  • Update 8/15/2017: I've received a lot of negativity for this video and I appreciate all the feedback. I had only just learned how to fish when I made this. This was just a lazy afternoon on the dock with the supplies I had just to have some fun. Don't take it too seriously! Thanks for watching!
    In this video, I go over my easy way of bass fishing with live bait. I use primarily bluegill but on this day, the wild shiners decided to show up. Hope you learn something and fish on!

    So many fishing professionals in the comment section. People always have negative comments and try to take the fun out of everything. Can't enjoy anything without someone criticizing. Enjoyed the video. Looked fun. I have a blast catching anything the bites the hook, haha.

      Lol, yeah I agree, but it's all good. I don't think they realized that I'm not out there trying to guide or charter someone where I need a bucket of bait. I'm just chilling on my dock with one rod and catch one fish at a time and throw it out and wait. It's just good ol' fashioned fun and relaxing. Thanks for the input and tight lines!

    Tough bluegill fishing if you have to chum to get them! But, with all of the dock access around that lake I bet they get a lot of pressure - I've experienced tough 'gill fishing in other public places, like camp grounds; they get educated. If they take shiners that large then bluefish/saltwater plugs might work.

  • @buddysmith1015
    @buddysmith1015 6 лет назад +1

    I use bread to get them feeding, then take a can of chilled biscuit dough and just mash a little around the hook. Usually shiners, a better bass bait in my opinion, hang out in closed corners of most lakes

    Nobody’s saying don’t fish but the problem with live bait fishing for bass there’s a right way which isn’t gut hooking , a lot of bass die because of this , for this type of fishing a reel like a ambassador 6500 or better because it needs to be a quick fight to ensure that the fish is caught and released Quickly.

    I know you don't mean any harm but you shouldn't fish will bluegill too often. When you use live bait in an area too often, the bass smarten up and it becomes a challenge to catch them even on live bait, and next to impossible when using lures. Just a piece of advice

  • @oldbaldfatman2766
    @oldbaldfatman2766 6 лет назад +3

    Sept. 4, 2018---I've already seen a couple of video's of people using bread and dry dog food, but don't understand why you're wasting time in trying to catch ONE bluegill when with a casting net, you should have a dozen or more in one attempt. Thanks for the video.

    • @SwampazzFishing
      @SwampazzFishing  6 лет назад +1

      I understand completely but I wanted to show people how to just throw one line out off a dock if you're just having fun. If you continue to feed the bluegills/shiners in one location, they will always be there. So, if you are fishing from a dock all the time, you basically have a continuous supply of fresh bait fish right below you. If I were going out on a boat with multiple lines, I would definitely catch multiple and take them with me. One last thing, I've used cast nets in my lake, and like most lakes in Florida, it is PACKED with underwater weeds/hydrilla/muck. After one throw of the net, it's all gunked up and it's a pain in the butt trying to clean that crap off, so I just stick to using a brim rod, lol. Thanks for watching!

  • @just_js_lawnscape
    @just_js_lawnscape 6 лет назад +5

    where im from you just need a worm and they swarm on that.... no need for cat/dog food or bread... just good ol fashion worm and in about 2 seconds u r hooked up

    • @SwampazzFishing
      @SwampazzFishing  6 лет назад +1

      You are absolutely correct! They will destroy a small worm on a small hook. I just use pond food or cat food or bread just to keep feeding them and keep them around my dock. The schools get very large if they are conditioned to know there is food there. Makes it easier/faster to just nab one up if the numbers are greater.

      Fishing with big live bait you'd better set the hook hard. The hook basically has to tear out of the bait to get a bite in a bass' mouth. Big shiners are the ultimate big bass bait. I caught and sold them commercially and caught a lot of really big bass on them as well in central Florida in the 70's and 80's.

      Yessir, in the state of Florida, it is legal to use them as bait. I know it is illegal to use them in other states, but not in Florida.
