      Rocky 3 is a transition movie. Stallone is moving away from realistic drama of his early career and into the action packed genre that will dominate his career going forward. Rocky 3, while lacking some of the great writing of the first two and is easy to make fun (the whole let him punch me until he gets too tried is still kinda funny) stallone shockingly creates a third film that cements Rocky as a character that you could do anything with. Some heartfelt moments great acting, and Apollo Creed becoming a mentor, it defied trilogies and got everyone to think "whats next?"

    • @FrancisXLord
      @FrancisXLord 16 дней назад

      @@bradhorowitz2765 In fairness the whole 'let him punch me until he gets too tired' was inspired by the 'rope-a-dope' technique, pioneered by Muhammed Ali who used it to defeat George Foreman in 1974. It was a recognised method of defeating big punchers in the ring by 1982.

      @@FrancisXLord that’s a cool bit! I think the movie plays up the campiness of that strategy. Like Rocky takes the hits after getting a good round…then acts as if he is ok..with Apollo and Paulie giving campy yet memorable lines. I mean family guy parodied that-nuff said :)

    In the mid-80's my high school football team made it to the state championship. We were a smaller school and were overwhelming underdogs going into the game. I'll always remember how our coach gathered the team the day before. We thought it was for practice or walkthrough of the gameplan. The coach just wanted us to spend the day together in fellowship, and instead of gameplanning he showed us Rocky 2, Rocky 3, and First Blood. You can only imagine how hype we were after that experience. Coach Blake really knew his psychology. Shout out to my Eustis Panthers, 1983 Florida 2A State Champions!

    The intro song for this movie was supposed to be "Another One Bites the Dust" by the band Queen. Sylvester Stallone could not get the rights to use the song for the movie and he had to find something else. The band Survivor was lucky enough to get the opportunity to write the intro song and they used the intro fighting punches to time it to the music beat. The end result was better and that is what they used for the movie and also launched Survivor into popularity. The original Rocky theme changed from the Rocky One. The original one didn't have vocals or the electric guitar. This original Rocky theme is probably the one everyone remembers when they remember the Rocky movies. The theme song was named "Gonna Fly Now." Its my favorite one.

    I saw a recent interview where Stallone gave the late Carl Weathers credit with making Rocky what it was. 19:07 When Stallone was interviewing people for Apollo he couldn't find anyone with the right build, attitude, voice and personality. Weathers came in and didn't realize who Stallone was (remember he wasn't famous then) Weathers nailed the audition and said he would have done even better if they had put a real actor in with him instead of some random guy (Stallone) lol

    Hi Verdy! There's a very interesting fact about this one. Sly had originally wanted Queen's _Another One Bites the Dust_ for the opening montage, but Queen wouldn't allow it. Bill Conti, who composed the score, didn't have time to write the pop/rock song that Sly wanted there, so Sly commissioned Survivor to write one, inspired by the "Eye of the Tiger" line that Apollo uses in this movie. They did, and I think we can all agree, it worked out for the best for everyone. 😊

    Yeah, Rocky 3!😍
    But something wrong with Mickey's age because after the argument with Rocky in his Apartment in Rocky 1 Mickey said he was 76 yo.!
    In Rocky 3, 3 years later Mickey died with 76?🤔
    Can somebody explain?

      Yeah, that's always bugged me when they show his plaque in this film and it says his birth year was 1905. According to the first film it should have been 1900. Sly's got his own RUclips channel, maybe we should ask him.

    This must be a older reaction because I thought that Verdy had her braces remove. All the Rocky Movies have great sound track.

      @FrancisXLord 20 дней назад

      She has a backlog of unedited reactions going back 11 months and we're slowly working our way through them. The braces will feature in many film reaction videos to come, but not her music reactions as they are produced the week they go up.

    Thunderlips part?

    • @FrancisXLord
      @FrancisXLord 17 дней назад

      On the cutting room floor I'm afraid. I'll see if I can get her to put up just that part, in a separate video. It was just the obvious thing to cut when the video was too long - aside from setting up Mickey's heart problem in one brief moment, it doesn't serve the narrative at all.

      @@FrancisXLord aside from the fact that I'm not that viewer, I made that comment ironically because I think the fight scene against Hulk Hogan is iconic in Rocky III and I would have liked to see the reaction to that scene.

      @@FrancisXLord I don't understand that. I've seen reactions longer by at least 30 people that kept it in it. But it is your channel and I do like most of her reactions. It's just that scene is so funny. Looking forward to more. Her Jurassic Park reaction was excellent.
