Definitely one of my favorite Taylor Swift songs. Bon Iver is an indie folk group from Eau Claire, WI. Justn Vernon is the founder and he is the singer and co-writer on this song.
Eau Claire WI isn't far from me, how did I not know this!?
@@DestructiveMediaYT I graduated from UW-Eau Claire (I won't say when) so I've always kept my ear on the music scene.
Justin ( Bon Iver) isn’t country. It’s beautiful Folk/Indie.
Hi Bryan. Until you started reacting to TS, I had only heard her popular songs that were played on the radio. I never really paid attention to the lyrics. Now I realize how deep her lyrics are and how much we can all relate to them. These songs evoke emotions without been sappy tearjerkers. She just may be one of the greatest songwriters of this generation. Thank you for reacting to her music.
Welcome to the rabbit hole of Taylor Swift.
Omg I love this comment! Thank you Bryan for welcoming a new swiftie ♥️♥️♥️
and that's the big problem with Taylor's music. So many of her radio singles that people hear, are just that, bubblegum pop. But us hardcore Swifties, know that her album deep cuts, show off her best song writing skills. @EVECrowley, welcome to our world!
Would recommend checking out evermore (for really deep lyrics) and also dont miss midnights that comes out October 21st
@@brucebrown3837 Blank Space is not bubble gum pop, Style is not bubble gum pop. Those two songs are one of the best written pop songs ever.
I don’t know why I’ve been so hooked on your Taylor Swift journey, but here we are.
I appreciate you watching!
I concur: the Long Pond version is more heart wrenching.
In my mind, "Exile" is what happened when the one being tolerated in "Tolerate It" finally has had enough and decided to just cut clean.
That's very interesting, I like that! Thank you for watching!
When this song came out I sobbed to it for a month and I wasn't even in love hahahaha
Bon Iver are a indie folk band, Justin Vernon is the lead singer, he's done collaborations with everyone from Taylor to Kayne.
Really talented guy
YOUR WIFE: You tuned out when I played you Tay! YOU: I....tuned...in....on....my....own.
it’s always been my theory that this is another song about the record label drama, disguised as a breakup song. it has quite a few lyrical parallels to my tears ricochet (“you’re not my homeland anymore” vs “i can go anywhere i want just not home”, etc.)
i think the line “i’m not your problem anymore so who am i offending now” is a really big indicator of this since taylor only started speaking up politically/publicly standing up for herself after leaving the old label. the concept of “you didn’t even hear me out/you never gave a warning sign/i gave so many signs” also makes a lot of sense in that context as well.
she has so many songs from the last 4 albums (reputation through evermore) that seem like surface-level relationship or breakup songs but when you dig a little deeper, seem like they could actually be about this same situation which is really cool imo.
Reading this made me re-listen to the song, I like this interpretation! The parallels are definitely there, typical Taylor, make the surface level meaning easy to digest for the average listener, make the real meaning deeper for Swifties!
Her boyfriend wrote it, so… nope, nothing to do with the industry
Although I have never experience anything like this still I just love every thing about this song emotions, lyrics and voice.
Hi Bryan, you got me tranced in a rabbit hole binge watching your reactions to Taylor’s music. So many swifties love watching reactions to see if anyone else has felt what we felt 😌. I wish I could be a fly on the wall hearing you tell your wife ‘wow! that was so good’ and her saying ‘I told you so!’ 😂😂
She does say that quite often. We are super excited for her new album!
The piano 🤌🎵
You should definitely react to the Speak Now album at some point, especially Dear John
Exile is amazing. Am a casual fan of Taylor and a huge fan of Bon Iver. I should thank Taylor especially for the long pond version coz I get to enjoy Justin Vernon's (Bon Iver front man) raw & heartfelt deep vocals. I went to Bon Iver concert right before the pandemic and it was a transcendent experience, I got so emotional & even had tears towards the end. Their live is out of this world! If you ever interested to check them out in your own time, I'd recommend Bon Iver full concert at NPR Music Front Row (available on YT).
Another gem of Taylor & Justin collaboration is 'Renegade' by Big Red Machine (another project of Justin Vernon outside of Bon Iver). Or Evermore, from Taylor's album. Cheers!
This song reminds me of my best friend who died before telling me he was in love with me for twenty years. I cried at a stoplight till someone took me out of my car and hugged me while I cried. Right there in the intersection.
So sorry for your loss.
If you get a chance you should watch TS performing this song (an acoustic version, solo…but the crowd comes in hot haha) at The Eras Tour a few weeks ago…thumbnail should be her in a red dress seated at a painted piano…might take a few tries to find one with good audio…but they’re out there. She absolutely kills it in the bridge, I think you’d appreciate it. Your wife, too!
So glad you're enjoying your Taylor Swift journey. I listened to her singles on the radio back in 2008 and I thought how strange that I liked them cause I never really liked Country music. I realized that I just connected to her lyrics and that's the reason I didn't care what genre it was. Then she switched to Pop and I've always liked pop music. What I found so interesting is that even though it was more repetitive than her country music, she was still able to tell stories and evoke a certain feeling or emotion with her lyrics and sound. Then she switched to Indie/Alternative and after listening for several years, it seemed like a natural progression for her lyricism. I no longer care what genre she's playing in, if it's written by Taylor Swift I'm going to listen to it; odds are, I'm going to like it.
I cry every time. EVERY TIME.
Never been THAT early for a video but I'm so glad I stumbled upon this while binging the rest of your taylor and harry content!
Awesome! Thank you so much for watching my videos!
The harmony. The lyrics. Freaking love everything about this song!!
My Taylor journey started with "Our song" mv. And I was like, O my god! A real life barbie 😍 ( Don't judge me, I was really young back then 😷)
Whenever someone dismisses TS when they haven’t really given her a chance, I always say “she can’t help it if she looks like a Barbie Doll” b/c I feel like they’re just rejecting her art b:c of the way she looks & the media narrative about her dating/ social life.
i became a swiftie with RED, i’ve never heard radio singles but i gave the opportunity to the actual record,i just heard the first melody/notes/rhythm in the opener state of grace and i loved so much, and there i started my journey with this blondie, thank you for reacting to her music!!! 🙌🏻
Straight male. I know it’s pretty typical but I became a fan (not a swiftie though) during reputation. I stopped near the release of lover (not for any specific reason) but just found out she released like 4 albums since then 💀 I don’t really have time to listen to them all so I don’t think I could become a fan again
Sameee... I became a swiftie with Red too and my first song was The moment I knew. And since then I can't spend a day without listening to at least one TS
@@David.124 who is a fan but not a swiftie lol
This is my favorite on Folklore… I’m a sucker for a duet 😍😭
Agreed. I love the call and response at the end. Also that end harmony gives me chill bumps everytime!
There is lyric videos for songs on Folklore, Evermore, re releases of Fearless & red
So happy you reacted to this! Definitely check out the long pond studio version! Bon Iver are an amazing indie folk band. They have a very popular song called ‘Skinny Love’. Holocene and re:stacks are my favourite of theirs!
i love your Taylor Swift journey so much can't wait for more 💜
my journey as swifties start in 2007 i only 5 years old but my uncle keep play her debut album so i fall in love with should've said no, pictures to burn and our song from that year till now im still her fans 🤷🏻
Taylor Swift= Music of Life; Ageless.... For the ones who has lived the Most !
TS We are Never Ever Getting Back together live from the 1989 tour. It’s a rock version of Taylor and she cleaned up!
We want more Taylor Swift! Already subscribed to your channel because of these TS contents! More power to your channel.
Thank you for subscribing!
I've really enjoyed your Taylor reactions! It's cool that you're willing to give all kinds of music a chance - genre doesn't matter when it's just good songwriting. I would love to see reactions to some of her older work. folklore and evermore are probably my favorite albums of hers, but she's always been a brilliant writer. I think you'd enjoy Haunted from Speak Now, her third studio album. It has a symphonic rock vibe to it.
you should listen to her song from evermore album 'coney island' it's good duet song 👍🏻
I suggest you react to Ronan (Taylor's Version) if you want to experience the big emotions. Its probably her saddest song and absolutely beautiful.
another oneeeee❤️ thanks for this
You should have done the long pond studio version instead!😇
Thanks for the review! Glad you enjoyed it. Skinny Love by Bon Iver would be a good listen.
Good reaction. Still think that you should react to dear John, tks
I love your reaction videos! I would love to see your reaction to the song Evermore. I listened to the lyrics recently and wow. Taylor’s writing really is amazing.
Evermore is on my list! I plan on doing all of Evermore, Folklore, Red and her new album coming out.
Hi! I've been going through all of you taylor reactions and I'm definitely subscribing!! I would love for you to react to her song "mad woman"!! It's a song that gets overlooked a lot and it's a shame because it's truly beautifully written and it touches on how women are perceived in society when they get talked town to and gaslit and they are then blamed and accused of overreacting for being mad. Just a really deep feeling that really resonated with me and most likely all of the women that listened to it too!
Anyways, keep doing what you do, you're great, just a suggestion!
Thank you for subscribing and for the suggestions!
Ivy next
My fav from folklore 😍
It's BONE EEVAIR not bon eyevur lol I did not know they collaborated. The second I saw them in the title I clicked SO FAST😂😭
Edit: HIGHLY recommend Holocene. All their songs are 🌟Chef's kiss🌟 but Holocene is my absolute favorite. Probably my favorite song of all time, period.
I'm a sucker for a song that has good story so this instantly become one of my favorite songs.
Bryan, can you please react next to champaign problems by Taylor Swift. Pleaseeeeee
Watch and react to miss americana
Hi Bryan!! This is one the best Taylor's songs. Since you liked this version, I would like to suggest you to listen to the Long Pond Sessions version
I did do a reaction to this song at the Long Pond Sessions!
@@DestructiveMediaYT I'm gonna look for it to watch it in my lunch break
@@DestructiveMediaYT thanks a lot
I love your Taylor reactions. Are you going to be reacting to her new album?
For sure!
Still haven’t seen Harry Styles “Boyfriends”… on The First Take!!! Makes me cry every time! Pleeeeease! I’ll be checking in 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you for the suggestion!
Hey Brian!!! Love your reactions, especially how you focus on both lyrics & music! Would love if you could react to ' Bigger than Me' by Louis Tomlinson 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Pleaaaaaaase listen to the long pond version! It’s stunning
I left out the side door-
By the way, what metal bands do you listen to? Which are your favorites?
I love Mudvayne, Korn, Tool, Avatar, Stone Sour, A Perfect Circle, System of A Down, Dry Kill Logic, American Head Charge, Mushroomhead, Disturbed, Sevendust & many more.
If the Metal/Rock band is from 1990 to 2010 I probably like them.
Oh wow, from everything you've listed, I've heard only System Of A Down and Disturbed. And I listen to newer bands like STARSET, Hollywood Undead, Ice Nine Kills, Bring Me The Horizon, Bad Omens, Badflower, Three Days Grace, Citizen Soldier and many others 😅
And I used to hate metal and I used to think that it all was death / black metal screaming guys with long hair and beards, wearing all black leather clothes and doing the headbanging. And I never listened to it until 2 years ago when my boyfriend introduced me to his favorite bands. Since then I've been obsessed with the genre (except for thrash, death, black metal and all those subgenres). And I also listen to some '80s rock like Dokkens and Def Leppard, but I'm new to it.
Wow my response got too long 😬😂
I loved Three Days Grace when Adam Gontier was the lead singer, not that I don't like the new one, I just kinda stopped listening when they broke up for a bit.
I understand, it must be difficult to listen to a band that you love and then seeing them break up or change members, then it's not the same anymore. Also, I checked out a few of the bands you mentioned, and for now I like Tool a little 😅
