Wonderful actor, wonderful novel, wonderful movie
and the best thing is, the story doesn't crumble in the end with a typical ... they lived happily ever after.
Amazing actor and a beautiful film!!
I have a notion to second that emotion ! Mr Hopkins is one of all time fave actors and this film has one of his BEST performances ! A wonderful film filled with powerful performances and great in every way !!
Absoloutely.
A work of movie perfection.
I'll say it again:
"Greatest film ever made."
@Cliff Hanley reservoir dogs first?
Agree!!!

Hate to break it to ya Jimmy..
Reservoir Dogs is a shameless rip off of a 1987 Hong Kong flick City on Fire.
There will be blood?
Easy there 😅 certainly your opinion and I accept it as your opinion 😆👍
Great book. Great film. Great acting. Great actors.
This film is tormenting but its also fascinating, Hopkins just masterful performance still his greatest role I think. There is hardly any man on earth who behaves the way Mr Stevens does.
no one else could have played that role as well as him
There's many men that behave the way Mr Stevens does, sadly. Because they feel they cannot be open about their emotions
Raiken Xion I bag to differ with your statement about man’s behavior... perhaps, nowadays, less men would appear to be as emotionless as Mr. Stevens is in the movie, yet this is arguable, nonetheless the times when Mr. Stevens was brought up were such that called for that type of mannerisms, especially in service you were not supposed to show your emotions while executing your duties. To become a “Butler” was a very hard task. Not a job for everybody to do!
Alfie Scrimshaw is very much like Stevens.
If you've seen this wonderful movie, please read the book. Almost exactly the same. That's rare.
One of a few of my most favourite films
I can almost hear Julie Andrews singing that comment.
My favorite film of all time
I love you, Anthony Hopkins, Stevens the "butler"
Hopkins got a chance to play a wide variety of roles and not just serial killer roles after Hannibal lector. Which is great for him because he's an excellent actor Shakespearean trained I think.
"I am busy in this room miss Kenton". Great actor, if I see he's in a particular film I will always watch it, because I know it will be good. He wouldn't be in a low budget crappy film.
Anthony Hopkins is a master of sub texext..
good to see that Tony is referring to Debra Winger here - because if you haven't already, please check out hers and Tony's performance in "Shadowlands" as well. both movies, "Shadowlands" and "Remains of the Day", are a must-have pick for your video library -- both duets would have well deserved an academy award in a leading role! phenomenal performances and good scripts!
Tony 😅
That's my favourite film ever
Great actor, good guy.
Nobody else could be Stevens. Such a wonderful performance.
Anthony's best role 🎭🎠
My favorite movie, 'always' with dryfus is close 2nd..
His this look and interview to keep exactly uptight.
lmao you can hear his accent is still there from the film
It's his normal accent.
Amazingly sexy in real life, you can see it here but Tony is too often shown in roles where he is not used to his best.
Brohuh? He’s sexy here ? Vivien…really ? I’ll have to take ur word for it
Hopkins talks about having worked with "miserable directors". I wonder who he is referring to...
to think he worked in film, HANNIBAL , very close in time to this
You can't have a member of the house of lords with a baseball cap on, that doesn't work at all.
the uh - BUTluh
Hopkins: you get a good script but a lousy director I say no.... years later makes shit like Blackway
Repressed, tight feelings.
Swedish girls are not uptight - just tight!
2:06 Emma Thompson…very sexy ?!?!
