We spent around 3- 4 hours in GIETHOORN..but It was almost a full day trip from Amsterdam..apart from boat ride we did walking tour of the town, had lunch. We were back by evening and then explored Amsterdam..

Sorry, I am not expert on this, however EU countries have free roaming.. So one sim would work in all eu countries.. You can check for suitable plans for Orange, Lyca, Lebara sim cards..

Yes it's almost a full day trip. Travel from Amsterdam to Githoorn takes 2.5 hours. If you start normally in the morning from Amsterdam then you will be back by evening. You can plan to visit Amsterdam city in the evening/night. Route Map of canals in Githoorn will be explained and provided by boat rental shop. It's an easy route.
Need some important info. I mistakenly purchased an Amsterdam regional travel ticket instead of Dutch travel day ticket. From Amsterdam Central is there a way I can use regional travel ticket till some station with in Amsterdam region and then buy point to point ticket to Giethoorn. Don't want the regional ticket to be wasted which I purchased 4 of them for my family.
