    Dr. Mohsin Jaffer has specialized in the medical care of seniors in South Florida for nearly 30 years.     Born in Africa, Dr. Jaffer & his wife Fauzia grew up acutely aware of poverty and helplessness. Since 2001, the power couple has been solidifying their legacy around the world by way of the Mohsin and Fauzia Jaffer Foundation. Over the last 25 years, they’ve supported projects that uplifted humanity and improved the lives of people around the world. Each project has focused on the goal of empowering humanity in one way or another - from female economic upliftment in impoverished countries to helping Miami’s Homeless via Miami Rescue.     What causes neuro-chemical imbalance/depression/anxiety? - I may be incorrect, but I believe it is due to lack of a healthy diet (especially healthy fats found in nuts like Pecans, which look like a brain so must be good for the brain!, Walnuts, Eggs (which look like a nice sunny day, therefore must be good for the mood/general health!) etc. Another side of it is spiritual sickness which can cause depression and anxiety. Salaam.

      Just to add - when the mind and body is strong, we become more resilient to stress/depression/low mood. Diet and spiritual energetic balance is key. As already mentioned in my other comment, a healthy diet consisting of healthy fats (which are actually very good for the brain), Bach Flower essences and wearing a red or red-orange aqeeq ring will greatly help a person to become resilient to stressors. Taking modern medicine tablets with a several side effects isn't the ideal way of fixing the issue, it will only take focus away from truly healing oneself.

      There are other factors that cause people to struggle with depression and anxiety. It can be genetics or trauma or lack of self-care or coping skills (cognitive work, emotional regulation etc)

      Medications can only reduce some of symptoms. Any good doctor can tell you this. Building coping skills, healing from trauma instead of running away, daily self-care and spending time praying are the key for dealing with mental health symptoms.
