Congratulations on your success with these beautiful fish! I wonder at what age would the juveniles no longer predate on the fry and convert to a more herbivorous diet?
Very nice. I always keep my various Silver Dollars with larger cichlids. Great dither fish. They live very long life.. 17 y old and I had to pass to someone cause I was moving. All these 17 y still breeding constantly , no babies cause it was a community tank. My observation also, the male Silver dollar have something similar to little hook at the bottom of it anal fin and also the spots in Spotted Silver dollars mostly disappearing when fish reach 4 inch or so.. My largest female reached around 8" being older then 15 y old. Fish grew all its life
It's fascinating how different they feed and swim when as fry than as adults. They swim almost like mini puffers.
it just great that the metynnis don't eat the Garnelio - Süßwassertang - Lomariopsis lineata. Are you sure they don't do it all?
