    This is going to sound crazy, but this video actually changed my life.
    Shooting has always been a weak point of mine, and the mental blocker I had was excruciatingly frustrating. It hurt a lot of my mental ability outside of basketball, because I often felt that mental block was permanent. I would do all of these very little micro fixes, that would work for a short bit, but then fail shortly after. Hundreds of videos of shot form, tons of practice, etc. But my missed shots were all mental.
    But ever since I watch this video, and really focused on this mindset, my shooting has gone up considerably. I actually can’t believe how much better it is.
    I want to add one note that might help some people as well, try to find a visual stimuli that you could focus on the basketball hoop that will distract your mind from these overly positive or overly negative thoughts. For me (and Steph Curry apparently) that was looking at where the hooks of the rim and the net meet. By the time your eyes lock onto that small point of the rim, and you shoot the ball, you don’t have any chance to overthink things. That, in combination with this advice on and off the court, really helped.
    Secondly, try to just take this advice only and don’t change a single thing about your form or anything else. For those you truly struggling with this mental block, sometimes you need to put all your efforts towards that and stop worrying about the physical mechanics.

      Thank you for the tip. It's so true that all too often, a slump is simply a slump, and does not require people to change their shots - Simon, Team DeepGame

    • @DeepGameBasketball
      @DeepGameBasketball  8 месяцев назад

      Hey Elvis, assuming your handles are decent, it's not fear that's killing your handles, it's thoughts about the fear. Remember that most players get nervous before and sometimes during games. If you just allow that to happen, you'll notice it doesn't actually affect your handles, unless you constantly think that it does. But again, if you need to improve on your handles, then of course work more on your handles. Otherwise, of course you won't be confident in them - Simon, Team DeepGame
