A lot of people bitched about GD no longer being punk when American Idiot came out, but the fact is that they merely switched to a different style of punk. They went from a late 80's lookout records-influenced ramonescore melodic punk to a heavily Clash-influenced politically charged punk. It's still punk though, and even if it wasn't, who cares. It still sounds good.

American Idiot was their last good album sure 21st Century Breakdown has some good songs like Know Your Enemy but nothing even close to this or Holiday
My favorite albums are... really every one, but Dookie and Warning (Kerplunk is right there too). Then 21st Century Breakdown came out and I love that too. Three really different sounds from the same band and all amazing. Unlike a lot of bands I listen to there is literally no Green Day song I don't like. Amazing band and my favorite.

I didn't like 21CB that much because it has too much strings for me and it feels like too forced and unnatural.
I didn't like 21st CB. I mean, I liked American Idiot and I've only been a fan since 2012 (don't judge, I've listened to all of their albums already), and I prefer old stuff over 21st CB. I didn't like its sound, mainly because it has too much piano and shit. I prefer only guitar, bass and drums for songs, maybe one exception like they did with King for a Day or Good Riddance. Only track in 21st CB that I really feel comfortable with piano in is Viva la Gloria (Little Girl). I still prefer 1039.
