    Such lovely birds. My experience as a young teenager raising a male chick, they are loyal to their person. After initially training mine to come using treats, I never needed to use treats when he was an adult to get him to come to me. He could be hundreds of yards away, and he would fly to me when I blew a whistle.

    This reminds me of a book I read called "A kestrel for a knave". Great book. Its about the bond of the boy and the kestrel, the training and journey.

    What kind of whistle are you using here? I have sports whistles but don't like them as much as the one you are using here.

      I remember wanting one after watching guardians of Ga'hool but then I got into kestrels

      @@rocketraccoon9898 yep, actually one aftican owl and one Siberian.
      No regrets, I think they are better than hawks for amateur falconry.
      My first owl was named Soren..

      No not really, he's really small. It only hurts if one of his nails goes under my nail.

    I would have thought he’d be using a glove.

    • @tiborjokovi5257
      @tiborjokovi5257  6 лет назад

      Indeed grip is rather soft. Although it hurts when one of its nails go under your cuticle.

    • @tiborjokovi5257
      @tiborjokovi5257  6 лет назад

      I also think its a good idea to use a glove from the beginningon. So the bird is focused more on the glove instead of a hand, now its hard for me to touch him without he wanting to eat something from my hand. ''A lot'' of people breed them, so by searching via google and facebook it won't be hard to find kestrels
