First time I’d heard this particular band before, but KK was in Judas Priest for around 40 years, and Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens was also in Judas Priest when Rob Halford left for a bit. Owens was also in Iced Earth for two albums, but we don’t talk about that band anymore.
I still talk about Iced Earth, all the albums that were released before the you-know-when are masterpieces regardless of what-we-do-not-speak-of... And he's still the best metal rhythm guitar player of all time in my opinion 😢
KK is known for his really crazy solos, which include some heavy whammy bar (bending the notes). If you want to check out more of that, watch "The Sinner" (Live Vengeance 82 version) to see KK really tearing it up.
hello, remember that K. K. Downing was a fundamental part of the band judas priest and that vocalist Tim Owens replaced metalgod Rob Halford when he launched his solo career
I don't know how much (if any) of Judas Priest's actual music you know, but I feel you can not go wrong by going back and listening to as much of it as you can; it is safe to say that this group, this song, and arguably heavy metal music itself would not be what it is or ever was without Judas Priest. (And obviously all the other metal and hard rock pioneers...) I see so many commenting on how this reminds them of Judas Priest, but I would hope you aren't overlooking the originals in your journey. I love to see your enjoyment of and passion for the music, keep it up, please.
Classic heavy metal is only for the true metalheads... people like me who live it and breathe it 🤘🤘🎸🎸🔥🔥Personally, I do love pop music by Michael Jackson, Depeche Mode, Phil Collins, Madonna, etc. or artists like Johnny Cash, 2Pac, The Beatles, The Doors... But it's always the metal that hits me hardest 🎸🎸I do appreciate honesty that heavy metal is not ur thing... and I'm always looking to help guide people to whom this brand of music speaks to individually... Whether it be the guitars, bass, drumming... the vocals... the lyrics... I'm one of those guys to whom Ronnie James Dio spoke to when he sang the words, "We are the innocent, we are the damned, We were caught in the middle of the madness, Hunted by the lion & the lamb"... (Dio - 'All the fools sailed away') I was the one who heard Phil Anselmo of Pantera declare, "The releasing of anger can better any medicine under the Sun..." (Pantera - 'Mouth for war') Judas Priest also said it best in their 1988 song 'Heavy Metal' : "Between the eyes I hear it screaming, And it electrifies Your inner feelings"... That is one of the reasons Judas Priest and K.K. Downing will always be the 'Metal Gods' ⚡🤘🤘Priest was one of the first bands to take what Black Sabbath and Deep Purple were doing in the 70's and cranked up the guitars, revved up the speed and hit the high notes that people didn't think was possible... K.K. Downing just brought what he was doing in Judas Priest w/ a new band K.K.'s Priest w/ a phenomenal vocalist Ripper Owens, and is giving us a few more years of this electric heavy metal music that he helped put on the stage.
Definitely gives me Judas Priest vibes!! This was a good one to listen and I loved it!! I think the horn your referring to I THINK is a foghorn. Amazing reaction as always ❤
Hi Rachael, seems like you’re becoming a proper rocker! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 Very reminiscent of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden et al! Liked it very much great sounds and vocals. Liked your description and analysis, interesting detail! 🌹
To give you a historic background to this song: the whole "dual attack" dynamic in JP seems to have been a toxic (and very childish) rivalry. This here is Downing's revenge on Tipton, who he rightfully claims stole his band (Downing founded JP and Tipton joined later). Downing left in 2011 due to the toxicity, but wanted to return a few years later - not only wasn't he allowed to, but there was a whole legal and media campain launched by JP against him. Tipton, now out with Parkinson's folloiwing decades of substnce abuse, speaks rarely, but when he does so it's with rage. E.g., in the 90s: "I spent a decade being angry after Rob (Halford) left. He robbed me of my best years." He said the same about Downing last year, "I spent a decade holding my guns when KK left, but I must fire away. KK is crazy and silly. Everyone knows that alcohol didn't affect my playing. Everyone knows who wrote all the music, and that's being kind. And everyone knows who played all the hard parts. I've done nothing but help KK. Even Iron Maiden wouldn't exist without me." Some typical lyrics of Tiptons's are: "The pacifist won't last, his view means nothing Shoot first, don't hesitate - if they lie, you lose, too late No monument to grace you as you leave this place The mercenary will act, the suckers stand and take it Initiate attack or one time you'll never make it Always assume the worst, you fight or bite the dirt Who needs a good excuse - just stick it where it hurts I ride the wall of death, I've never fallen yet Dog eat dog, don't think twice Kill or be killed, take my advice"
Hi, I recently got hooked on the band HIM, and so I decided to ask you to make a reaction to the song The Funeral Of Heart (a pretty legendary song). If you look at the comments, thank you.
Hi Rachel, can you react to Blinded in Chains from Avenged Sevenfold ? This song have not oficial video, but the video with lyrics is perfect, because the song have a massege and you have to read it. Greetings from Argentina, im study english so, srry for my bad writting probably😅
I love KK and the real Judas Priest. I haven't got to hear much of the KK's Priest stuff yet. Unfortunately this one has terrible production and mixing. Really can't even hear the vocals. Maybe it's just a youtube thing. I will have the check out the album though at some point. I'll give it a chance, even though I was never a fan of Ripper. He is a good singer, but just no match for Halford.
I am 56 years old. This song gives me the same charge I got listening to Judas Priest and Iron Maiden 40 years ago when I was 16.
keep in mind that kk is in his 70s.....still shredding it
Bad ass song and video! Killer band!
Wooooooooooooow I didn't even know that kk and the ripper formed a band. That's awesome 🤘 thanks Rachel
KK One of the best guitar players epic song
Great Band

You see the movie "Rock Star"?? The movie is inspired on Tim Ripper Owens, the lead singer and ex singer from Judas Priest! ;)
Go ahead and also hear KK'S PRIEST - Metal Meltdown 12.8.2023 Alcatraz

I definitely enjoyed watching them at Bloodstock this year.
Are you talking about a fog horn?
