    Not all banjo songs have to be lightning fast. This was very soothing to listen to.

      I truly agree. I am an Appalachian Flatfooter, and in my humble opinion, I hear more genuine creativity in players when they're picking slower songs. You can do more percussivly as well

      If you include arpeggioed triplets, etc., clawhammering can be FASTER than 3-finger, and with just as much 'clarity''.

    Nailed it. This is the best version of this song I've heard. Wish there was an alternative guide for guitar players that sounded similar, but for sure would not sound as good.

    • @tgp4871
      @tgp4871  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you!! I personally went for pointer just because that was most natural for me. Many others feel more comfortable with their middle finger. @@tgp4871 thanks! I do have one more question. Does your finger ever hit the base of the banjo drum when striking on the highest string? • @tgp4871
      @tgp4871  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@kpdelaney6460 Yeah absolutely, I would say most players when playing on the drum will have some amount of drum noise coming through. With time you'll be able to dial it in more or less depending on the sound you want, but I really would not worry about that for now! In this video I play over the scoop, hence the absence of drum sounds, but for more challenging stuff I tend to play over the drum and then you can hear quite a bit of percussive noise coming through (like in this video, for example: ruclips.net/video/2N-Bn598igk/видео.html). I think it sounds kind of nice actually but I get what you mean, I had to warm up to it and didn't really like it in the beginning either :)
