Also, ask yourself, "if I have to leave in one hour and are not able to return for three days, what impact will it have if I don't get this done?"
Oh gosh, these tips are so simple, direct, and immediately applicable. I so appreciate this!
Glad it was helpful!
Great tips. Thank you. I'm new to being an assistant and just the perspective shift will help me destress. It's not about getting all of the to-do list done. It's about getting the most important and urgent things done.
Joan you preached that!!! This is life and business skills! THANK YOU
Thank you Joan! I'm spreading the word about Office Dynamics. Recently, I've worked with temp agencies who frequently assigned me to companies that really need your coaching and seminars.

This is awesome. Nice Work Joan. I am an Administrative Assistance and have been having falls on the aspect of always doing plenty thing that pops up immediately. Forget if its urgent or not.
I am starting a nurse case manager position which is very different from a regular nursing job. This means a lot of emails reports and paperwork. I am so glad I found this video because I’ve been so anxious thinking about how I would manage everything and be efficient with my time.
Best of luck!

Hi Tammy, how’s it going now? I’ve been feeling incompetent and a little overwhelmed.😬 I hope everything worked out well for you. It’s a learning process but not easy when there’s also so many little things to get done and our mind is going all crazy.😆😊

Such smart advice! The psychology is so important! We all feel like we must get everything done immediately! It’s our personality types that’s why we are in these positions! We are perfectionists. This is awesome!
Thank you for your kind words! I'm glad to hear that you found my advice helpful.
Indeed, psychology plays a crucial role in our ability to manage our time effectively. It's common for many of us to feel the pressure to get everything done immediately, and this can stem from a variety of factors such as personality traits like perfectionism, societal expectations, or personal goals.
However, it's important to recognize that trying to do everything at once can actually be counterproductive and lead to burnout or a decrease in overall productivity. By understanding our own psychological tendencies and taking steps to manage them, we can improve our time management skills and work towards achieving our goals in a more sustainable and efficient way.
I hope that my advice has provided you with some useful insights and tools to help you manage your time better.
Very educational.
Thank you for this video!!!

What sort of formal training do you offer? I see so much value on your channel already for free! It’s amazing. I’ve been on “auto-pilot” like you said, almost every day. Im going to start using your strategies. Thank you again 😊

I just started a new job. In the interview process they told me I would have 4 managers to support. Within 5 days of starting my reports to manager changes and she tells me I am supporting 9 managers so I am feeling a little overwhelmed. So prioritizing is key. Which manager takes priority? Obviously travel, then meetings. So any tips you can provide is appreciated. Thank you for posting these type of videos!
Hi Nette, we have quite a few blogs that may help you out. Take a look officedynamics.com/?s=multiple+managers
ABC system.
A- done within 24 hours. A1, A2, A3
B- done within 4 days. B1, B2, B3
C- next month. C1, C2, C3.
Thank you for the great video. I feel like you’ve been watching me struggle 😂
Happy to help!
What are the three types of processes? I probably missed it in another video.
Hi from Canada
Hi Joan, how would you use your prioritising techniques in a paper-lite environment? That is, in an environment where printing/hard copies are kept to the very bare minimum and working in an electronic environment instead? Thanks
I know you’re asking for Joan’s answer but I thought I’d make a suggestion. I would say get a small dry erase board and section it A, B, C. I would do this if I didn’t have the physical papers to place in different priority sections and wanted something physical to look at. Then you’d be able to draw a line through the completed items or erase them and it would be pretty satisfying. 🤓
I use a small whiteboard to keep to do’s mainly things that are a work in progress. Keeps them in my eye site
❤❤👍👍
👍👍

I need to add you on Facebook!
You are more than welcome to!
A- what will happen if I don't do this today? This decides A1, A2, A3.
