Nah, that's Martika. She actually adopted that stage name a little later in the series, then around 89-90 or so, had an album out and vids on MTV. This show cranked out some real talent, with alums like her, Rahsaan Patterson doing the soul thing to this day, and of course Fergie. Brought a smile to my face to see all three of them turn official as adults.
This song randomly popped into my head while I was at work today, so I had to show my coworkers (who are significantly younger than me!) Watching this video drummed up memories I didn't even know I still had! So 80s-fabulous!
Its so amazing how Im cutting onions right now seeing this video, my childhood just flashed right before my eyes more than 25 years flashing right before my eyes..
Renee had Wild Orchaid but I think Spice Girls came out around that time so her group didn't get far. Stacy would of course reappear on the scene years later with the Black Eyed Peas.
I knew this show was real!!! I used to watch it all the time on YTV and growing up, no one ever remembered. I was almost convinced that maybe it was just my imagination and it was a mix of other shows.. but it always came on after Alice in the Mirror.. I'm so glad I found it!!
I've never forgotten a word of this song in my 36 years. And I never saw a rerun after the originals. God, it feels good to feel like a kid again. Even for three small minutes.
Saturday morning cartoons were over when this came on. This show was my que for it was time to go outside and ride the BMX over to my friends for weekend adventures.
I agree, the magic from the 80's is second to none, those scene swipe effects are beautiful. They should create a classic disney channel just like there's a turner classic movies and mtv classic.
@@jimmyfigueras4476 As well as another channel for non-Disney 80s and 90s shows, though I guess the various companies/channels would have to negotiate with each other on that one. Unless multiple nostalgia channels are possible....
Listening to this theme song after all these years makes me realize something. Marta Marrero, or Martika I should say, WOW--she had such an amazing voice!!
I was around 16 when this show debuted, so I didn't really watch it, but that darn theme song has managed to stay in my head for decades! I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not, but here I am listening to it again.
This show and it's theme song is strongly tied to my first memory of tv shows. This show must have aired reruns into the early 90s. That's when I remember tv entering my life..and never leaving..
It amazes me every time I come back to this how much stage presence they all had at such a young age! I'm willing to bet each of them had theater experience prior to being on this show. And I know I'm asking for ridicule, but sad to say I never watched an episode entirely when this show was on. Hopefully one day the door will open for me to do something about that.
haha .. I still get that theme song in my head every now and then.. I was just at the right age to really enjoy the show when it was made... haven't seen anything of the show since the mid 80's.. Had no idea Fergie and Martika and Jennifer Love Hewitt were part of it. Cheers for uploading this!
This show was so cool! I loved watching it!!! I remember the snack bar guy and he was trying to teach the kids to eat healthy and drink water and stuff. And that one Asian girl didn't wanna do it!
wow! The 90's show was the best of my childhood memories this generation would not understand how it was so good back then I remember hurrying up to get home by 3pm to watch this show with my little brother we were so into this thanks youtube.
This song is so awesome. Makes me feel like dancing. I am 31 yrs. old now!! I remember when this was on Disney was Dis was a pay channel! I wanted my parents to subscribe to disney channel back then just so I could watch Kids Inc. and Pooh Corner! I cherished those rare times when the free preview week would come one, and this show would come on!! Seriosuly, who wouldn't want to hang out at that set with the gang dancing and singing!
+KidsIncorporated yes they did. it was the episode where Cleveland is a coach for a school baseball team and they get Cleveland's friend holt to pretend like he is a student so he can pitch for the team.
I FEEL LIKE I'M 10 YEARS OLD AGAIN! I used to love Kids Inc. Though the episodes I saw were a few months old because we didn't have cable. I saw them on KDVR Channel 31 in Denver. Still though, what memories!
OMG.....I used to get up at 7:00 AM on a Saturday morning to watch this show! Absolutely loved it and was obsessed! If you grew up in the 80s, this show was the shit!!! Eat your heart out GLEE!
Man I am old. I watched this as a kid in the 80s.
Lurker1979 Me too! It was a favorite show of myself and my 3 younger sisters!

The hair too
I miss it all. Haha.
What's funny, is I haven't seen this for um... a ton of years.. and I still get this song stuck in my head every once in a while... I love the song.

Between this and the mickey mouse club
The theme song would give me goosebumps. I loved it SO much as a kid. I still hear it in my head sometimes. Nothing is like the 80s. Nothing.
i was obsessed with this show omg
same here, everyday after school.
So was I
There should be a Kids Incorporated reunion with ALL the people and dancers that were on this show!
Its so amazing how Im cutting onions right now seeing this video, my childhood just flashed right before my eyes more than 25 years flashing right before my eyes..
only 25 years lucky , been 40 for me 1984 one month older than Stacy/Fergie
Boy,what a blast from the past! Kids,Inc. was a must-see for me Sunday mornings for the first two years.

I hadn't realized it was Martika, thanks for clearing up.
@@projetor.m.2353 it's a shame she didn't get HUGE in the late 80's early 90's.

Me too. I couldn't remember if it was The New Mickey Mouse Club so then I saw a random video about Kids Incorporated and the intro jogged my memory.
watched this all the time- and just realized that Rahsaan Patterson whom I love was... little Rahsaan! !
you mean "The Kid".

The show for our age group as we went through the 80's and 90's, the music, the clothes, the positive nature of the show-totally awesome!

This Show Also Needs To Be Put Back On The Air
In the form of re-runs, though. I doubt a new version will have the magic this one did.
