M1904 76mm Mountain Gun

The M1904 76mm mountain gun, also known as the M1904 3-inch rapid-fire mountain gun, was developed by Russia in 1904. It was much earlier than the Type 92, which was standardized in the 1930s. The gun underwent an upgrade in 1908, with the issuance of more powerful shells to increase the muzzle velocity, and the addition of a gun shield. Although designed as a mountain gun, its overall performance was very similar to the later infantry guns. The biggest problem was the inability to be disassembled and transported, requiring horses to tow it during marches, making it less friendly to mountainous units and too burdensome on the horses.
