    I worked in a major British army clothing store for a year and a half, and saw at least 2 of these virtus helmets come in broken a week. Luckily we had plenty to replace them, but obviously you guys don't have that luctury. The one piece of advice I can give is please don't hang the helmet from the chin strap, and instead use the D ring at the back of the helmet.

      Knowing that Russians are pushing into Ukraine like nothing, and that Ukraine is about to fall, same with Joe Bidens presidency - I would assume its the Western Elites that are preparing for what they do best, fuelling the war to a bigger level, as that is how money is made in the West, wars and proxy wars wagered on other countries, taking ownership of businesses in that country, as well as trillions of debt afterwars.
      In your place, I wouldn't be so scared of Russia or China, neither of them have got an interest in an all out war conflict, their stats are only going up, in the US and Western stats that are being hit by inflation, crime, drugs, pedophiles, and child traffickers - in your place, I would prepare for those things and would take care of your OWN country first, before going into another country 'being a hero'. British Army personal gear is usually spectacularly good now. Boots are fantastic, body armour, helmets all absolutely top end. Add in standard issue of PRR, lots of night vision etc etc and there are few militaries that have better gear over all. The L85A2 is actually a very decent rifle these days, and all frontline soldiers get exceptionally decent optics as standard which most militaries still don't do, but the UK has done for almost 40 years now.

    • @zaert21
      @zaert21 6 месяцев назад +3

      @@dogsnads5634 don't get me wrong - I second all of this. But it took us a painful while to get to that. The fact the A1 scarred the reputation of the L85 generally + we had to outsource the repair to HK. Iraq and afgan forced a lot of the change you describe. and prior to it got too many killed (eg unarmoured defenders, yes america had the same issue with humvees etc too) I will say though, SUSAT really was radical in terms of giving everyone optics and then improving from there over time etc. But hardly surprising given how the army favours accurate fire over volume.

    I'm issued a Ops Core FAST and while they're cool i'm honest here, i wouldn't want to go to war with it. First: UHMWPE sucks. Second: coverage. There is a picture of a guy with a M92 that catched shrapnel to the earpiece. I would've been dead with my FAST. We currently transition back to modern aramid full cuts.

    I prefer the high-cut, because I rely on hearing to such a great extent, and if anything blocks direction of sound, it is much harder to place where the sound is coming from.
    Now, I don't have to sit in a trench being shelled all day long, and it is pretty hard to hear with shellfire everywhere.

    I already know the answer: East German M56/76 Steel Helmet! It resisted a shot from 9x19, 9x18, .45ACP, 7.62x25 Tokarev, and .357 Magnum! So it's a good choice if you are on a budget. Here's the test: ruclips.net/video/hdqOhqSu7o0/видео.html. Romanian and Bulgarian are worth honorable mention here as they resisted up to Tokarev: ruclips.net/video/3-GlBCE6brw/видео.html ruclips.net/video/uKNiGWU3xoo/видео.html. These are good budget options and I am surprised we are not seeing pictures of these being used as the latest in ersatz Ratnik fashions for the armed forces of the Russian Federation! 😁😁 Although these weren't tested against 5.45x39mm threats, let's do some crude estimations! So Tokarev at 5 yards is maybe is 450 ft/lbs. 5.45x39mm energy at 250 yards ≈ 400 ft/lbs. So, I would recommend you keep your head down if you are closer than 250 yards to enemy!

      I forgot to mention. You can get those helmets in various sizes. Then, nest like matryoshka dolls! With 4 or 5 layers, 5.56 should not penetrate. This is not advice and I'm not responsible for tragic results
