides being able to fight each other.
They didn't want it. They took their initial bag of cash and ran away with it. Absolute joke of a studio.
Funny you mention Splatter Royale and the Feb 2nd update. That's what IMO, was the point of no return. It was when I officially realized they were completely disconnected from the actual issues in the game and weren't willing to budget any sort of meaningful development. That's when I saw demon mains just give up hope and then the main 4 stacks lost interest soon after. The excitement just was taken out of the game from that point.
Same here I remember sitting on the stream that day when splatter Royale dropped and thinking WTF HAVE THEY BROUGHT TO THIS GAME!!! and just thought all the time they spent on that gamemode was wasted that could of been there to improve the asyms
@@ItzPixel it was the last time I really remember the community offering some great solutions to fix real issues in the gameplay...and they announced Splatter Royale and 100hp off cars to "address the rush meta". It was essentially a meme update.

Killer Klowns 🤡 looks like it’s gonna be insane af though! 🖤🔥🔥I think Killer Klowns Is gonna be the best IllFonic game yet and possibly the best Asymm yet by the way, WE HAVE TO SAVE THIS GAME! I’m loving Evil Dead only have had it for a few days already but it’s amazing I need this game to stay alive love Evil Dead series and Ash! I mean come on the Ashy Slashy costume with the puppet and Devil 👿 costume Ash is awesome af! All the weapons are amazing and executions and the maps even Henrietta in the basement making noise etc and the map with the blood 🩸 rain 🌧️ etc.
I'm going to keep playing until shuts down. I would discourage anyone from spending money in it though.

I’m about half way through the podcast! All I gotta to say is I saw this Bs coming long ago with their ridiculous livestreams, huge missed opportunity’s and especially when they screwed you over! Hopefully they sell the IP to someone that really cares about the franchise and cares about the people (gamers)! Great job as always fam… I’m gonna go finish watching the podcast.

Yeah you were one of the first to uninstall it and I don't blame you, the beta days were the peak of this game sadly, after launch it just felt like a unfinished empty shell of a game that didn't get the love it deserved and neither did the playerbase. But Saber got their own way and forced us out from the game and let it die because they simple did not care.

I'm literally upset and sad almost crying because I loved this game but they just ruined it and so lazy to work on any no content and when they said there done I'm like upset Saber sucks it's garbage they will always suck forever because they killed this game but all the characters in survivor and demon were fantastic all of actors voiced there characters was awesome but they just killed the game I hate Saber they should not be apart of any horror game multiplayer type

Yep. They killed this game on purpose. They did not want or care to take any far on it's post launch content and decided to take that Evil Dead bag of cash and invest it into a new IP
I just found out about this game and been debating on purchasing it. But the more research I do, the more I'm understanding, it's dead? Like, no future updates or events?

Great episode! These are my feelings man. I do feel duped as well. I also agree that I'm tired of asym games dying out too. My two loves re: resistance and evil dead game both dead. TCM it is but the way it's going; I don't see it lasting too long either. Why can't devs take the blueprint from dbd?
Just do what DBD did right and avoid what it's doing wrong and you've got the perfect game. This almost had it but couldn't copy DBD's perfected scheduling of content which this deserved more than any asym game on the market

I still can’t get in the Splatter Royale I’ve only had the game for 6 days and I love 🖤 the game but can’t find any splatter Royale matches, but if I Q in too 4 survivors against the Demon that finds a match quickly, Is Splatter Royale not very popular?
Splatter Royale is completely dead and has been pretty much since they brought it to the game because it's a side mode that no one really cared about or enjoyed compared to the survivor Vs demon mode which was their main game mode
I started this game about a month ago. Despite me feeling there are some issues with balance and sometimes getting frustrated by being frequently matched against Prestige 3-5 survivor stacks as a demon or a Prestige 5 demon and a full squad of fellow newbies (where the hell were these when I'm demon?) when I'm a survivor, I mostly enjoyed the game. All I can really say is that it's a decent game run by incompetent people, and that's a shame.
Pixelz should def play ghostbusters 😁 cause bustin makes you feel good 😅

50:15 I sort of disagree with the notion that some people behind this game didn't have a passion for the franchise. There's so many easter eggs to obscure facts about Evil Dead's production and influences baked into the maps and the gameplay loop connects so well to the established lore for the franchise. I just think all of that passion was only there during the initial development cycle.
I think we were referring to mainly the heads of the beast etc instead of the people who actually cared about the license and franchise.
They paid homage to this franchise in a very good way but ultimately you could start to feel the cooperative decisions bleed through in some areas of the game and especially with how a few of them easily misquoted the franchise
They should have released it on Steam from the start.

The fact that Jane Levy was supposed to voice Mia but it didn’t end up happening due to miscommunication as she said also shows how little devs cared about the game and making sure it was as faithful to the source material as possible and how badly they fumbled this game 😂
The story they tell about the cancelled Evil Dead Rise content also shows that. Like how do you mess up so badly that you end up stroking a deal with WB to use it then don’t figure out a new plan when the movie gets delayed?

I didn't even know the game was coming out/out. Personally, no new content is not a deal breaker for me. I just hope the servers last awhile. It is obviously a let down sabre didnt care tho.

I played the it yesterday and in all honesty I enjoyed it again. The new killers are game changing
The real problem was that there wasn't enough exclusivity. Characters should have had different combos, they should'ntve been as vulnerable to the same methods of insanity and special attacks would've been cool not just abilities. Sure there's a lot more but to late anyway.
I would have been okay if the game was one-and-done if they were just honest about it. Such as the Monster Hunter games are up front about supporting a release for about a year and then moving on. Monster Hunter World has been content complete for nearly three years and still has thousands of concurrent players every day. There's nothing to gain with all the deception. It's only harmed the Evil Dead community and destroyed Saber's credibility.
Nintendo switch got an extra year for Friday the 13th b4 the servers went down
Evil dead needed a single player mode, yeah they had crap games years ago, that argument doesn’t hold water imo
It's dumb to pour resources into a single player mode like they did. One BIG issue with this game they tried too many modes, spreading themselves too thin instead of shining in 1 or 2 game modes.
It failed because they put it on epic instead steam
Its not problem on epic and epic gived free game for pc , later year on steam but they destroyed the game and left , they just scam us and taked ours money .

I check back now and again as a year ago I said the imbalance between the demon and the heroes was just way too high. It was doomed to fail. Why play the game as demon if you have one shot boss builds and infinite loops etc etc. Now I fully admit I jumped ship early as the imbalance just seemed so obvious. Was this the case ? I mean I said it would fail and it did but was it the balance ? I really enjoyed it when it came out first but the second you got 4 competent heroes it was over. You felt like you had no real influence and that’s the worst feeling in a game. Wins don’t matter. It’s the challenge and feeling like you “could” win .

It’s a podcast why you cut material? Podcast are long because they are podcasts. Only makes sense to cut stuff if it’s dead air or something went wrong and you trying to fix it
Some stuff we talked about were straying abit away from the subject and I edited it to keep the focus on the theme of the podcast.

You really think that insider was lying to you about MGM preventing them from creating and releasing content faster via delayed-approvals?
Do you really think more content would not have been developed for a longer period if Embracer didn't lose that billion dollar deal and if Saber U.S. could actually work with and match the super high quality work Saber Madrid was doing?
Too many ifs...when the facts are there. They didn't bother speaking to the license holders after launch, that's why everything was pretty much leaked at launch...not to mention the fact the game moved studios way before Embracer deal fell through

I'm more on the positive side of things. I appreciate what's there and made rather than focusing on what isn't.
I think they did a phenomenal job on what the game is (except for the fact that you can't get into a Splatter Royale match, at least as far as I'm aware).
I truly share the pain in that this game could have gone on longer as a live-service game with so much further potential. But the game itself is complete, in that the Survivor Vs Demon mode is what it ultimately is, and it's wonderful. It's a fun mode to play over and over.
Another map or two and a few more characters isn't going to change what that main mode already is.
It's not like we're promised many years of new content, we just assumed and hoped for that.
I'm looking forward to the next possible Evil Dead game, maybe the one we've been wanting that is story-based, focused on Ash Vs Evil Dead.
I wasn't expecting an asymmetrical Evil Dead game, but I accept it for what it is: a surprisingly addictive series of matches made with love. And I'm not disappointed with it.
Although, I would like Splatter Royale to work, as I had an absolute blast playing that.
@@xybervox tbh we were told a lot of times from Tim himself saying they plan to support the game for a really long time and if anyone here's that they're expecting 2 years minimum but instead it was gone from its studio in 8 months and put in maintainance mode :(.
No one is a fan or as heartbroken as me with not being able to cover this game. I'm sure I'll still play it from time to time but honestly, it really just gets to me everytime I play it on the wasted opportunity the game had and the lies we went through from Tim.

Game play was bad...both dead by daylight and this game are clunky and all over....give me a gears of war movement with these skins over them and that was 360 years ago...transfer the rights to kojima productions ...his company made silent hills...think of what he would do with IP
