    Cannaregio has some great Airbnb options as well, we stayed there last year and would definitely stay there again. Super easy to walk anywhere else you want to go.

    Castello is a great area to stay. Last trip I was there in a rental apartment in a very quiet residential area. For the entire month I just felt like a local, getting groceries almost every day and sitting in the park eating gelato with the other nonnas. My upcoming trip I found another lovely apartment in Castello, it is a bit closer to the lagoon and other popular sites but still a very quiet area. I had a vaporetto pass for the entire month so I could just hop on and go.
    One thing I recommend to anyone flying into or out of Venice is to take the Alilaguna to or from the airport. You can get off on a stop close to your accommodation instead of taking the bus and having to make your way to your accommodation from the bus station. Coming into Venice the Alilaguna takes you across the lagoon and is a wonderful way to be immersed into Venetian living. Venice is magical.

      How much did you pay for your monthly rent and do you like to share your Airbnb link?

    We booked a three city tour, beginning in Venice. The day before the tour began I tested positive for Covid and my wife and I had to stay behind. Fortunately, the staff at La Fenice took excellent care of us. We were awakened in the morning by church bells, and because the Opera House was next door we heard rehearsals in the courtyard. We're making a return visit this fall. Fingers crossed.

    Good video, especially if looking to avoid the crowds or save money. We stayed a few minutes walk behind Rialto Mercato, in October. It wasn’t too busy, and we loved it. But if it was in the middle of peak season, I agree it would be too busy, and too expensive. We were running late for our Doges Palace tour, so we were forced to hightail it on foot, over the Rialto Bridge, and we loved being able to walk over that bridge just to get to our destination. My point is, doesn’t really matter where you stay in Venice, it’s all good

    I stayed in Santa Croche and maybe it's because I flew in and then came by boat but I never once saw the train station or the port until I went to the train station to move on to Rome. It was so quiet. I definently recommend it for those that don't want all the hustle and bustle but still want options.
    I also did a "Tour Guy" tour of Saint Mark's and the Doge's palace. Thumbs Way Up

    Agree with avoiding the Train station area but mainly as it is not the nicest part of Venice, and is a bit far away from the central places to be. Have visited 8 times now and always picked a different hotel just to experience something new. In the summer months do not worry about potential nice views from room windows as we always had the shutters closed to keep the heat down. Not all hotels have A/C so consider this if your room is exposed to the sun all day as it will be very warm at night. I never worried about the areas being busy as the day tourists disappear in the early evening and Venice is nice and relaxed in the evening and in the morning. I only go to the room to sleep and freshen up before going out to eat in the evening. Give yourself time when you visit this allows you to enjoy it most. The breakfast in the hotel has always been terrible, little choice and very little fresh, consider booking without and eating out at a cafe which is still good first thing in the morning before the day tourists come back.

    Question if you take the valparreto to a designated stop, is the only way to get to a hotel or Airbnb by walking? Trying to find a place to stay

    • @TheTourGuyVids
      @TheTourGuyVids  5 месяцев назад

      Great question. Depends of where it is. Next to major vaporetto stops there are water taxi stands. You can ask them if they can reach your final destination and the price.

    The long strip of Cicchetti bars along Cannaregio is the real beauty of Venice for me!

      @@lukeuk9209 it’s called “Fondamenta della Misericordia” in Cannaregio. Personally recommend Vino Vero! Exceptional wine and Cicchetti! Grab a seat at a table anywhere on that strip for a sunset, and it’s truly magical!

    Near the end you commented that Dorsoduro was great if you have an early flight. We will have a 6 am flight out when we leave, what makes this area better for early flights?

    • @TheTourGuyVids
      @TheTourGuyVids  2 месяца назад +1

      Proximity to the airport water taxi but if your flight is that early you might have to make other arrangements. Check with your hotel.

    Im planning to go from milan to venice in august this year. Normally it only takes 2 hours and 15 minutes for that distance, but during my commute it would take 4 hours and 45 minutes. Should I book tickets now or should I wait until July to book tickets? Does anyone know if the tracks or what will be repaired? Any local friends here?
