Adding on the teachers leasson its more advised to master change down without using exhaust brake or retader but just taping on your gear lever and mater the usage of a trailer brake if the truck is fitted with one it will help you one day I was almost caught up in a accident along n12 when two trucks from kerlin transport did miracles in front of me luckily i was cary a 12 meter container on a 3 axle skeleton .during the action i used my foot brake, change down,trailer brake and max exhaust brake to save the moment that was on a old but strong second generation volvo 440 .but all in all videos can give us theory of an idea but experince is the best teacher .stay blessed truck drivers and enjoy the road while u can and remember dont close the curtains everywhere just close it and shake the arial only at home (be safe drivers) my uncles cousins brothers young brothers friend was buried last week bafethu.

My brother please tell me something,as you going downhill and the retarder is on 3 or 4... And speed is around +-40 and gear 8,are you pressing acceleration or not? And what gear must you be on when the truck stops with retarder maybe at at tollgate or traffic?
Truck can stop with gear 6 but once you stop its going to change it self to gear 3 or less it depends with the load that you are pulling... Retarder is when you driving your car and you slow down with brake, you can't press accelerator and brake sometime
What advice can you give to some of us who wants to join the truck driving industry without experience.... I have code 10+pdp but when the companies are hiring they need someone who has worked with trucks before.

Good morning Drigo are you aware that is not easy to be a truck driver more especially if you're not in the trucking industry because truck practicing at the driving school is just a basic and differs a lot from driving a truck practically. And tell me who taught you all that because even the instructors at the driving school back at our rural homes can't do that?
I've never heard or seen some thing like a special truck driving school where by truck drivers are trained, most of the truck drivers were trained at their different respective working places or for example at the farms the drivers learn how to drive by operating tractors.And i still remember i encouraged the certain guy from from my home village Motlolo Driekop, i met him at Rustenburg working for a big well known trucking company they were replacing or changing the flat tyres so i advised him just to get himself an extra heavy drivers license because by working there according to me was lucky because he had all the exposure needed.

Lots of people cannot operate more than six (6) gears, gear box to be able to i think needs proper training and enough time as well.

Truck doesn't use brake pads if you use foot brake u will lose air and you won't control it at the same time u can burn it
