5YL Ultimate spidermonkey/Buggaboon is so creative. Possibly my favorite design of all of O.R.Ash's ultimates. I love the idea of if you look at him from behind you see a giant tarantula instead of a Large Monke
Definately an upgrade. I mean I never disliked Ultimate Spidermonkey because it was a logical evolution with spider legs on a gorilla makes sense to me. Ash's version is just even better to me.

When making Ultimate Rath Ash said his retractable claws could now be shot out with a rope attached like a harpoon, and that he’d use this to slingshot himself towards his enemies the same way WWE wrestlers slingshot themselves by backing into the ropes on the ring. I love this because it’s both a natural extension of his retractable claws and plays perfectly into Rath’s personality. It’s a minor change and a major change at the same time.

I recommend watching the videos they come from. He explains how he came up with the designs. There's also the rules to his designs: the color scheme must be different, and for the newfound powers there must also come a trade off. The joke is often times the trade off is him cutting off their legs lmao. Otherwise it's probably one of their abilities

Personally, I love Ultimate Waybig, he’s a planet sized beast, which is honestly perfect, and they made him actually look cooler than his original, sure, it’s a simple design, but little added details really made it my top favorite
2:49 their ultimate Wildmutt was so freaking cool to me. I like how it sort of had a natural progression as a creature where it was this sort of ape intelligence carnivore that went from a pursuit predator, like a bear, to a stalker, like a puma. The smoke screen ability combined with the teeth and beard reminded me of an Asian dragon mixed with a 9 tailed fox. Peak creature design.

Judging by Ultimate Frankenstrike's big arm texture I'd say that he's able to control corrodium, which is a great upgrade for any Anur System alien really (except Snare'oh's species which already can). Also, I think the Four Arms looking Ditto is actually two Dittos mixed together, you can see it has double of all the features of the design, even the Omnitrix.
The reason that the Ultimate Diamondhead looks like that is O.R. Ash believes that a real Ultimate Diamondhead would just be Chromastone. But he made this to just have one.

Ultimate Rath’s name may Very well be a name to Hos Del Gado from the grim adventures of Billy and Mandy. Considering Ultimate Amp phibian was based on that “Brains,” song. As an aside, might be worth doing a short for the 4 non Ben ultimates he did. Sure 3 of them were just Agregor, but they’re pretty fun designs.
My favorite 5yl redesign would have to be Ultimate Feedback aka Powerline. To see Feedback actually being able to store not only his own energy but have more plug tendrils and being able to absorb photons from the air is cool. Like I can see this Ultimate Feedback not only being able to absorb the big bang with more ease compared to his regular counterpart but also be able to absorb a multiversal version of that big bang. This Ultimate design and new powers make me totally get why Ben loved his regular counterpart so much in fact Imagine the grin on 11 year old Ben’s face if he ever saw Ultimate Feedback. I also I would love to see this Ultimate Feedback animated someday even though I know he would be a nightmare to animate
9:55 I personally would have liked if Ultimate Ghost Freak’s powers basically let him use technology as a way to fast travel or make pocket dimensions, control machines, and be more reminiscent of the ghosts from Poltergeist and the Tall-Man from Little Nightmares 2. He would basically loose his possession and phase shifting powers while being immune to the Sun because of that. Just showcase that he would embrace light sources as a way to create fear from that instead of just shadow.
It’s funny you say that some design aspects of the canon Ultimate Greymatter made it into the Ink Tank’s version, despite the fact that they admit they literally completely forgot Ultimate Albedo exists and their design had literally no influence on their version
25:15 I like how they took one of Brainstorm’s most well documented traits and just ripped that out to turn him into a tank 😂. The existence of two is also a neat idea as an implication that the left group continued to favor intelligence and technology while the right one was sort of breed into a fighter class of the two with less intelligence but more power.
I know you're not talking about the powers, but it is worth pointing out, one of the powers that the Ultimate Goop gets is to harden parts of his body at will, which is why the texture may look off

@@OlliepopVT I definitely get that, and I'm not trying to discount your opinion, but I would also argue there are a lot of Cannon Alien designs that I think only really work when you already know the power set. I mean, let's be honest, if you didn't know that Cannonbolt could curl up into a ball, would his design really work. and would you be able to guess that power just from the design alone? Even if its yes for Cannonbolt, I'd still argue designs like Eatle, Loadstar, and Brainstorm fall into similar categories
33:43 he does look like a pirate but I just noticed the mouth looks like the 3 holes on regular NRG's suit's head and I like that detail. I have watched the video where that ultimate was created and I believe he can change his hands to anything not just hooks since the metal is melted, wish it was drawn with one hammer hand or something. You used the wrong versions of Ultimate XLR8 (feather foot), Ultimate Grey Matter, and Ultimate Humungousaur, the ones you have on screen are the Albedo re-colors they made for each ultimate.

I feel like knowing their powersets may have been worth it in order to tell how their bodies move or even change appearance when they use them ( Wildmutt and CannonBolt still a W lol)

If I could figure out the powers on my own, that meant the design managed to pull off something that's very difficult to do with art. That's why I chose not to know the powers. I know they'll never do an Ultimate Alien X, but I personally have an idea for one. Instead of a general power tradeoff, I'd give it a new ability, which takes inspiration from the main antagonist's Stand from Jojolion, that being Wonder of U. Wonder of U's most prominent ability is to detect the flow of Calamity and can manipulate it at will. This effective makes him more invincible than he is normally, as anyone who tries to attack him will get a massive case of Calamity going full force onto them. And for a weakness, it would also take inspiration from Wonder of U's weakness, that being nothing. More accurately, an attack that does nothing or an attack that has nothing in it. You see, Wonder of U can only defend against attacks that hurt him, so if he gets hit with an attack that does nothing, it hurts him. It's an attack that shouldn't exist, much like the main protagonist of Jojoloin, Josuke "Gappy Higashikata. Spoilers for the manga, but Part 8's Josuke Higashikata is the result of a fusion between Josefumi Kujo and Part 8's version of Yoshikage Kira (who thankfully isn't a murderer obsessed with the severed hands of women, thank Christ). He shouldn't exist, yet he does, so he can create attacks that also shouldn't exist, yet they do. The idea of this weakness is the idea of an anomaly fighting an anomaly. Ultmate Alien X just shouldn't exist, as Alien X is already the peak of everything. Yet it is brought to existence due to the Ultimatrix. So the only person who could hurt him would be Professor Paradox, as he's a being that shouldn't exist, yet he does, much like this hypothetical Ultimate Alien X. Sorry for the long comment, I just had this idea rattling about in my head for a while.
Personally, I feel like there’s a tricky balance to find when creating Ultimates. I don’t like when Ultimates go TOO far from their source, but I also don’t care for Ultimates that are functionally the same because... What’s even really the point in that case? Ultimate Four Arms is a prime example of how to do it right, in my opinion.
I honestly like the Ink tank ultimates, it was fun to watch them draw and explain the changes from the original, the change in power sets, and make new ones since I wanted more, sure they aren’t perfect but I like and have fun with them 🤩🥰
I love the Big chill design fixes the main problem from the original one that was that it made it have extremely flashy colours that completely gets rid of the whole ghostly horror aspect. Especially when the hot wheels like design for me at least just doesn't make sense for a Necrofriggian. The redesign ultimate really goes for Big chills strengths and makes it very creepy and ghostly, the cloak wings with offspring hiding inside it with only seeing glowing eerie eyes reminds me sorta how vampires can spawn a swarm of bats is such a *cool* idea. If I also remember this ultimate can emit like a fog too so that only adds even more to it. Another favourite is that toepick ultimate design, I guess I really like the creepy horror designs.
I am curious if some of your opinions of the ultimates or even the redesigns would improve if you knew the powers, or the reasons behind the design. I agree that a good design can and should stand on its own, but context never hurts to help, you know?
I don't know if you already know this but most of the aliens that got ultimate farms were inspired by different things Like how you said ultimate fourarms remind you of muscular from mha. O.R. Ash says in the video for his drawing matrix miniseries that that's where he took the inspiration 😄
I would say alien x or spitter Stinkfly got alot of screentime in the og series and fastrack isnt that loved by fans. Spitter was in such a small amount of episodes so he makes the most sense here. Just to get on your nerves tho ill add an option and say Gutrot😅.
Great video overall, however I do have some constructive criticisms I'd like to suggest. First is the audio, it was just a bit quiet. Of course it didn't impact me too much since I just turned up my volume, but it was worth pointing out. And secondly, I would recommend having text to highlight the names of each design, or simply make each one bigger when you say their names. Eg. "And here we have *design A*" while design A grows and design B shrinks. Alternatively design B could get darker, highlighting design A. And of course vice versa. Most of the time it was easy enough to tell the difference, but occasionally it felt like the names could've applied to multiple designs which made it a bit difficult to identify which one you were actually talking about. Great video though, and keep up the great work.
I have an idea for an ultimate Snare-oh where he has a crown made of Corrodium and a hive of insects that feed off the radiation living inside his body,which he can command at will.

The ultimate Ditto is a reference to that scene with Nami during her fight with Kalifa i think. Could be wrong but I recognise that posing- nice little detail.
I was REALLY hoping Brainstorm was gonna be an option on the question so bad lmao but I'm gonna have to go with Fasttrack, specifically in Omniverse because Derrick's design for Fasttrack is what made me love the alien possibly more than XLR8. I'd have loved to have seen it used even in just one scene. As for which one you'd pick? I have no idea this time around honestly GJGJDSDJS so I'm gonna guess and say Fasttrack as well!
with these type of videos i think it would be worth while to put some text of the names of them beside the images, especially when there's multiple variants of the ultimates on screen. i find myself getting a little confused what one is which
I feel like some of these design's suffer from Ash's rule of changing the alien's color pallete. Some would have benefited from keeping a similar color scheme to the originals
Fun facts I remembered from the Episodes: Ultimate Four Arms IS inspired by Muscular, thats why one of his Arms is "flesh-morphing", which is his Power The first Ultimate Upchuck design is indeed inspired by a waterbear xD All designs from ultimate Ditto are the same Alien, as they can now change the structure of their Clones Ultimate Eye guy is also inspired by those weird squish toys Ultimate Way Big is the Size of a Planet, being able to shrink and grow due to him being made of cosmic-storm-mass-Stuff. Ultimate Jetray is also huge because of "deep-space-gigantism" Ultimate NRGs evolution iron-y is because his suit melted into his body Ultimate Ampfibian is indeed inspired by Voltaires Song "Brains", which he sung in a Billy & Mandy episode with the same name! Ultimate Water Hazard can split into 3 seperate Crabs! His Head, Torso and lower Body!
For Ultimate four arms,the "flesh morphing" is actually inspired by Kevin's transformation of four arms that gave him the ability to grow/generate new limbs Ult. Four arms has both muscle stacking and can grow more arms if needed

I explained in the video that I think a design is most impressive when it can convey the powers purely through its visuals, so it would detract from the designs if I knew the powers.

I know they'll never do an Ultimate Alien X, but I personally have an idea for one. Instead of a general power tradeoff, I'd give it a new ability, which takes inspiration from the main antagonist's Stand from Jojolion, that being Wonder of U. Wonder of U's most prominent ability is to detect the flow of Calamity and can manipulate it at will. This effective makes him more invincible than he is normally, as anyone who tries to attack him will get a massive case of Calamity going full force onto them.
And for a weakness, it would also take inspiration from Wonder of U's weakness, that being nothing. More accurately, an attack that does nothing or an attack that has nothing in it. You see, Wonder of U can only defend against attacks that hurt him, so if he gets hit with an attack that does nothing, it hurts him. It's an attack that shouldn't exist, much like the main protagonist of Jojoloin, Josuke "Gappy Higashikata. Spoilers for the manga, but Part 8's Josuke Higashikata is the result of a fusion between Josefumi Kujo and Part 8's version of Yoshikage Kira (who thankfully isn't a murderer obsessed with the severed hands of women, thank Christ). He shouldn't exist, yet he does, so he can create attacks that also shouldn't exist, yet they do. The idea of this weakness is the idea of an anomaly fighting an anomaly. Ultmate Alien X just shouldn't exist, as Alien X is already the peak of everything. Yet it is brought to existence due to the Ultimatrix. So the only person who could hurt him would be Professor Paradox, as he's a being that shouldn't exist, yet he does, much like this hypothetical Ultimate Alien X.
Sorry for the long comment, I just had this idea rattling about in my head for a while.

Personally, I feel like there’s a tricky balance to find when creating Ultimates. I don’t like when Ultimates go TOO far from their source, but I also don’t care for Ultimates that are functionally the same because... What’s even really the point in that case? Ultimate Four Arms is a prime example of how to do it right, in my opinion.

I honestly like the Ink tank ultimates, it was fun to watch them draw and explain the changes from the original, the change in power sets, and make new ones since I wanted more, sure they aren’t perfect but I like and have fun with them 🤩🥰

I love the Big chill design fixes the main problem from the original one that was that it made it have extremely flashy colours that completely gets rid of the whole ghostly horror aspect. Especially when the hot wheels like design for me at least just doesn't make sense for a Necrofriggian.
The redesign ultimate really goes for Big chills strengths and makes it very creepy and ghostly, the cloak wings with offspring hiding inside it with only seeing glowing eerie eyes reminds me sorta how vampires can spawn a swarm of bats is such a *cool* idea. If I also remember this ultimate can emit like a fog too so that only adds even more to it.
Another favourite is that toepick ultimate design, I guess I really like the creepy horror designs.

I am curious if some of your opinions of the ultimates or even the redesigns would improve if you knew the powers, or the reasons behind the design. I agree that a good design can and should stand on its own, but context never hurts to help, you know?
I don't know if you already know this but most of the aliens that got ultimate farms were inspired by different things
Like how you said ultimate fourarms remind you of muscular from mha. O.R. Ash says in the video for his drawing matrix miniseries that that's where he took the inspiration 😄

Stinkfly got alot of screentime in the og series and fastrack isnt that loved by fans.
Spitter was in such a small amount of episodes so he makes the most sense here.

Great video overall, however I do have some constructive criticisms I'd like to suggest.
First is the audio, it was just a bit quiet. Of course it didn't impact me too much since I just turned up my volume, but it was worth pointing out.
And secondly, I would recommend having text to highlight the names of each design, or simply make each one bigger when you say their names. Eg. "And here we have *design A*" while design A grows and design B shrinks. Alternatively design B could get darker, highlighting design A. And of course vice versa. Most of the time it was easy enough to tell the difference, but occasionally it felt like the names could've applied to multiple designs which made it a bit difficult to identify which one you were actually talking about.
Great video though, and keep up the great work.

I was REALLY hoping Brainstorm was gonna be an option on the question so bad lmao but I'm gonna have to go with Fasttrack, specifically in Omniverse because Derrick's design for Fasttrack is what made me love the alien possibly more than XLR8. Fusion Matrix (the ultimate alien designs) are very explositally non-canon to the 5YL

I feel like some of these design's suffer from Ash's rule of changing the alien's color pallete. Some would have benefited from keeping a similar color scheme to the originals
