Darn right!
Yes, the lyrics have always bothered me. He's a worthless bum (literally not figuratively) and she's got her act completely together. But as you say, that's pretty 'par for the course' in recorded pop music.
The animation still looks great today.
Cause animators actually drew instead of relying on cgi
Yessss I agree I love paula Abdul

Definitely a classic hit heading to 2024. You can't get this type of music videos anymore. It's an outstanding effort.
Paula Abdul was a very underrated performer............great dancer.........fab voice. OH And she is gorgeous
But it wasn't her voice.
это ее голос
Fab voice by a vocal guide singer that they actually used on the songs without giving her credit and didn't pay her so she sued and won a settlement..
Most people didn't notice any of that stuff because we couldn't get past how hot she was........

Kids nowadays cannot IMAGINE how huge and innovative this was, back in the day
I was just gonna comment the same.
As a kid whenever this came on MTV, my small mind was blown💥
Umm I dunno. Gene Kelly did this in 1945.
Innovative? Have you seen "Anchors Aweigh", the cartoon from 1945, where Gene Kelly teaches Jerry, the mouse, how to dance?

You’ve all got to remember that this song came out over a year after “Who Framed Roger Rabbit,” so I’ll bet they wanted to see what would happen if you did live-action/animation like WFRR in a music video! The result: it’s honestly pretty nifty!
I can't remember how many live actions and 2d animated movies have came out all .

How old was Paula was when she and Skat Kat was in Opposites Attract ?
This era was the ish. She had some great songs with great production.
I agree with you there! This was a great era for music, indeed!!
And yeah, Paula had an awesome run of great songs back at that time!
They just don't make music like this any more, unfortunately!
Thanks for posting this :)
...
Yes we definitely was on point the late 80s and 90s era..
@Osman Yousif it was a bit expensive and after Roger Rabbit let's say that almost all the attempts of mixing animation and live action were not very profitable
She sure does.
I Am King vv
I think miss Paula found the fountain of youth. She was 27-30 when she first made music and looked like a teen, now she's 54 and looks only maybe 34 (she's actually even more beautiful today).

I've seen candid videos of her without makeup- still beautiful. So are lots of women her age, or even into their 60s.

The most 80s thing I've seen and I love it so much.
1989.
bring me my fu....ing time machine now!!!!!
I feel that this is waaaay more 90's culturally actually. There's no synth, there's some rapping, animated and live action mixed together, grungy alleys and rooftops. The sets feel like something from a nickelodeon live action show.
Spot on
Ramon Zarazua I'd say it's very, very, late '80s-early '90s, it wouldn't happen any earlier than '87 or any later than '91. Also there's quite a lot of synth, just listen to that bassline, the 808 cowbell etc.
Paula's performance at the Billboard Music Awards brought me here. Such a classic video

She is sooo frekin' ADORABLE!!
I'm just mesmerized by the bassline and overall groove. Unbelievably funky.
The bassline was played by Minneapolis multiinstrumentalist St. Paul Peterson, the guy who was also the front man of the group The Family - meaning that he was the lead singer on the 1st release of the Prince-penned ”Nothing Compares 2 U”.
