Those things on Way Bigs cheeks in the classic series have actually been stated to be an extra pair of eyes that are constantly looking down so way big can see what he's stepping on which is actually quite useful given how big he is.
To me the designs throughout the Ben 10 series were cool which is my opinion (the Ben 10 reboot were pretty good)
I love how Ben's Omniverse design blends elements from both his original series and AUF, bringing back the striped shirt and pants from the former while incorporating the green and black colours and 10 symbol from the latter.
Not only Ben but the majority of the aliens as well!
@@Lvortex64 Yeah, though I think they overdid the incorporation of green into the designs a little bit with some transformations, mainly with aliens like Chromastone where it doesn't contrast well with the dark blue body and pink crystals.

Both Ben and Kevin got the best designs in OV, taking their two main designs from OG and UAF respectively and fusing them together. I only wish Kevin got an alternate outfit like Ben did with his hoodie.
Every alien in omniverse is pretty good then there's the omniverse big chill
I really love the idea of Swampfire having a bloosomed form, but the desing is kinda eeh, maybe if he wasn't so bright green.
Yeah the bright colour is definitely the worst part about it
I liked his Blossom form too and I had no problem with it either. But I will agree that the color needs to be toned down a little.
My favorite part of Swampfire’s design was always the black face with the mouth that you can’t see unless it’s open.
But yeah, honestly, if the green was darker, I think it would look pretty cool.
Wasn't vintage iron fist a huge inspiration for the updated design? I personally found it neat

I almost never like the "nostalgic" reason, for judging which is better, unless it's a consistent branding thing.
Ditto, Eatle, and definitively Shocksquatch are the closest.

Honestly super agree on the Gwen part. Her best design was her omniverse flashback look when she left ben for college. But the rest of the omniverse with glasses and the weird look just didn't look right
Gwen looks like a bootleg Velma in Omniverse, they should've stick with her flashback design.

As someone who liked Omniverse's art style (as it has the same art director as Mystery Inc and Teen Titans '03), I find it underrated and underloved.
What it did to Big Chill tho was still inexcusable, but yeah
@@pkmist2164 The buffer look could have worked, since he's supposed to survive the harsh environment of space and eat metal, but the hunch ruined it, and the way he alternates his wings between hood and wing was also a bit off to me

I like how later in omniverse, after Ben met other aperplexians, rath got clothes, after realising he was running around naked since aperplexians wear clothes
I still think they should have used albedo ultimate rath outfit it would have made him look like a "grown up" version

ov's biggest problem was usually overdesign. when it followed a "less is more" approach, it usually did a pretty good job.

UAF’s problem is the opposite
It looks awful all of the time, there are barely any details and everything looks generic
I actually always really liked Waybig's cheek things. In the original series, they were supposed to be another set of eyes. And personally, that always made sense just bc of how tall he is, he'd need a better field of view so he can see where he's stepping. Notice he never really acts too clumsy with Waybig until after he loses those second pair of eyes
Make Sense. They were facing down. So they can see the ground well without haunting

With that said, Omniverse is my favorite. It's a nice balance between the two- with characteristics of both the original and UAF.
If Omniverse Upgrade had the Omnitrix in his chest rather than his eye, he'd 100% be the best design in my opinion.

I think it was a good idea for experimentation, and it was a good thing to see, but yeah, it would have looked better with the symbol where it originally was.
Actually, fun fact, the reason why Ditto acts a lot more like a classic goofy looney tunes style character is actually because I believe both his Classic and Omniverse versions are voiced by the same person who voices Wakko Warner
As well as that, the “two things” on Waybig’s cheeks are actually supposed to be two extra eyes that allow him to look at everything below him without needing to bend down to do so
Actually it’s Yakko Warner, not Wakko. Rob Paulson, who voices Ditto, voices Yakko while Jess Harnell voices Wakko
I like both Ditto designs, and I prefer Waybigs classic design.

Lik there's a difference between inspired, og way big was that, UAF ultraman felt straight ripping off with the introduction of the cosmic beam and redesign

The cosmic beam was the only positive takeaway from the UAF design as it expanded his power set to more than just "BIG MAN STRONG", despite the fact that its also very on the nose

7:29 The thing I really like about Goops redesign is that the Omnitrix was moved from his goo body onto the gravity projector eliminating the weakness that Ben used to defeat Vilgax that one time he actually got the Omnitrix it shows a good attention to detail

Actually, Goop doesn't have that pathetic weakness of removing the watch from his body, the reason why Ben was able to remove it is because Vilgax wasn't exactly wearing the watch
@ᴠɪꜱʜᴀʟ / ᴀᴅʜɪᴋᴀʀʏ in af there was a fight against vilgax where he got the omnitrix after beating azimuth on primus. Ben changes vilgax to goop and takes the stabilising node of goop causing vilgax to be a puddle which allowed ben to just pull the omnirrix off the body to get it back.

I don’t hate the swamp fire redesign but it is a definite step down. Big chill I’m really divided, sometimes I like the more gross bug-like OV design and other times I like the sleeker thinner UAF design.
I just go with the OV look since I don't think being a stick figure as an alien that should technically be in space all the time is a good idea

The OV look leaned more into the mothman gimmick. Not a bad concept but I wasn't a fan.

For way big it was confirmed that the things on his cheeks is his eyes and Technically Swampfire isn’t a redesign. It’s the next step in its life cycle

@@junctiongaming729 No because i'm not a cartoon and it's real life set in stone. Saying its an next life cycle is an excuse for a drastic redesign. There not real. Any change in there appearance is intentional by the team to make a fresh new design. Thus a redesign. Instead of a drastic change off the bat they just said it was an evolution stage but it is still a redesign version.

Ngl while I love Space Chad. The UAF design overall looks menacing - I think the writers were trying to make him an intimidating horror monster-like being, which actually fits because that Alien X voice kinda sounds like Gods and Angels were shouting. along with that flashy lights revealing his first look. Idk if that makes any sense
that made a bit of sense.

@@Deadpool-ri3rq Considering the Celestialsapian that heads the trial of Ben in that episode has a beard to signify his authority, age and status amongst his race, I think it's just because they know buffer looks more menacing, so they just used it like any other character design element

@@talphazero1036 I honestly think he looked more menacing in UAF. When he's bulkier, it looks like the stars are just an aesthetic, and what he's gonna do to you is punch you into space. When I look at that slim serene design in Alien Force, he looks like he could do things to me that I couldn't even comprehend with my mortal brain.
I liked Omniverse because the show explored on different alien species much better than the previous shows and Ben gets to use a lot of his underrated aliens. The change in art style regarding the aliens is acceptable to me as they give different aliens more personality appearance wise and makes them boldly stand out. Some of the aliens might look goofy, but it makes them recognizable as we are greeted with more and more species of aliens. The anticipation of seeing a new alien in the Omniverse art style is also part of the fun of watching the show. The changes to each alien aren’t necessary, but it made me enjoy the show a lot more.

1. I think we can agree that ghostfreak had one of the best redesigns with the chains representing how it won't be like Z'skar, 2. I like the idea of swampfire maturing but yeah the design makes me think it's a different alien
My opinions
Heatblast: Omniverse, it loooks more bulky and cooler and i love more the darker colors
Wildmut: Omniverse, I love the colar and thats it, It doesnt change that much
Four Arms: Ultimate, It looks a lot cooler than the classic, gives me Gladiator vibes and the Golden bracelets are cool as hell
Grey Matter: Omniverse, The outfit makes him looks like a spy or someone ready to figth
Ripjaws: Omniverse, i love both versions from classic and omniverse a lot but i give the edge to classic for looking more fish than human
Stinkfly: Classic, i like Stinkfly from omniverse but Stinkfly in Classic is a lot more alien like in classic
Diamondhead: Ultimate, with no doubt my favorite version because the Dark Blue works wonders with him
Upgrade: Ultimate, It looks more solid than the other 2 versions and i Love more the Black and Green pallets
Cannonbolt: Ultimate, more solid overall and less weird
Upchuck: Omniverse, both versions looks more detailed and less weird
Ben Wolf/Blitzwolfer: Omniverse, i like both versions but Blitzwolfer has more personality on the design
Ben Mummy/Snare-Oh: Omniverse, i Love the egypt pharaoh aestetic and gives more personality
Ben Viktor/Frankenstrike: Omniverse, more personality and scars
Ditto: Omniverse, it looks a lot cute and kinda like a mole
Eye Guy: Omniverse, Both are too similar to decide but omniverse because the pants
Way Big: Ultimate, It looks more cool and more organic than the other 2 versions who look a lot robotic
Swampfire: Definitely Omniverse, it is cooler and i Love the head design
Echo Echo: Alien Force, the Omniverse version it's too ugly and easily forgetable design
Humongosaur: Alien Force, A lot more dinosaur like and less weirdly shaped like in Omniverse and i Don't like the underwear and belt, too unecessary
Big Chill: Alien Force, It looks a lot more moth like instead of weirdly beefy and desproportional

Pretty much the same list as me but I loved Omniverse Diamondhead the moment I saw him. To me his UAF design looked too similar to Chromastone with the dark blue. And speaking of Chromastone, UAF all the way but I was totally disappointed that Eric Bauza (no offense) was his new voice in Omniverse even though Dee Bradley Baker continued voicing other aliens.

@@Eric6761 I know he only appears in two episodes near the end of OV but it would have been more nostalgic hearing the original voice. And after taking a closer look at the Diamondhead’s UAF design, I actually really like the Chromastone-like body but I’d still choose the OV design over it though.
UAF way big looks too simple. Has the less amount of detail. Which is shown more in his ultimate form. Just looking even more lazy and plain. The other two way bigs are better but classic is the best because most detail and lore being why he has 4 eyes
sometimes being simple is all what you need in a design like after I watched the secret of the Omnitrix movie I remembered it for years but I forgot how way big originally looked and when i revisited it it looked so weird and stupid to me
it's weird that he needs 2 more eyes to look downwards when Tokustars are born in space. Actually it makes no sense why they are humanoid at all
@@parry3439 also why tf would he need extra eyes just to look down, they have the same body format as we do basically and we do just perfectly fine with 2 eyes, it's very easy to just look down occasionally while walking somewhere you think there will be some obstacles

You know what version of Gwen I really liked? Her first apperance in Omniverse where she still had her UA look, just in the Omniverse art style.

Regardless of whichever I like better, Omniverse's fresh art style as a whole was a welcome change. Omniverse reinvigorated the whole show

Damn, I think that OV Chromastone looks badass. I love that pink spikes/crystals are all over the place, whereas in UAF version there are too little of them sticking out. Clothes also look fabulous.Nice addition to the design. His chest looks kinda more buffed. The only bad thing in this version is probably the omntrix placement, but yeah it's a minor detail. UAF Chromastone just looks boring compared to OV.

I actually liked Omni verses designed of swamfire. UA version is still my favorite but Omniverse made the UA version a stage in life and was pretty decent at the overall execution I think.

For the most part, I think the redesigns were just fine, not an improvement or a downgrade, just different, but there are a few that I have think are improvements. Ghost Freak, Juryrigg, Shocksquatch for example, and I also always really liked how Four Arms looked
I honestly prefer how Kevin looked in OV, while UAF was good it feels too simple and OV Kevin just had a cool aesthetic to me
I love how Ripjaw’s abomination that is the UAF design wasn’t even mentioned
5:03 those two things in his cheeks are supposed to be eyes that let him see the ground without looking down. I think it's a really cool detail but it often gets forgotten about.
Omniverse art style and redesigns really got me into art. It's so fresh and quirky i love it 😫

In all honesty I just think that the alien redesigns were ugly as hell. Not to mention Kevin's design was a degrade. But god I had the biggest crush on Ben in omniverse. They designed him so well.

You said that the weird things on way bigs cheeks in both classic and omniverse were unnecessary but they actually aren't, and they are a really good idea; they are two extra eyes, since waybig is so tall and in UAF has only two eyes to see whats in front of him, classic and Omniverse implemented two extra eyes that are facing downwards so he can also see the floor to make sure he does not step on things - Very useful and makes sense, not really sure why they removed them for UAF

As someone who loves the Derrick J. Wyatt's stylized artstyle and character designs, I think all of the Omniverse designs look better, whether they're the 11-year old-designs from the flashbacks, or the final 16-year-old designs. Although, I will admit, Big Chill does look like an alien Krampus, ESPECIALLY in his cloaked form. 🤣 If he kept the slim body from UAF but had the details from Omniverse, then they would've had something.

I always loved the original show/classic version, it's my favorite (and 2nd to it is its 'sequel' UAF, when they were teens and went on adventures with Kevin, especially since it followed the direct timeline... and I loved how it also explored Gwen's whole spellcasting thing that I felt was just a little too glossed over when they were kids because it was only 1 episode and I was like "but what she has all this power when she was pretended to be the cat hero... and they just get rid of it?")

I'm glad you liked it but you're wrong...UAF DID NOT FOLLOW THE DIRECT TIMELINE. They actually did a terrible job at it and Gwen's powers is a terrible decision on the writers part and I think it's just silly nostalgia talking here.
I really loved Omniverse Swampfire's design after the first mutation, because it was just a buffer, cooler version of the OG imo. But the other 2 mutations ruined it. Really wished they just used the first mutation design as the only one, and that he appeared in the series more
OS FourArms is my favourite but UAF is my second favourite if we're not counting HU. For Waybig, Waybig is sort of a robot alien. He is metalic and the things in his face are his second pair of eyes. I like OV the most because i think it has the best of all worlds but I like UAF as well for the simplicity. I don't like the OS design because I think there's too many details. I like both UAF & OV BigChill and always have. I don't like OV BigChill though when he has his wings wrapped around himself. I like OV Chromastone but I like the original more, however with Goop I like the OV version a bit more. I like UAF WaterHazard more because I think the OV version has too many details and I don't like his shape.

Fun fact, those things under way big’s eyes are a second set of eyes for To’kustars to see what’s below them without having to bend down, so they aren’t unnecessary but a part of the original design that was left out in the UAF version
RipJaws did appear in Ultimate Alien you know during the map of infinity Story Arc
Omniverse brainstorm is actually fire though. I love how it looks like an evil mastermind villain from a superhero cartoon or something
but its color scheme keeps it heroic.
Happy to be part of the voting in the community of discord and I agree with ur ideas on upgrade, rip jaws , wild mutt and grey matter. Yes , big chill and swamp fire redesigns were pathetic. Ben wolf and Ben mummy were improved in ov and were really good and at many points I have argued that the art style of OV was really better at many points except big chill and swamp fire and finally way big was coolest in UAF. And once again , enjoyed this video a lot, kinda unliquidated and editing was awesome

I always loved Four Arms' design in Classic Ben 10 the most. He actually looks big and burly, like a 12-foot-tall Brain Shaw if you will. In UAF, however, he looks like he lost about 100 pounds of muscle mass and makes him come off as the scrawniest of his three designs.
Just a note, rip jaws did appear with a redesign in ultimate alien force. It looks pretty bad in comparison to either of the other designs, but I thought it was worth mentioning since it wasn’t shown here
They were just LAZY he looks like a koi for goodness sake also he's NAKED or his tail is the same color as his body
I’ve always said while I like the art style of Omniverse, some of the designs leave much to be desired. I wish they would have given 16 year old Ben inklings of design elements from Ben 10,000, like the shoulder vents on Heatblast. Also the two versions of Eatle seem like two completely different aliens lmao

idk if its just me but I also saw the aliens with each series as age progression, like as Ben got older some of the aliens matured more, for some this was slight changes, for others more significant, disregarding things like artstyle

Honestly you went on Big Chill OV too harshly imo. I like to imagine Big Chill in OV as buff then rather hunched back. I like his bulkier design, because I personally felt like the UAF felt weak in brute strength. Idk that's just me though.
Edit: I still like both versions in their own respective way, don't get me wrong, I'm just saying I feel like Ask was a little too harsh.

he's meant to look more like Mothman in OV and I think that makes him more interesting, it gives the impression that in the ben 10 universe mothman sightings are actually sightings of one of big chills species visiting earth
if I'm not mistaken big chill was always meant to be a nod to mothman even in UAF but he doesn't really look anything like mothman in that series so I think OV pulls off the homage a little better (both versions are cool tho)

Personally, I prefer the Omniverse redesign of Waybig, because those "cheek things" are a second set of eyes so that way Waybig doesn't have to always watch where he is stepping by looking down
The two "things" on Way Big's cheeks are extra eyes to look down, it is a essential part of the design that the original designer made. Since he is so tall he needs to look straight down to watch where he steps, especially with segmentasapien running about!

OV designs and art-style is why I was in love with it. Btw you should've used Rath in uniform design to compare.
For additional information the "things" on Way Bigs face are 2 extra eyes because Tokustars have trouble looking straight down.

I've never really been a big fan of Omniverses artstyle. It's the sole reason I couldn't really watch it. The story is good though. It was just a big change from the classic and Alien Force
I think the art style in Omniverse is unique. It doesn't have to be the same as UAF. I honestly think it's better because the UAF art style was barely expressive. Omniverse really shows the expression and does it really well, similar to the classic

The swamp fire redesign kinda goes for a more superhero look with the collar making his body look like a suit and his eyes look like a mask

UAF Waybig is my favorite because he's just way more intimidating, it probably looks like that to me because that design was used for Evil To Kustar designs in both Destroy All Aliens and Cosmic Destruction

Teen Ben: UAF. UAF fits what I Love about Ben from Season 1-2 of Alien Force while apparently Omniverse seems to fit more what THEY WANTED Ben to be in Season 3 & onwards

I like original Upgrades design better for a couple reasons, one I like the white part of his body emphasizing his body is metalic and not only tech, and two, and this is a gripe I had with the omniverse version for the longest time, the omnitrix being on his eye seems to restrict Upgrade, cause in the classic it was revealed he could shoot lasers out of it's eye, and omniverse shows other upgrades doing the same, however, in omniverse it never uses it, and I can only assume it's cause the omnitrix is restricting it by blocking his eye cause even though it's shown that he could do it since others of the same species do it also, he just doesn't, also omniverse and ultimate alien in general shows how powerful upgrade is by using others of its species (Incorporating tech into itself, creating it's own weapons etc), but they seem to not apply to Bens upgrade which always bugged me

Some omniverse designs i love like Swampfire and then there's Echo Echo and Bigchill (which isnt that bad tbh but i prefer thr scrawny look)
First off, R.I.P. Derrick J. Wyatt, the art director of Omniverse. And second, personally, I loved a good chunk of the redesigns in Omniverse. I think the art style overall was a lot more interesting to look at. Not to dis UAF, I liked it's art style fine, but I don't find it very visually interesting compared to other superhero shows, where as Omniverse had more personality in its visuals. I think the only redesign I really disliked was Big Chill.
About up chuck the fact that the species legiterally eats their home when they feel like moving made me a up chuck enjoyer

I'm pretty sure the things on his cheeks are another set of eyes that look down, which in my opinion is a cool detail. Being so massive it makes sense to have an additional set of eyes to look where he's walking.

In my opinion, all the alien's design were perfect in Ultimate Aliens, then Omniverse happened. Except for Shocksquatch and Jury Rigg, I like their redesign in there.

I frankly find it impressive how some OV redesigns only did slight tweaks for some Aliens and it made a design pop just that bit more.
By far my favourite redesign is Juryrigg. The original design just looked, ugly. I forgot that it was even a form that showed up in UAF.
OV gave the species a bit of backstory and a really slick stylish looking imp design. Such an amazing glowup.

The designs of Omniverse is a mixed bag for me. There's some I actually like, and others that are just plain off.

7:30 chin? I always saw that more as a beak, which I thought was interesting. OV goop just reminded me a bit more that he was just a liquid held together in a vaguely bipeal shape. My tendency’s are to lean towards the designs that seem less human/earth bound anyhow!

The numbers on his jacket being backwards is a nice touch. Plus his galvan form didn’t look like a greymatter clone. Always loved kid albedo too!
