Figure 8 is a basic yoyo trick that can be tricky to figure out. Once it is mastered, figure 8 is a great element for longer combos.

Dang been working on this for too long, finally got it down tonight. Thanks YoTricks, the part when you explain about the extra loop forming around the axle, really helped and the tip about keeping hands closer together as well. +Clay Hudson If you are already into unresponsive yo-yoing go for the Shutter pack, if you are not into unresponsive yo-yoing yet, go with the DV888 pack.

+superskater85 Both the Shutter and the Horizon are great options. Between the two we generally recommend getting the Shutter first because it is a more normal size, which may make it easier to get used to at first. That being said, if the Horizon really has features that draw you to it, I am confident you will love that yoyo as well.

I'm not sure but in the extended figure 8 the unwind of the extra 1.5 mount just doesn't return to that normal figure 8 reversed mount..... I'm just not getting it :(
I have a question I am a intermediate at yoyoing and I want to get in those longer tricks with a steady yoyo. I also want to start at grinding but I don't know what to get The Shutter or The Horizon. Can you help?

Escroto Plenty of people still use it, but I don't think I have seen it used in competition in a few years. For our part we would recommend the Sage Pro Pack or the Replay Pro over the Dark Magic for most players.

Absolutely. It is still a great yoyo. Most of my recommendations are not because it is not a good yoyo, but because there are less expensive options I think you would like just as much.

I really have no idea what is going on with the first revolution... whenever i roll it it either rejects, or if it doesn’t reject the yoyo ends up on the rest of the strings. Are you just getting the yoyo to rotate in a circle behind your hands??
I believe we address both of these problems in the video. Have you watched the entire thing?
yotricks yea I have... you address the rejection issue, but don’t really explain the motion of the circle that needs to be made. Feels like wrists are in the way, or I can’t make a complete rotation.
It is super awkward. The best I can describe it is to get your hands into position and then make sure that the yoyo rotates over both hands. It may help if you get a friend to move the yoyo for you while your hands stay static, that way you can figure out what is going wrong.
I want to get another yo yo but I want one that is under 30$ and has long sleeping time which one should I get ?
Dv888 it is responsive it sleeps long I think you have get this for $30 and if you want unresponsive just get a center trac and cbc slim pad

i put a half drop of lube in my kk bearing but like every 4 days it gets louder but it still stays unresponsive should i just wait until it gets responsive to lube it?
Mango Super If what you are doing is working then I would keep at it. Over time I am sure your bearing will settle in.

I recently consiered buying a a new yoyo because the previous one I had was just didnt fit my playstyle. I am a yoyoer that has just learned beginner tricks ( I have just learned the brain scrambler), and my two choices are the yyf dv888 responsive or the sage. Whih should I buy? If there are better choices, please tell me.
Rollinggolem In general I would recommend the Sage. It has more potential and it is less expensive. That being said, if you are really interested in having a metal yoyo the DV888 is the yoyo we would recommend for you.
For the price of the DV888 you can get the Sage yoyo pro pack (so you can upgrade your sage for more advanced / unresponsive play) along with thick lube which will keep the Sage working well before you upgrade it.

For responsive play, not much. For unresponsive, they sleep longer and often grind better than plastic.
Im a beginner but trying to be an intermediate. What yoyo would you recommend that has a long sleep time and under $30? And if possible unresponsive. Thanks!

The DV888 comes responsive, so I would not recommend that if you are looking to go unresponsive. If you can spend a bit more the Shutter is the best yoyo for the money, at $45.

+yotricks hey! I just got my fast 201 a couple of days ago and first out of the box it played amazingly. even though it said there is a lot of noise i didn't even mind it that much. Today I was playing with my yo yo and then it started making a lot of noise and the bearings started to spin not so well. My sleepers were also shorter. I can almost 100% guarantee all the noise is from the bearing. Not the starbursts. My dada says I'm not allowed to get yo yo lube. I do have some WD-40 if that would help???
Jeff Wang While I would not recommend using anything besides yoyo lube for other yoyos, the FAST 201 would not lose too much playability if you used a different kind of lubricant. You could try baby oil, trumpet oil, sewing machine oil... although we would not recommend WD-40 specifically.
yotricks Do you know if I could whip up some DIY lube or get something better than WD-40 or baby oil, trumpet oil etc. at a local super market (Walmart, Home Hardware, Canadian Tire)
Jeff Wang Yoyo lube is not a mixture of things, it is pure. Unfortunately, I don't know of any other lube that is made from the same stuff, so there is no good alternative I have found to replace yoyo lube. The reason for this, I think, is that yoyo lube is meant to protect the balls in the bearings while letting it spin completely free. In general, most lubes are more concerned with protecting, so they do not allow the same freedom of movement.

I want to get my first unresponsive yoyo, I've heard that the Velocity is good for beginners, but that the Shutter is also one of the best, Personally I want the Horizon most because of the grinds. Which one would you recommend? If it helps I've never had a metal yoyo before.

Patrick McMahon If you want an unresponsive yoyo then do not go for the Velocity, since that is a yoyo just to help with the transition to unresponsive play. The Shutter and Horizon are both excellent, and if you favor the Horizon there is no reason you should not go with that one.

There is technically no such thing as a yoyo glove, but other gloves have been used as "yoyo gloves" and sold that way. Some are actually pool (i.e. billiard) gloves - which none of us like - and some are micro-fiber winter gloves, which we may carry in the future. Where have you seen the black yoyo gloves you would want us to carry?
well almost every yoyo player in competition that wears gloves are black, personally i dont like how the white ones look. even jake elliott wears black gloves and i am wondering where he got them

Honest question...
If you have the ability to film from a first person point of view why dont you film from that view point when breaking the trick down in steps? Watching the trick in its entirety in slow mo is helpful but a FPV of the step by step breakdown would be 10 times more helpful.
Lots of people find it much more helpful to have the tricks broken down in steps instead of a first person view with no explanation.
