- When I asked what confuses you about future bass. The number one thing you said are the chords.

0:21 The Easiest Chord Layer
01:25 Choral Voicing Tips
03:01 How to make emotional chords
06:12 How to stack supersaws
08:18 How to improve chord progressions
With these tips and tricks, you'll be able to write fuller, more resonant emotional chords which will make your supersaws thicker, mixing easier, and chord progressions inspirational.
Ableton is amazing for this and makes music theory easy for producers.
A lot of work went into this but if you're still confused

Nice video! I like the tip regarding choral voicing. However, I would like to add that 11 semitones only works for major scales. It is supposed to be 10 semitones up if you are writing in minor scale., i.e., C minor scale which has b flat or a minor 7th and c minor 7 would be C E flat G B flat
thank you!
Was thinking this too glad you clarified! Great vid tho 👍🏻
The first video of yours I've really watched, definitely not the last one. Thank you so much, this was so helpful :))
amazing tips as always ashh!
This was super helpful! Thank you so much man!
Best tutorial on this topic I've seen! Than you 👍
Thank you for tips and tricks ash❤
THANK YOU SO MUCH 😀
incredible, missed this one
Congrats for the 10k
THANK U
Love them spread out bottoms!
you get it
bro i was like what am i missing now my song is fire thank you lol
great tips thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Also awesome tip is *transposing of chords*
yes! transposing can give you a diff perspective on how your progressions sound!
Well that fixes alot my problems.
This is such a great tutorial! Out of curiosity, were you using Clairvoyant by The Story So far as an example for this video tutorial?
yes!
Awesome tutorial. When you go over stacking your "supersaws", how do you get it so certain layers only play certain notes (i.e. the color coding) as opposed to just copying and pasting the midi and removing the unnecessary notes?
thank you!!
they are just copy pasted midi. in ableton 11 u can select a bunch of midi clips and they all show up together in the piano roll - i just color coded them so it'd be easier to see in the video
@@ashFB2B Ok, thank you. I was wondering if there was some magic secret I was missing lol.
Adding space between notes of the chords could be a problem in the mix session? I mean, by spreading them out they occupy more space in frequency spectrum and something that usual sit in middle or middle-high range is now in mid-low also...how do you make every instrument sit ?
ok no. so much misunderstood info here
adding space in the lower notes helps mixing cuz when there's too many things there it adds to muddiness. ur making space.
putting more notes towards the higher frequencies is better cuz even tho theres lots of sounds it won't be muddy cuz lower frequencies clash while higher frequencies dont.
pick your sounds and instruments keeping this in mind and everything will sit nicely in the mix before u even touch an EQ
Would going down 1 semitone from C (or first note in a scale) also result in finding the 7th?
depends on the scale , that's why i show this method - but as the comments say - it still differs between major / minor
@@ashFB2B Ahhh that makes sense!! thanks for the tip
1 year old, but for anyone wondering - for MAJOR SCALES, the 7th is 1 semitone below, for MINOR SCALES, the 7th is 2 semitones below
(yes, I know this only applies to the ionian major and the aeolian minor scale modes, for those with more knowledge)
is the piano that youre using an external piano that you have hooked up to midi?
i use my computer keyboard as a midi controller right now ahaha
@@ashFB2B lol are you using a stock ableton piano or a preset? i think that was the better question lol
@@Nothingloads its the pianoM preset from the chrono trigger soundfont
what color scheme is set ?
what do you mean? colors for ableton?
Instead of copying the lowest note of the chords one octave lower, I reccomend you copying the root note of the chords in the lower octave. If you don't know what's a root note of a chord then I reccomend you learning at least the basics of music theory cause trust me guys you'll need them to make music

I feel like I cheated watching this
😏
What is a poop saw? What? Square bass sounds like a fart? Or did I totally mishear that?
