I just made the switch from Kindle to a Kobo Libra 2. The primary reason is because both my Kindles stopped syncing with Caliber. I purchase eBooks from other sources than Kindle. I also create my own ebooks from my writing so I can read them easily whenever I want. I just want to collect them one device. When I called Amazon technical support, they suggested I convert the ebooks to PDF and then email the materials to my Amazon account where they would then be applied to my account. Not an option for my personal writing.
I also love love love borrowing ebooks using overdrive on Kobo. So far I am loving my Libra 2 and now I’m eyeing the Kobo Sage, too.

FYI Nowadays the Kindle supports epubs, including conversion via their email service.

Can anyone tell me can I put the kindle app on the sage? I read on my phone through the kindle app is there a way I could do this on the kobo sage? It's very confusing.

Kobos also integrate with Overdrive. So you can borrow library books directly on the device as easily as buying a book from the Kobo store (as long as your library uses Overdrive).

GREAT POINT! I wish I had mentioned that on the show... I do borrow tons of books from my library digitally and can read them on the kindle as well. It's just a process and you need to be at the computer first etc. With overdrive they just show up. Thanks for watching and your comment :) .

@@weeklywasteoftime4650 You don't need the computer to use overdrive for kobo as compared to kindle you can actually use the overdrive function straight from the kobo device itself. But the books you borrow from Overdrive are also in the kobo store for this method to work. But its just a matter connecting from your library or signing in your overdrive account.

If you check out a book with the Libby app, you can read the book in the Kobo app which syncs with your eReader. (This according to Reddit, but I believe I have personally done this in the past as well!). CHEERS and thanks for the message!

Kind of surprised you didn't mention your experience with battery life. As with listening to audio books it was almost less than one day. Also when using the pen for writing, battery was pretty much gone as well. Maybe I got a bad one, but Lobo wanted my credit card info to charge me for a replacement, and keep the charge active until they got the 1st one again. Then reimburse me, nonsense I say.

I don’t actually see the point of using audio books on e-readers . I currently own kobo libra 2, have to be honest that i don’t even use audio books once. Because i have a phone. It’s much convenient to use audio books on smartphone. E-readers i think it’s the best just for reading. And also why people are so picky about battery life, we are living in the modern world, fast charging doesn’t take too long. 30 mins of charging you have about 50% battery enough for hours.

I Love ❤️ the Sage and the Libra 2. Yes, I purchased both because I might try the sage for note taking, eventually. They are beautiful and have so much more to offer than my static Oasis.
So, yesterday someone on our Ebay was selling a Libra 2, new, unused, originally packed. I made him an offer below his listed price and he accepted. In the meantime I had only 1 day to return mine to Amazon, which I did on the same day I sent the seller a PayPal payment. So now I’m getting it tomorrow and am feeling $30:00 better in the difference between the two. I might splurge it on a pen. Might……

The Sage looks great. Does it have a two-page-at-a-time view in landscape mode option? I'd love for that to be a feature on a 9 or 10 inch screen version: perhaps the "Kobo Sage Max", or "Kobo Sagacious" :-). The screen on the Sage is supposed to be more advanced than that on the Paperwhite, despite being the same 300 dpi, right? Do you notice an improvement? Does it refresh faster?

Hello! The screen is REALLY NICE. I would say it's on par with the paperwhite. Amazon's devices have very short and clear text and this is the 1st Kobo I've owned that visually seemed close. You can tell it how often you want it to refresh and I couldn't get it to do 2-at-a-time in landscape. Hope this helps!

Kobo has built-in support for e-book formats available in my Balkan country, plus additional dictionaries can be added to it without any hassle. I worship my new Kindle Paperwhite, but would rather have the new Sage. Not to mention the 8 inch screen is so much better for manga than a 6.8 inch one.

Since you live in a Balkan country, perhaps you can tell me whether kobo has a russian dictionary or if one can easily be installed? I know that Russia is not in the Balkan, but well... some languages use the cyrillic alphabet in the Balkans so you might have looked into the matter :)

All the channels omitting the sage's (out of the box) horrid battery performance can go straight into the garbage bin.
Yes it can somewhat resolved but its making the consumer jump through hoops for a 300$ product

I think Kindle Oasis is much better and the OS is much user-friendly. The Sage is slow and lots of bugs. Even putting my own Epub books in there not working well. It is an expensive machine that does not deliver value. Buyers must do enough homework before buying it. It is over-rated.

Same thing with me. One Kobo Forma got screen problem, not working. Kobo Aura One is very sluggish, and not durable. I regret buying Kobo Sage. It is half-baked and expensive. Totally not value the price. Do enough home first and check carefully before buying is important.
